Race 1.
Not an easy race to start the day...I really liked the way Listen Pal finished off last start..its been raining tonight and the more the better but i still think he'll be competitive on the good...he's not an easy horse to ride but Cahill will be able to handle him..the distance suits and will be fitter and get the good run....
I also thought for some value Hello Possums who was unlucky last start and the start before..gets to a more suitable distance today and the strong jock Ellissa is a big plus..will get back and needs the speed on but will be running on..
will be looking at these 2..

Race 2.
Pulling my hair out to decide between Vitruvian and Foolish ....
looks like everyone has seen Vitruvians run last start and he'll be short ..he does a few things wrong this horse though and the alley is awkward..
Foolish is a class horse who will get the better run..hes a big boy and needs room but has shown before he can match it with some good horses..Plumb scares me alittle as hes a real confidence type rider whos been alittle up and down of late..
looks to be no value anyway this race ...but if Foolish gets to $5 or $6 i might have something on him..

Race 3.
Prey For Peace..i like the jockey change as this horse needs the strong rider..he's been running on well of late and looks like the extra 200m suits..
they'll be speed to burn here so that should suit him as i dont think hell be as far back as usual..
i should get some odds here as they'll come for Bella Heart and the Toppy..the well bred Angel Girl will be there abouts aswell..

Race 4.
Another Cahill mount here in Time Lion....i'm prepared to watch the spruick horse Special Offer here as i'm not totally convinced yet..
Time Lion doesnt run a bad race and should be suited again here by the big straight and the likely fast tempo..

Race 5.
Tornado Alley looks the obvious..should lead or take the sit and be real hard to catch....thought even with the 15 alley General Patton will be there again..
cant see much value here but i do think Tornado Alley will be th one.

Race 6.
Another fast race ...i might have it all wrong but there does seem to be alot of frontrunners today who like to run along..
this will suit Happier and i'm not scared of the barrier..should only give me better odds..Pannels is in good form and has good timing .the distance and track suits..
Countess Bathory, Love and Money and Strawberry Malt the dangers..

Race 7.
Hissy Fit had excuses last start ..looks like the tempo will suit and i like the jockey change...
thought High Academy and Parameter at huge odds could sneak a place..
expect a better run By Willy as well..

Race 8.
Couldnt decide between Algorithm and Nessuno ...might get the odds to back both here...Nessuno shouldnt be under estimated ..suited here at the distance and track and should get the good run...
Algorithm is alittle query with the distance but looked real good last start ...
will see what Power and Gold looks like tomorrow in the flesh ,,this horse can fly ..
should get really nice e/w odds about Nessuno

Looks a day for swoopers..really like Happier , Hissy Fit and Time Lion..

Good Luck guys :)

Do you think it might be a wet track? Or just the 'sting out'?

In any case, I agree with a lot of what you say. Scary that.

It will be a wet track unless it is like 35 degrees tomorrow morning. It has been raining continuously in Brisbane since like 2'o'clock.

its real hard to say Sportz and Makybe ..Ef is such a good drying track and they've missed alot the rain we've had this week,,if the suns out tomorrow morning and theres a breeze it could still be a good track..
i dont really know ..been hard of late to predict ...
my ratings have been done on good track...will have to revise its worse..

I'm guessing you have chosen Hello Possums due to a slow or heavy track. It is is basically the only horse in the race with wet track form.

G'day all,

Looks a great card tomorrow, i can't wait :)

Race 1 - Given that this appears a pretty weak field again, i can't see any reason why Radar O'Reilly can't win again. Has been running well at this track/distance lately, and while he wasn't overly impressive last time, he got the job done. Runobit has draw perfectly and was a good run 2 back behind Perette. Can figure here with some pace on. Hanalei Bay is a tough customer to catch, but on best form would certainly figure.

Race 2 - Good 3yo race. Not alot of speed here, which is a concern, but i've settled on My Son Day. Has been running well lately, and will probably be a better price than Vitruvian. Having said that, Vitruvian was an eye-catcher last time, and has won well (in good time) over this course and distance before - he's a great chance with Colless engaged. Katsidis may make the pace here and is a quality horse, perhaps may not be wound up here though - i'd say hes heading to the millions.

Race 3 - First of the 2yo races here. Prey for Peace was a great effort last time and the extra 200m looks ideal. As always its a guessing game as to who'll handle the distance and who won't, but she'll do me at this stage. Bella Heart was green as anything last time, but there is obviously potential there, and you can't leave here out totally. Tantra, the Waterhouse runner, should be included, but will probably be a bit short for my liking.

Race 4 - Like Special Offer here. I think this is a really nice galloper. Was green on debut aswell, but hit the line hard and the extra 200m will be no obstacle at all. Just hope hes not too short :). Balbora got to the line reasonably well last time and the extra distance will help here too. Mel has done nothing wrong so far, and can probably take up a forward position here and give them something to catch.

Race 5 - Tornado Alley should win this i'd say. From the 2 alley, i can't see many of these having the speed to go with him, and despite the big weight, i think he's just too good. A Little Naughty has good form behind her, and won't be far off them at the end - the nice alley and Colless helps no end. General Patton must've annoyed the barrier angels because he has again draw the carpark and will probably find himself deep (for the 4th consecutive run), but if he manages to get in, he'll test Tornado Alley.

Race 6 - Countess Bathory has been given all the favours here, and i think she can win. Barrier 3, plenty of speed, great first up record, great form last campaign - this all bodes well for a good first up run here. Don't know what went wrong with persuades last time, but she can do better here with a senior jockey on. Shysu was dominant last time, but i have her 3 deep here, unless she presses forward and leads. If she does, though, i think they'll get her at the end - theres just too much other speed.

Race 7 - If Willy Leica has recovered from his last run, i think he'll go close. His runs last campaign in the 3yo races were superb and if he can reproduce any of those, he'll be tough to stop. High Academy is a very nice horse, and from the 1 is a definite chance. Planagram will set the speed, and won't be far off them at the end for sure. Having said that, I went through the race and found 10 that i could back with some degree of confidence - this is a really tough race.

Race 8 - Last event. If Power and Gold is anywhere near right, i think he'll win. The draw and the top jockey have swayed my decision somewhat. Although he hasnt raced for a long while, his performances as a younger horse were great, and if he has retained that ability, he's better than most of these. Fleet Baron will get a nice run behind them here, and can go close on best figures. Algorithm was an eye-catching 4th last time in a shorter event and can go close. The fact that he has never won over 1200m is a concern, but i'm not willing to leave him out.

Tough day, there will be value everywhere. Best would be My Son Day and Tornado Alley with a value chance to High Academy.

Good luck all

Sven

Track 'dead' at the moment.

Yes, but we have had all sun in Brisbane this morning after yesterday's rain so don't be surpirsed of an upgrade to dead. I think as you first suggested Sportz, the track will have the sting out of it.

What do you think of Fleet Baron in the last guys? It is a lot tougher race than last week but do you give it any hope with a 2kg drop?

Svenvlad
17th December 2005, 10:12 AM
Makybe,

I've got Fleet Baron rated up there with the better 4 or 5 chances in the race. He will get a nice run near the speed, because a lot of the chances drawn inside him have got less (or much more) speed. His last 3 runs have rated well enough to give him a strong chance here.

That being said, i've never found him to be the most reliable bloke around, but Colless should be able to get the best out of him.

Good luck

Sven

hmm is there something wrong with shysu?

maverick1993
17th December 2005, 11:26 AM
Shysu with the extra distance scares me off....with the track dead and the fancies drawn out i'm not to sure in that race..i'll see how the track plays...with the sun beating down it could be a good dead track..????

I have fleet baron rated 5th..
Nessuno, Algorithm, Devil, PowernGold and then Fleet Baron , Shirvirgo ..but if the track is on the worse side of dead Algorithm swaps with Fleet Baron....

hate days like this when you really cant trust the track...i'll be there and might do a streak across the track and feel it myself..

good luck guys :)

Race 5

I think the weight will do in the topy.
General Patton with the good Jock should set himself up ok with a little luck and beat the topy.
However, Cupboard is looking for this win on the way up for Hawkes. Chance to prove his worth and if he lives up to expectations, will do them both in. Saver on the General.

How's that? I was just on to race 7 in the last post when race 5 jumped!! Pressed submit and took off to the lounge room top hear the race. The weight did stop the topy. Cupboard needed another stride to a Little Naughty, had a late wait to get out and just missed. Next time for him. One on the way up and up. Needs more experience.

Race 7 Motivate Motivate Motivate . I've made him my 'saver'
Willy Leica Willy Leica Willy Lieca on top.

All the best,
Zoe

I got 1st and 3rd in my analysis of Brisbane race five. I couldn't get down to the TAB this arvo after there were pretty bad storms and my local TAB lost power and was not operational.

Summary :(

My first losing day in Brissie for ???? ages ...

started off with my 2 selections in the first 2 races scratched ..omen ??

then Prey for Peace, Time Lion, Tornado Alley, Love and Money and then Hissy Fit all losing..i knew i was going alittle wide today and knew i just had to get one over the line to be ahead..

Nessuno the only shining light ...nice place divie but all in all a shocker..

Verb , Tornadic Sky and Dakas Gem and Arctic Park were nice results...so even after a complete and utter shocker in Brissie i end up ahead for the day..

Thanks Arctic Park ...
i usually bankroll my other state selections with my brissie winnings but today they came to the rescue..

i'm feeling pretty good as i knew the day would come i'd have a shocker in Brissie...even Chubby has the odd shocker..

hope you guys ignored my Brissie tips and backed the Perth tips ;)

feeling like i dodged a bullet today...

One thing from brissy and that is Strawberry Malt is developing into a very smart racehorse.
