In order to allow users to plan their time more effectively, we will post details of the meetings we are planning to cover for the coming two weeks on an ongoing basis.

So for the coming two weeks we are planning to cover the following

Betfair,s place betting on uk racing can indeed threw up some unbelievable opportunities. It is not uncommon to see the place odds available of 1.8, when that horse is a 2.2 chance to win the race.
And the icing on the cake with betfair,s place only markets is that should a race be reduced to less than 8 because of non-runners, then betfair will still pay out on 3 places. As long as the race was down as having 8 or more runners it doesnt matter how many horses are withdrawn betfair will pay out on 3 places still. I have often seen several horses withdrawn reducing a field to 5 runners from an original 8, and its still the first 3 for a place. It will be wise for you to remember that should you lay a horse in a small field reduced by non runners because many still are not certain of this rule. The same applies to a race which was originally declared with 16 runners or more,no matter how many may be withdrawn betfair will still pay out on the first 4 places. Because of the harshness of our winters in the uk,it is a common sight to see a race decimated by withdrawn horses should something like a severe overnight frost make conditions underfoot too demanding for some horses.
Also i,d like to add, that regarding betfairs plans to start place only betting on aussie racing, you will find it will take many weeks if not months before these markets provide any real value. I base this on the fact that recently betfair started operating place markets on the american thoroughbred racing, and many weeks later some of the markets attract next to no liquidity at all, so it could be many weeks before you are able to consistently spot any value bets.
On a different note, do you aussies find betfair as exciting as we do in the uk? Our big betting firms are absolutely livid about betfair, and try everyway possible to outlaw betfair. Theyve tried having betfair declared illegal because layers arent issued with a bookmakers permit amongst many other reasons. But the bottom line is that the big bookmakers in the uk, ladbrokes, william hill, and corals can no longer take us uk punters for a ride since betfair offers much more value.
