I thougt i'd start a thread for it (albeit a late one) because it doesn't appear there is one already.

I've just finished doing my form for Slipper day and in the big race i have come down to 2 chances, Hurried Choice and Cecconi. At the moment i'm really struggling to split them. Cecconi's was a super run behind Deferential last start when coming from a long last and finding trouble before rocketing home. i think the 1200 is just right and given a good run could have one last start with his first start in sydney. i can't find much wrong with it, likely to be coming out of barrier 10, hopefully sit just worse of mid field and be storming home late. i've liked Hurried Choice for a while now, hit the line very strongly when forced to find a rails run late. many seemed to have condemned it after its 2-1/4 len 5th to Shaft in the silver slipper, but i thought it was positive, finished only .5 len behind Murtajill who had a lovely run. drawn perfectly in barrier 6.

I think that $35 and $21 for these two chances is great value, i've had some on both of them. apart from these i think the only other chances are shaft, chinchilla rose and maybe for value vecchia roma or downhill racer. i saw in the today's telegraph shane dye said he'd picked the slipper winner every year for the last 20 years :D he went on to say that this years was a race in 7? :)

good luck

Shanes not wrong there.

There are 6 chances in my opinion.

1 - 2 - 3 - 9 - 11 - 13

Cheers.

i'm starting to lean towards hurried choice for the slipper, will see what happens in the early races coming up.

Vecchia Roma prepost and fixed $50 is very big overs IMO. was only beaten a neck chinchilla rose last start and came just as well if not better in the latter stages. lovely barrier and good jock should come close

i think hurried choice, press the button and meurice will the big firmers, won't start close to their original quotes of 21, 11 and 10 i think, the latter two may be fighting for favouritism

This goes to show you how bad sydney racing is, i have been busy of late and didn't even know this was on this weekend.

Where is the advertising i have seen nothing on TV do they only advertise on there side of the country, when the Melbourne cup is on you hear about it for weeks before the race.
