At least you are contributing to the forum. It is amazing the number of members who view the threads, but don't actually add their thoughts.... pity, because a little dialog helps us all.....

Maybe you could add why you think they are a good place chance...

Hi, Stix.

I base the selections roughly on the neurals. They mainly have to show good recent form and are not donkeys (I suppose this is a matter of opinion). A couple of good winners today ($7.00 and $11.60), but I only back them for a Place.

michaelg
21st July 2005, 11:11 AM
One selection today:

Wyong R6 no.5 - Ice Gold ($20 pre-post).

Rudolph
21st July 2005, 03:28 PM
Michaelg can you post when Ice Gold is next in, was a pretty good run, only got it at $3.90 a place on S-tab which was a bit stiff, but i reckon it will close to breaking through next start.

Michaelg. I read your comments regarding your place supported horses winning and paying great dividends. It backs up what I have said in the post in the systems forum entitled "Level Stakes - Can't Win"

I'd be interested in hearing your views.

Cheers

Hi, Privateer.

I think it all comes down to personal preference. If I back a horse each-way I usually have $1 x $3, but because I like to win every day (don't we all?) I prefer Place-Only due to the higher strike rate.

michaelg
22nd July 2005, 11:11 AM
Rudolph, it paid $4.70 here in NSW, but I got it at $4.95 with IAS. It paid $6.50 with Unitab. I usually bet Place with IAS as the divvies generally seem to be higher than the TABs.

Twelve selections today:
Goulburn R1 no.12 - Khargosh
Goulburn R2 no.1 - Anniversary Prince
Goulburn R5 no.1 - Sir Spender
Goulburn R8 no.2 - Rubitbabe
M'brook R2 no.8 - Dakahill
M'brook R5 no.8 - Shades Of Steel
M'brook R7 no.1 - Lady Starstruck
M'brook R8 no.5 - Regrade
M'brook R10 no.3 - Medowie Jewel
Mildura R4 no.6 - Paddy Power
Mildura R5 no.5 - Shifting Sands
Townsville R6 no.10 - Luke Tomahawk

From yesterday's 11 selections (one selection was in an abandoned race), there were 7 placegetters paying a total of $12.90 for a small win.

Seven selections today:
Morphetville R1 no.10 - Lady With Attitude
Morphetville R7 no.6 - Raja Dancer
Gold Coast R1 no.3 - Good Solomon
Narrandera R6 no.1 - Paranoid Android
Echuca R2 no.2 - Flirtatious Toy
Echuca R10 no. 12 - Blow
Toowoomba R7 no.3 - Master Sterling

Merriguy
23rd July 2005, 09:16 AM
A return of $12.90 on a $11.00 outlay is a 17.27% win, Michael!! That figure, consistently, would do me any day.

michaelg
23rd July 2005, 12:05 PM
true - percentagewise it was a very good result.

I have been having amazing results over the past week betting box trifectas on larger fields. Even box quinellas and First Fours are showing a profit. Out of interest these are the boxed flexi-trifectas I am having today.

Three selections today;
Port Macquarie R4 no.6 - Alocasia ($13 pre-post)

Gosford R7 no.2 - Private Certifier
Bendigo R4 no.2 - Lord Lucan
Northam R6 no.1 - Mercifully

29th July 2005, 11:22 AM

A disaster yesterday. However, because of an error the system threw up the wrong selections which I have now rectified. In fact there were 11 true selections for nine placings paying a total of $17.00 including Adelaide R1 no10 ($5.60).

Hopefully today will compensate and not crash.
Scone R3 no.3 - Subreilly

2nd August 2005, 10:59 AM
Yesterday three of the five selections placed, paying $5.80.

Interestingly, win bets have done quite well. On Sunday there were three winners from the seven selections paying $10.20, and yesterday there were two winners from the five selections paying $9.90.

Three selections today.
Coffs Harbour R4 no.3 - Strategic Plan
Coffs Harbour R6 no.3 - Langfibian
Bairnsdale R6 no.6 - Boortokoi Mustang ($16 pre-post)

michaelg
3rd August 2005, 10:58 AM
One winner of $3.60 from the three selections yesterday. Two placegetters for $2.60. The main reason I included the unplaced horse was because it had a good record at the track - never again!

One selection today:
Belmont R2 no.2 - Interange.

I have been looking at horses that almost qualify for the system. Even though I don't have an accurate record, they have performed well. There is one such horse today:
Canterbury R7 no.2 - Loftily

michaelg
4th August 2005, 11:11 AM
Yesterday's selection was unplaced, however the almost qualifier won paying $2.30 and $1.40.

Today's selections are:

Hi, part Time Punter.

Unfortunately I have only been backing them for a place. Both are in profit for win betting. If I had backed them to win they would have lost. I'll give them one more go...

Six selections today:
Randwick R3 no.1 - Break The barrier
Echuca R8 no.2 - Mandezvous
Armidale R3 no.4 - Stage Fright
Armidale R5 no.1 - Mr Shinjuku
Gold Coast R1 no.7 - Shy Hunter
Belmont R6 no.4 - Call me Henry

Almost system - six selections:
Randwick R6 no.10 - Imtops ($21 pre-post)

Echuca R9 no.11 - My Georgia Girl

michaelg
7th August 2005, 10:54 AM
A good result yesterday. From the six selections there were four winners paying a total of $14.80, and five placegetters paying $7.20.

Over the past seven days there have been 28 selections for eleven winners for a POT of 30%, and 18 placegetters for a LOT of 1%.

Five selections today:
Muswellbrook R3 no.9 - Deregulation
Ballarat R7 no.2 - High Academy
Gundagai R7 no.1 - Western Springs
Kalgoorlie R1 no.3 - Corporate Finale
Kalgoorlie R4 no.2 - Head West.

michaelg
8th August 2005, 10:51 AM
Not a good result yesterday. From the five selections there was only one winner paying $3.20, and two placings for a total of $4.40. I omitted W'bool R1 no.3 because it was a Hurdle. There was previous Hurdle a few days ago which I listed as a selection - it lost, so I omitted yesterday's race. It won paying $2.50 and $1.80. I can't win!!!

Two selections today.
Bathurst R4 no.4 - Mountain Of Light
Murwillumbah R4 no.3 - Lady Breakfast.

8th August 2005, 04:57 PM
"Over the past seven days there have been 28 selections for eleven winners for a POT of 30%, and 18 placegetters for a LOT of 1%".

Why compound the loss by having 3 or 4 times as much on the place?

michaelg
9th August 2005, 11:43 AM
Hi, Stix and Mark. I suppose it's a matter of personal preference - I like the higher strike rate with place betting. As racing is often not consistent it's possible that place betting might prove to be superior, or at least also show a profit. And as there has only been one week's betting, who knows...? I've begun 1 X 3 - hopefully both win and place will be profitable.

From yesterday's two selections there was one winner of $1.80, and both placed for a return of $2.40.

Three selections today.
Taree R9 no.4 - Anitalyn
Rocky R1 no.3 - Equitant
Rocky R5 no.9 - Built Like Clint.

michaelg
10th August 2005, 11:08 AM
Not a good result yesterday. Three selections for one winner of $3.20 and one place of $1.30.

I have slightly changed the selection criteria. It would have eliminated: yesterday's two losers; unchanged on Monday; on Sunday the winner of $3.20 and the three losers also would have gone, and on Saturday the only loser. So from today I'll list the selections from the new sysytem, and hope...

Sandown R1 no.3 - Classic Benbarra.
Belmont R1 no.1 - Interange
Belmont R4 no.3 - Noble Pak
Belmont R5 no.3 - Mexican Mist
Belmont R6 no.3 - Cupiditias.

Great work again mate. Three out of three.

Using a staking plan, win only to back them, would have resulted in a three unit loss today. If you are confident in the selection process then u can outlay more backing them place only:)

michaelg
12th August 2005, 10:58 AM
Hi, Kiwi. Unfortunately it was only two out of three - Philatelist was unplaced. I don't know what happened with it, I did not listen to the race.

From yesterday's three selections, one of them won paying $4.00, and the total place was $3.30.

Two selections today.
Scone R2 no.1 - Rostrum
Scone R6 no.15 - Kandinski. (I don't understand how this can be a selection, but...)

kiwi
12th August 2005, 07:38 PM
If it helps Kandinski was a poor selection jockey wise.Check the Virtual Form Guide he has an overall windx showing:

01/08/05 to 10/08/05 17 1 0 1 5.9 11.8 10.6
Total 2418 93 129 170 3.8 16.2 36.3
Last 100 100 7 3 6 7.0 16.0 33.2

The 10.6, 36.3, and 33.2 figures indicate a jockey in very poor form.

michaelg
13th August 2005, 09:18 AM
Hi, Kiwi. Unfortunately my form guide did not show a jockey for Kandinski, nor did the neural site. Yet they gave the jockey a high neural rating without even knowing who he was.

Let's hope today will cover yesterday's loss - of the two selections none won, and one placed paying $1.40.

Eight selections today.
Rosehill R7 no.3 - Collate
Newcastle R5 no.5 - Crique
Toowoomba R3 no.2 - Dance cafe
Toowoomba R7 no.15 - Orpen All Hours
Port Mac R6 no.1 - Mafia Don

Sun Coast R3 no.6 - Golden Dollars
Mildura R1 no.2 - Mad Mo.

15th August 2005, 11:36 AM
Hi, Kiwi.

It has worked well for Wednesday and Saturday races, even before I slightly altered the criteria. Other days it has only been average. So from today I will keep the method unchanged for Wed and Saturdays only, but will again slightly alter the selection process for the other days which in hindsight would have eliminated a few losers.

Two selections today.
Nowra R1 no.2 - Prettify
Nowra R7 no.2 - Fairy Blitz.

Almost system.
Corowa R2 no.1 - Frisky Frisko

The difference between both systems is that the original selects only those whose last race was less than 14 days, whilst the Almost system is for those whose last race was 14 days ago.

michaelg
16th August 2005, 11:05 AM
The two selections won yesterday. One paying $1.30 (it was odds-against in the pre-post market) and the other paid $4.00 for the win, and $1.10 and $1.70 for the place. The Almost selection won paying $1.50 and $1.00 - it was also odds-against in the pre-post.

One selection today.
Rocky R2 no.5 - Flip Hose.

One Almost selection.
Tamworth R1 no.3 - Fox'n On.

16th August 2005, 04:30 PM
Hi, Stix.

Unfortunately I deleted my records from Sunday. However I retained the previous Wed and Saturday because the rules were unchanged for those two days. There were 12 races for 7 winners paying a total of $17.50, and 11 placings for $16.20.

Yesterday I changed the rules slightly for the other five days as the class of horse is inferior. There have been 3 races for 2 winners paying $5.30, the two placegetters paying $2.80 for a slight loss. Also, the Almost system has produced two selections for two winners paying a total of $4.80, and $2.40 for the place.

I have bet a 1 x 3 basis on each selection - plus those selections from the previous Thurs, Fri and Sunday which have had a slight loss. Overall I am showing a good profit. Hopefully it will continue.

michaelg
17th August 2005, 11:12 AM
Yesterday's selection was unplaced, the Almost selection won paying $3.30 and $1.40.

One selection today.
Moonee valley R1 no.4 - Classic Benbarra.

The Almost selections. I have no records for Wednesdays and Saturdays, so I can only be hopeful.
Warwick Farm R2 no.2 - Sun Song
Warwick Farm R3 no.6 - Scission
Warwick Farm R5 no.1 - Coolroom Candidate
Warwick Farm R5 no.4 - Ultra Star
Cheltenham R3 no.10 - Latigra.

michaelg
18th August 2005, 11:08 AM
Not the best of days yesterday. The selection was unplaced while from the five Almost selections there were two winners paying a total of $4.90 and three placegetters for a return of $4.00.

Two selections today.
Townsville R6 no.4 - One Alone
Northam R5 no.1 - Etcetera Etcetera

Two Almost selections.
Gosford R5 no.2 - Diamond N' Pearls
Gosford R9 no.1 - Red Punch

19th August 2005, 11:12 AM
A bad day yesterday, again. No winners, two placegetters paying $1.10 and $1.30, the two other selections ran fourth. Even though the last couple of days have been terrible I will list today's without differentiating between the normal system and the Almost system, and hope...

Queanbeyan R3 no.1 - Zedatious
Queanbeyan R6 no.1 - Sullivan's Creek
Taree R1 no.1 - Desert Shaker
Taree R3 no.4 - Classical Sal
Taree R4 no.2 - Dream With You
Mornington R4 no.1 - Amusing Twist.

I have been testing another system which outperformed the above one. I'll list today's selections and see how they go...

Queanbeyan R3 no.1 - Zedatious
Taree R1 no.1 - Desert Shaker
Taree R4 no.2 - Dream With You

Without giving away the secret, what is your criteria, and what are your subtle changes?

Just curious?

Stix

michaelg
19th August 2005, 12:21 PM
Hi, stix.

The principal rule is that the selection's last start must be within 14 days which I obtain from the neural website. The latest change is that I now place less emphasis on its past few runs but mainly on the ability of the jockey, also the suitability of its barrier draw in relation to the distance of the race - which has so far performed creditably even when the normal system lost over the past couple of days.

Hopefully it won't now crash.

michaelg
20th August 2005, 09:13 AM
I'll stick to the second system as it again outperformed the first.

From the five selections there was only one winner of $2.10, and three placegetters for $5.00 to break-even. The first unplaced horse ran third but there were only two place divvies, and the second unplaced horse ran fourth, so they were both close to the money which is somewhat encouraging.

Ten selections today.
Randwick R1 no.5 - Monterrico
Randwick R3 no.5 - Mystery City
Randwick R4 no.1 - Statum
Randwick R6 no.7 - Dance Hero
Dombeen R5 no.1 - Words Of Magic
Dombeen R8 no.3 - Carry On Meroo
Cheltenham R8 no.1 - Nozi
Hamilton R1 no3 - Al Garhood
Hamilton R5 no.1 - Le Garcon
Belmont R1 no.1 - Wire Detonator

My original method was to only list those horses that had their last run within the past 14 days. Unfortunately I ignored this rule which has resulted in too many losers. So from today I'll only list those whose last race was less than 14 days, and see how it goes...

Two selections today.
Rocky R1 no.2 - Leverage
