What a field for the Balaklava Cup.
Sir Bollinger looks hard to beat.

I'm a big fan of Roman Arch but me thinks Sure Bet will take out the cup today.

A great field for this race.
I think Roman Arch is the quality horse in the race however will struggle to lug the kegs over this distance compared to when he carried the 61.5 over the 1266m a couple of starts ago.
I like Sure Bet over this distance with Exalted Lad and Cumbria or Roman Arch getting the places.
Sure Bet is exactly that.

Agree with Adelaide Addiction that (5) Sure Bet should win, don't think its the classiest horse in the field, but the others have a lot going against them.
Think (4) Sciatica will run a good race stepping up in distance and love it wet.
(8) Sir Bollinger should be in it all the way up near the lead and will be hard to run down.
Longshot (9) Zip Infatuation is second up from a spell, ran a very nice race last time second up at an unsuitable distance. Todays distance very much suits this bloke.
Cheers.

Well how good is Roman Arch.
Disappointed i did my dough but at least the best horse in the field won. Nothing worse than getting beat by some donkey.
I didn't get to see the race so does anyone know how Sure Bet faired?

Roman Arch might be the best thing to come out of SA since this lovely Reisling from the Barossa I am currently drinking.
Sure bet had every chance, ran around 5th.

Your top selection doesn't have to win for you to make money.
Both of my second selections won Races 9 and 10 at $9.80 and $7.20, plus 1 of my longshots came second paying $7.10 for the place along with the quinella and exacta that paid $140.60 and $257.60 respectively.
Not bad if you ask me, but hey what would i know.
By the way this thread picked the Balaklava cup first 4 which paid $5,546.60:

Well done Testa if you had all that lot on!
You really where "on fire" if you did.
Perhaps let us know how you are going to bet and on what when you post your tips [that's what I do on Sundays and then people can read em' and weep ...or laugh. Who cares?] if you are going to make claims after the event. Then people will know when you are "on fire" before the posted results.
You didn't actualy claim to have bet those results yet neither did you deny it ...sort of left it hanging in the air[?]
Too easy after the races to claim [or imply it by assosiation] all sorts of backfitted Divies. You can then avoid claims of "my son can tip better.." which is fair comment [bit harsh though!] without betting intentions posted. Wouldn't you agree?
Congratulations anyway.
Cheers.

Fair point Crash, i will have to start posting which bets i am taking, which i did a couple of saturdays ago without too much success.
Yeah i did actually back all those results posted above apart from the first 4 in the Cup of course.
Whenever i notice there are major overlays on some horses in a race i will always take out exotics such as quinellas and exactas and too some extent trifectas depending on field sizestrength, however the problem with this is that i cannot say at the time of posting my tips that these will neccesarily happen.
Cheers.

After all is said and done and considering the heading of this thread, no one picked the winner of the Cup!
However, good old tip poster William did in his "tips". Good one Will.
Howz zat! Everyone cleanly bowled [including me as I was on Bollinger].
Cheers.
