Without actually giving away all the rules, what are the basics of the plan???

Hi Sportz,

The system is very simple really, so giving away the basic rules would give away the system, which i don't want to do at this stage, i will just say that all selections are either 1st up or 2nd up

If I had a system with a 205% POT, I wouldn't be giving away the rules either !

So...

Not trying to be harsh or upset anyone, but I think I'm making a valid point, which is reason enough to comment:

Great, the results of a system with unpublished rules [ about as interesting as reading a tattslotto result you havn't got a ticket in ].

Apart from being a possible exercise in self praise,is there some sort of rational reasoning at work here ?
If so, please enlighten me as I just can't see it. [ It's obviously on the wrong forum page as well ].

Cheers.

Crash,

The reason i posted results is because i am going to post the selections daily from today, i thought people might want to know what the previous results were like.

I might be wrong but were you the one who said Sportz was an idiot for posting his successful system rules? Now you are calling me an egomaniac because i posted a few background results from a system i have been working on so i can post selections daily.

Shaun is right the system is pretty simple, all you have to do is have a look at each selections form and you will notice they all have something in common.

Cheers.

Testa,

Steady ! I didn't call you anything.

I was commenting on what was actually in [or wasn't in ] your first post, not your unknown 'intentions' [ that you have belatedly now posted ]. We ain't mind readers here.

I made fair comment considering your posts content, not an accusation. Why would anyone bother ?

Testa wrote:

Before you go suggesting I called someone an 'idiot' or called you an 'egomaniac', perhaps you should read the forum rules on slander because your indulging in it.

If anything I called Sportz 'altruistic' [ a compliment ] and certainly not an 'idiot'. He also agreed with the point I was making if you would care to look.

Cheers.

crash
25th February 2004, 07:07 AM
Have to agree there Shaun.

I guess I was too tired from all the searching for the common links that these horses have, to add everything up.

My assumption was, as there is no O/L total, but the place prices and place totals are displayed along with the win totals, it should mean something [ e/w betting ? ].

I should not assume there is a logical reason behind anything in this forum anymore.

I did try, rather feebly, to cover myself with a question mark [ at the last moment ].

So far, I have come up with these system rules:
1. Win bet only
2. Must be a maiden
3. 1st. or 2nd. up only
4. Any day of the week
5. stating price up to $38 [maybe more]
6. any barrier
7. any jockey
8. any trainer
9. If more than one selection, go with your best guess or throw a dart [?]

There may be more, but I am at a loss and still tired [ and I just got up ].

Cheers.

TESTAROSSA

There are actually 7 rules, but you already have 3:

(1) Must be a Maiden.
(2) Must be 1st or 2nd up.
(3) Must be $8.00 or more.

Clues:

(1) Check amount of starts for each selection.

(2) The thing they all have in common happened at their first lifetime start.

Hope that helps.

Crash,

Sorry about this but I can't help myself.

Yeah they lost like 2 of the 3 tips you posted the other day. ( actually 4 tips but 1 was scatched).

I watched those tips with interest and the only conclusion I can come to is that don't worry about doing any form, just go to the Qtab site and look for the horses that have got a big red mark on the odds and you will come up with the same selections.

Would save you a lot of time

You had a bad day Ken char ? 1 win and a second wasn't bad from 3. [weren't all favorites either]. Perhaps you should put some tips up yourself ? Your not even risking being in the comp.

Testa,

Have just finished checking out the first starts of the horses here. The only thing I can find in common, is that they are all horses [?].

Love a riddle, but ???

Good going anyway Testa, however your doing it.

Our Maizcay
25th February 2004, 11:42 PM
Ok ..

i haven't finished looking through everything, but here are my possible 3 additional rules based on the horses given.

Testarossa ... am I right about any of these???

* Under 10 starts .. ie 1 to 9
* Weight change from previous start either up max 3kgs, or down max 3kgs (-3 to +3 kgs)
* My longshot ... Average Prizemoney $2,000 or less.

Also, I have narrowed your selections down again using some very basic additional criteria , and got two new feeds. The results were... with only one additional rule...

BELLA FUTURA unp
CODED $29.00 $5.80
DISCO SLACKS unp
HELLO CRYSTAL 3rd $4.40
JONOBLE $10.20 $2.30
MONKEYPICKEN unp
PEGUNNY JAKE unp
ROXBURY HALL unp
SHE'S STRIKING $10.90 $3.10
SLASHERS CREEK unp $1.60
STARZAMI $10.20 $2.10
Selections: 11
Collect (Win): $60.30
Profit: $49.30

With the smallest of extension of the same criteria we could add this to the above...

CRYSTAL EXPRESS $2.20
LADY CANNY
WEEPING WILLOW
CHARLIE'S LEGACY
LA SPERANZA
DARING ECHO
ORONSAY $8.40 $2.50
BROCANTEUR $37.80 $5.20
LONGSTONE
DREJA
ONUS
CHAMPONY
NINA BELLE
GONE FOR GLORY
It drops your strike rate, but there is a good profit there.

The other sub-system from your horses gives these results ... again, a very simple criteria ( 1 rule)..

CODED $29.00 $5.80
CRYSTAL EXPRESS $2.20
HELLO CRYSTAL $4.40
JONOBLE $10.20 $2.30
KAORU SQUARE
MONKEYPICKEN
NINA BELLE
SHE'S STRIKING $10.90 $3.10
SLASHERS CREEK $1.60
ZAMURD

Selections: 10
Win Div: $50.10
Profit: $40.10
Place Div: $19.40
Profit: $9.40 (94%)

I'll show you mine if you show me yours

I have looked at tomorrows yet, so haven't applied my criteria to your selections.

Good Luck for tomorrow....

I have used a very successful maiden system on city and provincial tracks for 20 years , since a rails client of bookie Col Dale in sydney put me on to it.

Only time i have back $125 winners 3 times in town, Simple rules which i am happy to share.

First -- Barrier 7 or inside
2nd -- No 2nd ups unless first prepartion
3rd -- Must not had more 7 starts
4th and last-- Must be $ 7 or more.

If 2 in race back both, if more back best drawn 2.

Maidens anywhere. Just have a look on Thurs 26/2/04 at any track.

I prefere humor with my 'shots', not cheap spite [I don't think anyone in this forum needs you as babysitter].

Back to publishing your tips after they run [you should start another thread on it ] ?
We could vote on a new rule in the comp. to encourage you to join in, allow you to post your Sat. tips as results on Sat. night.

My only bets yesterday were R6 and 7 at Sandown: $9 and $4.50 wins. Sounds a bit flat after the event, doesn't it ?

Mountaineers couldn't climb the chip on your shoulder. Give it a rest, this ain't your thread.

The Under 10 starts rule is spot on, the other 2 are not, there are no rules involving Weight or Prizemoney, or Barriers as well.

Everyone,

The thing they all have in common at their first start is pretty simple, ( Besides losing Crash  ) You are all gonna kick yourselves when you realise what it is.

I suggest going to Expertform and searching each selection in Horse History and look at everything each selection has in common at its first start.

Testa,

When Sports was publishing his great systems ,some people thought I was giving him a hard time [ far from it actually ]. Later in his thread I called him altruistic [ suffering an over generous heart ] for what he was doing.

Sportz eventually saw my point and realized that in this game, you are betting against other punters, not the TAB.

When I posted my last post, Gosford R4/3 was showing above $8 [$11 I think ] and it was the only bet I got on [payed in Vic. $6.70] as I wasn't going to be around to see the starting price.

Why did it drop in price ? Because there has been over 400 'views' today and it doesn't take a brain surgeon to work out what happened.

Many people view this forum to pick the bones out of it [ I recollect calling them parasites, which upset a few contributors that the barb wasn't directed at ]. It would be great if the forum was restricted to the handful that actually contribute ].

For a long-shot system, how long will it take for it to be impossible to find a pick that is starting at $8 or more, tomorrow, or the day after ?

Cheers.

Crash,

It opened equal 5/1 2nd fav on fixed odds and came over sky it was being well backed, so if you think the price was anything to do with this thread then you are in ya ya land, UNLESS all the big punters at Gosford are getting their selections from this forum???????.

I would rather think their information was informed info.

Oh! just to make you happy I had a bad day, BUT that's not why I am posting this.

Cheers

[ Yes, it's obvious why you are posting ]

Sorry to hear you had a bad day Kenchar .

Contrary to what you would like to believe, I am not mean spirited at all. You should take your vendetta elsewhere, as it really is tiresome, and probably not just to me.

If you keep following me around the forum snapping at my heals every chance you get, I'll do something about it you won't like
[ IT'S TIRESOME MATE ! ].

On IAS the price was above $11 [ not fixed ] when I placed my bet.

It doesn't take BIG punters to kill a price this time of week, just a lot of smallish ones !!

Cheers and better luck tomorrow.

Crash,

Sorry I can't agree the tab price just adjusted itself to somewhere around it,s on course price which is the norm except for big longshots.

The only exception you will get to this is midweek Brisbane and Adelaide races ( mainly Brisbane) where their market % is so high you can get a large variation, but mainly in the bigger open fields which are very FLAT in the betting, and here You can find a horse $5 with the books and say $12 on the tab, BUT only if Sky doesn't mention the difference because if they do sure as hell the sheep will follow.

Cheers

I just noticed the additions to your last post, there is no vendetta as you call it, but as I posted a few months ago quite often I pick you up on a lot of of things, but never bothered posting back, now I am and it seems like you can't cop it.

You like giving it out though.

By the way the horse WAS TOP SELECTION ON QTAB RADIO PICKS, and do you realise how many people follow those.

Cheers again

Testa,

I take it those results are based on getting at least $8 or no bet???

Shaun

Sportz...i have a system that i am testing at the moment that is a longshot system with a 12% strike rate and and ave divi of about $12 i have a minimum price of $8 i have found that going lower you do get more winners but you also get lots more selections that lose....the $8 rule cuts down your bets just like your price structure on your systems do

Yes, well over 400 views, but by the same half a dozen people, over & over. I don't think they all had enough on to affect the price.

40/60 staking rule I get
40 units win/60 units place
I done this very quickly and not checked for accuracy, but well in front.
Credit Testa, nice system
the copy and paste on this forum has me stuffed, but I think if one copy and past this in spreadsheet and do the formula it should work out ok
Longest loosing streak though was 10

Nice work Puntz. Have you figured out the 2 missing rules ?

Mark,

I hope you are right, but the views went
through the roof yesterday. Only time will tell I guess.

Cheers.

Crash,
To be honest, no.
I use a much simpler method of selections
that utilizes the other 9/4 staking plan which sustains 11 consecutive losses @ 115 units.
Therefore not so savvy on what to look for cos I have stuck to one method of selection for years.
It works, it ain't broke so why fix-it !! ?
Just like the rule in the 9/4 staking plan say's
"Good for the not so long shot type selection system".

The 9/4 plan could be a bit risky with testa's selections cos there was a run of 10 outs.
One more loss and the 115 units would have vanished.
However, I'll do another calculation with the 9/4 staking method and see what happens when time permits.

Puntz,

Ah, 40/60 !! Now I get where you were coming from in that other thread.

Your right about the outs and also it is worth remembering that only 4 winners accounted for most of the profit. Would have to keep getting those biggies to stay on top.

Still, this is a fascinating system of Test's, not that it has worked [so far], but why it has worked at all ? Hard to see any handicapping rhyme or reason to it [?].

Cheers.

OK, so we have testa's selection results, all posted for all to see. It was too easy to sit back, type in a spreadsheet, then look at the profit/loss sum, and easy to say, "yeah this will work"
But in the real world, if one is REALY on the 10th bet after 9 loses..do you think it's as easy as sitting behind a keyboard and due to "past results" it will win like in some utopia-matic..
I don't think so..emotions are one of the major, if not THE major hurdles to get by on the punt.

Puntz,

I spotted the 60/40 typo and was correcting it about the time you were writing.

Yes, the good ol' real world can quickly become a scary place. I hope there was no gusto betting yesterday on the loosing streak. Today's betting will be very timid, yet the system might be on fire !!!

Cheers.

Thats correct Sportz.

Still, this is a fascinating system of Test's, not that it has worked [so far], but why it has worked at all ? Hard to see any handicapping rhyme or reason to it [?].

I believe there is a reason it has worked (so far) and that is that obviously if a selection started at 9-1 or better in its first lifetime start, it MIGHT have some ability.

That brings us to the 1st or 2nd up rule, which i believe gives the trainer a chance of producing the horse in much better shape then its 1st start, how often have we seen an average/good 2yo come out 1st up as a 3yo and become a very good 3yo+ horse.

The under 10 starts rule is pretty obvious, we don't want to be backing maidens who haven't won after that many chances, and the 8-1 or above starting price is obvious as well, don't want to be backing maidens that get to short.

Cheers.

Testa...

here again is my subset of your version. Yesterday there was 2 qualifiers without luck.. so here goes for today..

Our Maizcay's Testarossa Maidens Part One:
Penola: Race 2 #5 Avon's Magic
Grafton: Race 5 #3 Te Rapa Boy
Doomben: Race 3 #7 Templin
Ararat: Race 2 #4 Sea Tern
Ararat: Race 8 #11 Just Leica

Our Maizcay's Testarossa Maidens Part Two:
Penola: Race 2 #5 Avon's Magic
Grafton: Race 5 #3 Te Rapa Boy
Doomben: Race 3 #5 Riotous
Ararat: Race 8 #11 Just Leica

I'm a little late on these, but only one has run to date ... Sea Tern, but it didn't qualify as it was paying around $5.00.

Good Luck,

OM

Templin definitely WON'T be $8 or better. The way they were talking about this one on Radiotab this morning, I think it'll probably be short priced favourite!

Testarossa,

I forgot to post my additional selections for your system today.

They were for Part A and Part B:

Irish Band
Kingdom's Century

Of course only Kingdom's Century was over the $8.00 mark, and paid $7.00 for the place on UniTAB.

As mentioned previously, there is only 1 simple rule for each subset.

For Part B the simple rule is: Finished less than 3 lengths from winner last start.

For Part A the simple rule is: for those with PPPro, the horse must be in the predicted top 3 rankings.

All previous selections I have posted following your initial selections have adopted those simple rules.

Hope you capitalised today on your good results.

Regards,

OM

Testa. Our Mainzcay,
Thats a lot of data...some excellent tips...is a $40-$60 split a normal betting allocation for these types of systems?

Seems a lot but having seen the results you would have to be in the black...

Well, if we could bet on the races from 2004, yeah, I'm sure we could make some money. ;)

I agree Chuck, this system could still have legs. I think a major rule flaw though was the 'up to 10 starts'. Any horse that hasn't won it's maiden within 10 starts isn't getting my money as they have developed consistent form ... losing!

I think if the No. of starts was reduced to 5, the system would have less starters [needed] and better potential [?]
