Not an easy day at Eagle Farm....i havent that same confident feeling i had last week.....alot of rain about..looks like it will be slow at best,...

Race 1.
Not a race i'm totally keen on but General Patton rates high,, he did everything right last start and this isnt to much harder..races ok on this track and has won on the heavy.....an ordinary race to start the day..

Race 2.
Another average race,,I couldnt find anything to get excited about,,Hamah the obvious but he never strings 2 good runs together..i thought Buzz has the better form and consistency and if the track isnt too rain affected looks a nice bet.....i couldnt find any speed in the race which is a worry...Star'sOgold might be the leader and if he dicates will be hard to catch and with the rail out 7m he should be in the right place right time at this time of the day......
I'll stick with Buzz depending on the track and i might even get e/w's..

Race 3.
Really like Greccolo ,,,great run last start,,has the good alley and has good barrier speed so he'll be in the box seat...,,i really like Fabiarna's form..got a mile back last start and made a stack of ground on the worst part of the track...i wouldnt be surprised to see her race alittle more forward..Newiit took awhile to get her going last start but you can bet Sathi will be getting her going alittle earlier and the extra 200m will help her..
These the top 2 for sure...might back both if the odds permit ..im guessing Grecolo might be to short to back...as theres been a big tip around the place for him.....if thats the case Fabiarna e/w ..

Race 4.
I like a couple of roughies ...Sweet As will be suited by the 1400m and has the good draw and jock,,she hit the line nicely last start and the track will suit her run on style....another is Plachutta ,,this horse ran well last start ,,never got on the track but didn't give up,,and another i think will like the extra 200m ,,Colless helps her cause and he'll have her racing handy...
Back both at the odds :)

Race 5.
Starlactics big test..ive had a love hate relationship with this horse,,i've been on him and also taken him on..or hes been to short to back,,,,i'll be taking him on in this field,,,
I dont know much about this Natural Destiny but you cant argue the form and theres some good judges on ...I think Black ink will be suited by the speed and the wet track,,,Shysu whos had all the favours in running of late but should again be in the firing line.....
I dont know what to do here..i like taking on the Southerners and i think Starlactic is vulnerable,,i just didnt like his last 50m last start,,,,,youd have to think that if Imprisioned/helter skelter can make him work hard ,,Shysu /Black Ink will really test him....Shysu will be close might be a benifit if they arent making any ground from the back,,,.Black Ink was ridden upside down last start,,,wonder if they'll try and do the same..
If black Ink gets to something decent i might be tempted..8's ?? if they come for the 2 hotpots i might get that and more..
cant wait to see this Natural Destiny in the flesh but unless hes a choisar lookalike i'll take him on..

Race 6.
La Sizzeranne...just has the weight advantage over Gee I Jane....also the distance advantage..good jock and barrier...i think shes very well in this race..i have Octapussy the biggest danger she'll be flying late,, hawkes would have had her nicely freshnd up for this....Gee I Jane just behind and i think Miss Potential will race alot better..she was under done in the straddie but shes top quality and looks the leader aswell,,if they leave her alone she'll be hard to catch...if shes recovered from all her leg probs though shes better on top of the ground class gets you along way....
La Sizzeranne / Octapussy ,,

Race 7.
How ordinary is this race,,,so ordinary in fact that i'll be on Classic Karla again..i think this is his better distance and if you forget his last run hes been racing well....Hello Possums is even in this with a show.....and Bazelle if she leads or is close to it will be right in the firing line aswell,,,,,
Classic Karla at the big odds e/w's....(hope im having a good day before this race)

Race 8.
Another Fav of mine is Deuxieme..i like him here at EF and at the mile and on a track with a bit of give...he gets the speed he needs in this race....I worry alittle about the track and how it will play,,...Smart n Mighty and Benedetti the obvious...will be working a few multis around these 3 ..Mittani with the lightweight capable of giving a heap of cheek in this and if they arent making ground up from the back he would be a nice e/w,,,...

Best Bets... Greccolo , La Sizzerane
Best E/W's.... Fabiarna, Sweet As, Deuxieme
Best Roughie...Plachutta, Classic Karla

Good Luck all,,,,i think we'll need it..it will pay to see if theres a pattern in the first few races...intersting to see how the track plays (out 7m) with the rain we've had...and i dont think the track has been in all the great of condition this whole carnival...i think they just got it wrong by having those midweekers around carny time...,,The backmarkers might struggle tomorrow...just a wait and see kind of day..

Hey Mav,

To be honest, its not really a great days racing tomorrow and the wet track will just make it worse. But, we gotta go with what we're given, so here goes...

Race 1 - Think General Patton might be the way to go. Hes got some sort of talent and has won on the wet before so if he runs to anywhere near some of his good town runs of last campaign, he'll be tough to stop. Noble Gaze will probably lead them here and will give them something to catch. He doesn't win very often, but he has shown good ability so i'll give him a chance in this sort of race. For 3rd i'll include Sea Chain who should appreciate this class after being in the tough 3yo race last time. Nice chance.

Race 2 - Pathetic. I've settled on Brave Action because there wasn't as much wrong with him as there was with all the others. Got a bit of time for this trainer and this horse has shown some talent in and around the place...must've had injury problems though, being so lightly raced. Maybe Baron Ruthven can go OK here, but the only reason for me including him is Hawkes...don't know anything more about him. Hamah is a total money-muncher and you'll go nuts backing him, but he can run into placings every now and then.

Race 3 - This is one of the better races on the card and i think Accardo is the one here. The last run was as good a pointer for a race like this that you're ever going to see. Got to the line strongly at the death after taking a while to wind up. Given the fact that run was over 1200m, the extra 200m looks ideal and i think he'll win this. NZ horses are killing us in these 2nd tier sort of races...lucky we got the group 1s :). Feelin Dandy was a nice enough run last time after having some good money placed on him in the ring and can go better tomorrow with a softer run. Good wet form too. My Son Day might just need to run in easier races to win, but i'll give him another go in the wet with the 1 alley. He might be able to improve with those conditions tomorrow. Who knows though :).

Race 4 - Think this Sirmione should go close here. With the run up here for experience under his belt, i think he can get away with this. To my eye, they aren't overly strong and so you wouldn't need a world beater to get over them. Sweet As has been looking for this journey and gets to it tomorrow which should give us a better idea as to where she is at. I was expecting more from her in recent starts, but getting to the longer journey might be the tonic she needs for an improvement. Monashee Mountain's are going great guns here in QLD too. Ima Joker won like an alright one the other day at Ippy, but i'm just concerned about the quick back-up...particularly since the horse sounds like he has some problems.

Race 5 - Best race on the card in terms of the quality of horses, i just wish they had more acceptances. With the rain coming, i think its a race in 3. Starlactic, Black Ink and Natural Destiny. I know thats not exactly a big call :p but you'll earn your keep picking the right one to back. Black Ink was a terrific run in the Straddy after leading and being on the wrong side of the track. Starlactic has been in super form, but there are issues surfacing about potential leg problems. Natural Destiny is the unknown in the area after coming up from Sydney. Given all the above info, i've settled on Starlactic even though hes got an injury cloud. I've been on him for his last 7 or 8 starts and i don't like to stop when a horse does so well for me :). I think hes really going places, even if he loses tomorrow. Handles the wet fine too. Black Ink, as i said, was a fantastic run last time....the weight is the concern tomorrow on the wet ground though. Natural Destiny won't be far off, and the connections have a very big opinion of him. Don't be surprised if he wins this comfortably...but i'll stick with Starlactic at this stage because hes got the runs on the board in these Brissy races.

Race 6 - The main race of the day, the winter stakes. Tough race actually. You could have 6 picks and not get a placing. Having said that, i really think Geelong Magestique has a huge hope here, at big odds. The last run was very good considering the ground di not suit her. With the rain coming, she is really brought into this race and so i think is well worth an E/W gamble. I've had an opinion of Funlove for a while now and i'll include her tomorrow, although i've got my doubts. Having said that the last run was good...those 3yo town races are frequently good form references. I've put La Sizeranne in for 3rd because shes got the light weight and you'd think that the EF 1500m would suit her down to the ground.

Race 7 - To be honest, i don't actually care. Maybe the top 3 have it in their keeping. Empyreal, Bazelle and Ring Of Fire, in that order, but i couldnt care less. These end-of-carnival staying races are pretty poor and having this as a group 3 is a joke.

Race 8 - Good one to finish on. I think its between Smart and Mighty and Daunting Lad. I've settled on Daunting lad. Who'd have thought drawing barrier 20 in a Stradbroke would be preferable to drawing barrier 4 before the race? Well thats the way it turned out and poor old Daunting Lad had no hope when he was stuck on the inside. His form prior to that was great and so i think he can go close in this. Smart and Mighty is the tried and true galloper in this field in that he has won at the track and distance (in very good fashion, i might add). I think they are both worth a wager and you shouldn't be too far wrong. I'll put Deuxieme in for 3rd because he tends to bob up in these sort of races every now and then and there should be sufficient speed on here for him to have his chance.

Overall, not a great days racing but there should be some good betting opportunities. I like Accardo and Geelong Magestique with eachway chances going to General Patton and Daunting Lad.

Good luck everyone,

Sven

What looks like will be a tough days racing with the rain about hard to say how wet it will be but I am guessing Slow anyway.

Race 1: I am thinking of going with the visitor here in Retract it has run some nice races in sydney in the past and he shouldn't have any trouble handling the wet most of the Flying Spurs get through it, Lust for Victory might be worth a look the wetter the better for it I feel and General Patton is an obvious choice.

Race 2: Hamah is racing well but I can't back him he just drives you nuts that horse gives you the impression that he is going to win soon but he never does aparently he hasn't since July 2004, Baron Ruthven is one I am interested in was a good run behind Anwaar last start and might be a horse with atleast a bit of talent about it also thought that Smarten Clssy might have a bit of a chance aswell.

Race 3: I like 2 of them here Fabiarna and Accardo might have something on the 2 of them I think tough to seperate them IMO will see what happens anyway.

Race 4: Terribly hard race this especially with the rain about Pirate Queen looked to have some ability last prep but it has gone out the window this prep maybe a real wet track is what she is looking for, I didn't mind Plachutta whose last run was pretty good considering and Sweet As should appreciate the step up in ground and probably deserves a win soon.

Race 5: Starlactic here for me bring on everyone else this is as good a sprinter as any going around Brisbane right now hopefully they will ride him just off the speed tomorrow to show the absolute best this horse has not to mention he loves the mud aswell hopefully everyone will jump on Natural Destiny it will just make the odds better for Starlactic.

Race 6: I have already had some each way on Geelong Magestique as if it is really a wet track I don't think we will get the $26 that was being offered today also thought it was a great run last start, La Sizeranne is obviously a choice but I didn't like her run in the Stradbroke at all had every single chance to really run that race out and I amnot that sure the step up in distance is going to help this horse, Octapussy would be one I would keep an eye on she gets in here beautifully at the weights and will be jumping out of her skin tomorrow Love and Money would be one I would include in your multiples aswell seems to like a wet track as alot of the Secret Savings do, I also wouldn't totally sack Miss Potential will probably be nice odds.

Race 7: Empyreal is the one they have to beat her grows another leg when the track is wet and by this stage the track should be an absolute bog he is the only one in the race I would want to back confidently I also thought if Zauberei was ridden colder he might be in the finish aswell.

Race 8: I really like 2 of them here Smart and Mighty and Silky Red Boxer might go for the later purely for the odds think it is a massive chance to win this race I also gave a small hope to Mr. Hornblower has been running very consistently wouldn't leave it out of your multiples.

All in all might be a tough day I won't get to see it anyway as I get to do Stocktake today joy, best of the day Starlactic Empyreal and Geelong Magestique e/w.

Glad i'm not the only one thinking todays are real hard betting day..,,this will be my quietest day in brissie for awhile.. Theres still rain around and the track may even get worse..
I think La Sizzeranne if the track is to choppy might struggle...also Deuxieme if by the last is running in a bog wont suit either..
Black Ink can run in the heavy,,,really liked that win in the heavy last prep..
...the only race i'm lookinmg forward to ..
also warming to Octapussy at the better value...
I still give Plachutta an outside chance,,,i think the breed will apreciate the wet..
I think its a day to tighten the purse strings ..I like starting the day full of running...so hopefully General Patton does the right thing or it might be a very quiet day at EF for me....

With the rail out 7m [or was it 9m?] and the track condt. a *** breakfast, it will be a bookies benefit day I think.

I like r2/3 Hamah
A few NZ wet trackers might pop up today.
r3/5 Accardo
r6/9 Focal point
r7/2 Empyreal

In the 'get out' last, a couple with odds might be worth having something on each R8/7 Bohemian Dancer and r8/10 Silky red boxer

Keep the fingers crossed today and lightly into the wallet :-))

Race 1 Cant go past General Patton....maybe retract and lust for victory in the multiples
Race 2 Stars O' Gold for mine. despite the poor win rate i cant see why he cant repeat his last start effort. Multiples: cut a caper and smarten classy
Race 3 im going with My Son Day i backed him at his last win 4 starts ago and ill put down his recent effort to the bad barrier. Very strong opposition in Grecolo and Anca.
Race 4 Im going with ima joker again after tipping him last week. ran a class record and despite the quick backup i see no reason he cant win again. Angel Girl big danger, she should fire. Sweet As lobbing somewhere behind these two
Race 5 Next Please.........lol what a race. Starlactic was ultra impressive last start but i really like natural destiny and black ink is the class horse. between those 3 but ill just sit back and enjoy watchin this race without a bet
Race 6 Great Race. Gee I Jane. just cant fault her form. i'd love to have funlove on top but she's been having a bad run with barriers lately and dont think she'll handle the track. maybe next start. big dangers star shiraz, might pay to forget her last run and also Octapussy. stepping back from the 2200 but beware
Race 7 I like Jymcarew even if he is starting in the grandstand. Le Bron query also with the barrier and track but i think the winner will come from these two. Hello Possums wont be too far behind
Race 8 Another horse ultra impressive last start was benedetti. smart and mighty will be there and consular might just show up today. I wouldnt touch deuxieme with a 10 foot pole unless it was to ram it up his donkey a-s-s

Well what a weird card. a couple of good races and few very ordinary ones. Best bet Gee I Jane. she's going too good form and that extra 200 wont hurt at all.
E/W Jymcarew
Best Quin race 8 Smart n Mighty and Benedetti
Best tri race 5 undoubtedly

Races 1 & 2: Awful - leave alone

Race 3: 5. Accardo looks the big improver. Won its 1st 2 starts, then a solid 2nd to the consistent Sarajay over 1400m and spelled. Hit the line when a close 2nd to Dulacca Diva on chopped up track at 1st Aust run. Will be fitter and looks the top chance. 1. Grecolo is consistent. Solid Guineas run last start after LR win over this course. Back in distance and up in weight no help, but wet track ok. 2.Anca is talented - she was on the fence in the Dulacca Diva race and didn't get into the finish when fav. 6. Feelin Dandy is 3 from 3 on wet and was solidly backed when 4th behind Dulacca Diva.

Race 4: Lightly raced horses with little wet track exposure. Cautious play on 2.Ima Joker (ran decent time winning at Ipswich last start; wet track ?) and 8.Angel Girl (form around Gold Edition and Pure Energy last prep, but by Rory's Jester ?wet).

Race 5: Natural Destiny has won 6 from 8 in NSW. Resumed with a 4 length C6 win on dead. No slow form. This race harder, but very promising horse on the minimum. Starlactic has won 10 of 17 & gets back to 1200m today. Slow track ok. One of these two should win.

Race 6: Gee I Jane is the class here. Came from last in the Stradbroke, wide throughout and kept coming for 2nd. Won BTC Cup Group 1 before that. 1st try at 1500 and tough with 57kg, but she'll give this a shake. 9.Focal Point is a Gr2 winner in NZ, 2nd up today. Loves the wet and, though suited over further, her 2nd up record is terrific.

Race 7: 3.Ring of Fire could give these and absolute towelling. Has won 4 from 7 including last start win over 1600m on heavy. Won the NZ St Leger over 2500m before spell. Looks the one - well suited 3rd up at 2200m and should win if travelled ok and settled in. 2.Empyreal is the other Kiwi wet tracker. Knocked up in Br Cup last start, but consistent in this type of race and will love the going. Knockout chance to 13.Zauberai who also loves the wet and showed promise last prep. Good fast finishing first up run when 4th to Masai Pride the fitness gave out last start. Fitter today.

Race 8: Daunting Lad is the one here. Wide throughout in the 10,000 and copped a bad check at the 800m in the Straddie. Much better suited in this weaker event, ready for the mile and can handle the conditions. Smart and Mighty rises only 0.5kg for a win at this course & dist last start. Likes the wet and will run well. One of these two should win.

Cheers

Hi Guys...a funny sort of day ....had to work which sukd but managed to see the 1st and 4th race....thought this morning it would be raining allday..been funny weather we've been having with some parts of Brissie getting hardly any rain at all..
will check the video tomorrow and see if there were any runs that should be noted..
Race 1.
2.80 about General Patton...not a bad start to the day......always looked the winner ..easy race with no surprises..
Race 2.
Scratched...
RAce 3.
Greccolo was alot better odds than i thought...happy to jump on and he was very brave......loss for me
Race 4.
BAcked Plachutta e/w ..did ok but the winner was very impressive..
another loss for me...
Race 5.
Good race to watch...misssed the bandwagon here with a few friends of mine cleaning up with Natural Destiny...,.i just needed to see the horse in the flesh to be confident enough...if i was at the track maybe ?? but hindsights a wonderful thing.
Race 6.
Stuck with La Sizeranne ...the track was ok i thought,,and racing fair...was happy with the $6...nice trifecta and a nice piece of the 1st4 was handy....
RAce 7.
Classic Karla was just flying at the end...would have been nice if he got a place..he owes me a bit now...
Race 8.
Backed Deuxieme...havent seen the race but it was typical Spirit of Tara would win after i'd been on him lately...0 for 5 in the wet and he wins this..deserves a win i suppose but it would have been nice if he did this last week,,,,(now i know how Raw felt with Cocolare last week),,,
All in all 2 from 6 ...happy with that :)

Other states.
Sydney
Thunderbirdrgo...loss
Macs Tune ..woohooo a nice win ...would have been nicer if i hadnt split the stake with Silkn Money but it was still a very healthy result...the tri was fantastic ..problem is with a split stake 1st4 i didnt have enough room for the 15 that got 4th...if i had gone souly on Macs Tune that 15 would have snuck into 4th....oh well.
Eastwestdancer..loss
still a very nice result in Sydney :)
Melbourne
Losses with General Conclusion and Marwina LAss
Toowoomba
Noble Gent ..loss
Benalla
Mathews Pick 3rd ..loss
Sparkling Now...woohooo good to see the nows win a race...
(Also backed Next Now alittle later..only a slab though at nice odds)
Belmont
Keyton Grace...to short..

14 races for me today with 4 winners..,,,more than i thought i'd be having a go at but i started nicely and that always gives me alittle confidence..
managed to jag some real nice divies ... and on a hard day i think you need these to help keep your head above water..

Well done Raw we seemed to pick a few even on a hard day...cant wait to see the videos and see how handy this Natural Destiny is..

ps..heard a whisper about Carlyle Arch in the next at Toowoomba....at the 6's not bad value..

I would have backed it Mav just didn't see it before the race.

Been a great day for me today by far the best I have had for ages I got Aerated, Hezabout & Chilli Stoush in Adelaide got a couple of nice placings in Brisbane with Pirate Queen, Empyreal & Silky Red Boxer aswell as Accardo and Spirit of Tara as winners then also got a nice win on Impatient Star in the last in Sydney.

To cap the day off I had a bet in the Golden Jubilee (trust me I had no idea here really just a bit of luck) Looked at that Les Arcs and saw it was beaten just over 1 1/2 lengths in the kings stand by Takeover Target and was drawn the wrong side of the track today it was drawn 4 and was $61 so I thought after the day I have had $10 e/w won't hurt ..... Well I was right it didn't hurt at all in fact if I hadn't gone to sleep on the couch waiting for the race (lucky I had the tape running) I probably wouldn't have checked the result and just got a very nice shock next time I log into my TAB account.
