I was thinking that it's about time I went to see my first metro races (only races I've ever been to was up in Echuca), and seeing how it's supposed to be a nice day tomorrow here in Melbourne (Fine and 26), I've decided to head on down to Sandown tomorrow. I'm really looking forward to seeing some live metro racing, and it would be nice if I can come home a few dollars richer too (have to see how my system holds up). Anyone got any tips that they would care to share?

I have a few stupid questions to ask? Does anyone know what time tracks normally open to the public? Is there much to see or do at the track before the races get under way? What I'm getting at, is it worthwhile getting there much earlier than the start of the first race? And what is meant by an "on the rails" bookie?

G'day Silver

I'm pretty new to this forum but thought I'd post a few tips seeing as you're asking.
I don't back them unless they are showing better than even money.
I reckon a few will be too short for me.
In race time order:

Sandown R1 - 5 Tenita Miamani
Rosehill R1 - 2 Squatters
Sandown R2 - 2 Tenfold
Doomben R2 -3 Empress Di
Rosehill R3 - 5 You Raise Me Up
Rosehill R4 - 6 Comingreadyornot
Doomben R4 - Caught Napping
Sandown R5 - Know Nothing
Doomben R6 - 4 Foxtrot Gun
Pinjarra R2 - 15 Western Novel
Rosehill R7 - 9 Leewards
Pinjarra R4 - 16 Morag

Good Luck if you chose to give them a fling.
I'm from North Queensland and have only been to the Metropolitan races a few times so can't help you out on your queries.

You know Murphy will rear his ugly head now that I've posted tips don't you?

Thanks Surround, I'll be playing Sandown/Rosehill from here in the U.S. as I have for a couple of years. Silver_and_sand, have a good day at the races.

Glenn
