Hi all, I have been considering purchasing "Price Predictor Pro" for some time now, and notice quite a few of you use the program. I have had some experience with the old "Racequest" program, before they shut it down to the public due to some major teething problems. I figure though, Equestrian Publishing (PPM) still use the program themselves to run the filters for the systems they promote. It was quite a good, and simple program to use.

There are a couple of questions, regarding Predictor Pro that I am hoping you may be able to help me with.

* Do you think this is the best system of its type on the market?

* Does the program allow a filter for various sexes? I would like the option to seperate Entires, and Mares from Geldings, as I feel this can be a useful angle in some races.

* Can you run filters through the age of the horses? I know you can do this manually, but it would be a great timesaver.

These two filters were not available with previous programs I have used. This information is of course readily available from any formguide, so why this feature is not included is beyond me. Just one final question:

* I am not quite sure where Racequest got their database to run through the systems. Often, though, I found some form entries were inaccurate. Is Cyberhorse Form the best choice to run through these systems?

I would appreciate your comments and thoughts, and realise alot of you do your own ratings. Unfortunately, my time is limited, and the quick cull is a very handy tool for me. Cheers

Hi Tab Hunter last week i googled seached price predictor pro and found a page(sorry i dont have the adress) displaying the set up of it's system builder,it seems to cover almost every aspect of form and looks fantastic.

What i would like to know is can you buy just the system building part or do you have to buy the whole lot to access it?

Hi Tabhunter,

I have been a Price Predictor Pro user for about 6 months or so, and find it invaluable. There are a number of pricing options, and the system selector module is at the high end of those.... However I don't consider the program to be over priced.

You cannot filter on sex, but you can filter on age. I don't know if Cyberhorse is the best form supplier around, but their form is excellent, and very cost effective.

One thing that I really like about PPP is that when running a system test, it creates a CSV file with all the selections, the info about the selections, and the results. If you have any programming experience, or experience with Excel, you can easily load up the CSV file and run further filters that aren't available within the program. I have used this option extensively to very good use - in fact I've written my own analysis package which imports this file and runs various analyses on it.

I can't tell you if PPP is the best system on the market, as I haven't used any others. I did trial a few others before purchasing PPP tho, and ended up selecting PPP. I am very happy with the program, and I find the author to be very approachable and helpful.

They have a trial version available which allows you to import and view the form. I believe that it also calculates past ratings (although I'm not 100% sure on that). The trial version doesn't allow system testing tho, and won't calculate future ratings / prices / margins etc.

Cheers,
Chris.

Dale, according to an email I received from Neile Yardley, the only ongoing cost is $25 per month to download all the form from Cyberhorse.

stebbo, I think that is a fairly good rap for the system, and thankyou for that. I did download the trial version, but had some problems running it for some reason. I have been in contact with PPP, and he emailed me with further info re the system. He tells me that I can have PPP Plus for $250 if I purchase it before 10PM tonight. It seems fair value, and he said it would normally cost $600. Is this what you paid? Do they make further discounted upgrade offers once you sign up? I think for $250 I'll give it a go, although I have until 10pm to decide. Does this represent good value to you?

Hi Tabhunter,

from memory, I paid somewhere around the $700 (or was it $800) mark for the full Gold V2 system. I just checked the site, and the fully blown version is listed at $875... The $250 for the Pro Plus version sounds like excellent value.

The difference between the ProPlus and GoldV2 is that GoldV2 tests place and exotics performance of systems as well as the win. The Pro just tests the win. (This is what the website sez anyway).

I know that you can upgrade once you've purchased, and you'll probably be able to negotiate the pricing... I decided to go the whole hog from the start..... I also know that he has a new system analyser module "add on" to the program which lists at $750. Personally I think that the 750 price tag for the analyser is way too much, and I won't be buying it myself. (although this is most likely due to the fact that I can do most of the analysis myself).

Cheers,
Chris.

Quite personally guys, and I dont wish to offend any of you,
but I see it as a lot of money to be spending.
Think of it this way,, would the money which it costs to subscribe - which can be very costly - be better going strait on your bets?
However I do understand if it is getting you guys richer.
It would be interesting to know

Hi Enjay,

I hate posting my email address in a public forum such as this... tends to lead to spam... I shall try posting it in image format and see how it goes.. If not, feel free to post yours...

Tab Hunter, I have used the Price Predictor program for several years. I think it is the best value for money available.Neale Yardley is always available to answer any queries you might have.I think you can get a trial copy of the program from their website.

I also have used Price Predictor for 3 years and can confidently say I have recouped the initial outlay many times over.

Would any Price Preditor users be interested in establishing a user group / chat room to discuss the best way to optimise the program and related subjects????

trench digger, I would also love to join the group. After much deliberation, and a few questions and answers from Neale, I have decided to go with v2... Thank you all for your comments and advice. it was very helpful in making me delve further. The funny part is, I couldn't find a bad word to be said about this program, or Neale, and that's after checking many forums. Still wish there was a sex filter, but I assume you can do that in Excel or so. Cheers once again....

Tab Hunter

If you know your way around Excel you will have a field day. You will be able to filter the sexes and anything else within the spreadsheet it generates.

Yes, cheers Twodogs, looking forward to have a fiddle... Now, to find that 20% return no risk system... I think my first goal will be to try and turn $1000 into $10,000 in 13 weeks. Has anybody done this? That is the road to riches isn't it?
