Hi guys..in a hurry tonight,,so a quick preview for Brissie.

Race 1.
Not interested here ,,,Alberts Return is easily the obvious...very consistant and looks to good for these..but he'll be short ,,,but is you like the shorties.
Race 2.
Chasin Tail looks suited again here,,,theres a few here that could test him...Bikie Tin Blues is in great form ,,Radar Orielly has had a few excuses of late and capable here on this track with this weight,,,Cambric also has been hitting the line well...
The distance might be a worry with Chasin Tail ,,hes only tackled it once and that run was inconclusive,,,i'd be wanting around the 4's or better to be tempted here.,,
Race 3.
I liked Cocktail shakers last run up north..the horse performed well last time he was down here and he never runs a bad race..should get decent odds about him aswell.....(Buzz and Mervs Wish the dangers)
Race 4.
Persuades derserves a win ,,great run against Sir Monashee last start and the run before....likes the distance and track and
always puts herself in the race ,,,..Foxmore , General patton the dangers,,
Race 5.
A good race this one,,,like Mosso back on the firmer ground..the horse has been thereabouts in stronger races and unlucky not to win a few of them...Socialist ,Bold Reason , Sequestrate , So Chic all chances...
Race 6.
Went looking for the swooper in this race and Grandway Shogun looks well suited...horse has had the freshn and can run time down this straight..there will be heaps of speed up front here and this will suit...Sir Monashee who should take the sit behind the leaders is right in this aswell...
Race 7.
I'm a big Grecolo fan but not sure against the older horses this soon,,,,,,The top 3 are hardened performers against quality...Devil interests me ...horse has had excuses and if runs up to his Gold Coasts run hes right in this...should get e/ws s hes usually overlooked,..
Race 8.
Would love to back Skyleda ,,,but Silky Red Boxer looks super strong against this lot...the horse has way better form lines than the rest,, except for Benedeti (even with the weight is a big danger) ,,the barrier isnt helpfull though,,,these the top 2 on my ratings ...

Best bets, Mosso, Silky Red Boxer
Best e/w's, Persuades, Cocktail Shaker, Devil

Not an easy day in brissie,,,like some at value tomorrow ..,,would be nice to get a couple over the line...

G'Day all,

Sorry for the lateness of the thread, been out for a few tonight. Looks a good day tomorrow at EF, with rail true and track good. Fields are a good size, and the quality is still there for the most part. Lets see if we can find some winners....

Race 1 - Well this isn't a good start, hate the race. Maybe Snowcraft can do something over the longer journey. Seemed to get home OK last time (i didn't see the run) so the 1600m and EF should suit - the Monashee Mountain's are going great guns too. Albert's Return seems to be the one they want and he did win well last time, in pretty smart time. Good chance to, he won't be far off them from the good draw and if they don't pour the pressure on, he'll be right there at the end. Tayrhiana should get better with racing and a bit of ground, judging by what the trainer said (and what she did last time), but she might be a place chance tomorrow...because this isn't a great field.

Race 2 - Well, if there was more speed in this race then my selections would probably change heaps. But since all i can see is Lindalay and maybe Chasin Tail being close up, then i've got to settle on Chasin Tail. It was a dominant win last time (and they didn't forget to back him either), and altho he has more weight and is a doubt at the journey, a soft run near the lead should see him get it in this company. Strong chance for mine. Radar O'Reilly would've been my pick with another speedster in here, because he loves the EF 1600m and the 3 runs under his belt should see him cherry ripe for this assignment. Bikkie Tin Blues was a great win last time in the wet and i see that the trainer thinks there might be a few more wins in store for this bloke up here in QLD. If he keeps racing like he is at present, that might just be the case.

Race 3 - Like Muscle Up. Have liked this horse since him 1st start, and its just a shame that he couldn't pull it off last time, because he'll be fav tomorrow and will be well fancied from hereon in. Strange that McMahon has been engaged, but he was wide at Ippy last time on a hot speed and still managed to kick on well at the death. With a better run, no weight and a weak field, he should win this. William Street has a great record, but i doubt the quality of opposition he has been meeting. I'll wait until he performs well in town before i pick him on top. Having said that, he has obvious talent and should be included in multiples. Cocktail Shaker for 3rd because he is a pretty honest sort of a bloke and Smith seems to know what he is doing - when they come to town, they're generally there to win.

Race 4 - Tough race. If Spur Me On was 2nd up, i'd nearly have him a special. But since he is first up, and his first up record isn't all that great, i am not convinced. For that reason, imma stick with General Patton. He won really well last time, admittedly in a lower class event, but he did what he needed to. There seems to be heaps of pace here, and so i think General can sit off em and steam home over the top. Spur Me On will be in front and has been scratched from a few races prior to this engagement (no doubt dodging the wet tracks) so he should be ready for it tomorrow. Good chance, watch him 2nd up though.....probably around Doomben. Persuades is a nice horse too, i prefer her fresh too. Once she gets too many runs under her belt, i think her form tapers a little. 3rd up should be fine and she'll be there if given the right run.

Race 5 - I like Consider Yourself here. Has been running pretty good time lately, and although this is a tough race to win....the trainer knows what he is doing and so i will risk at eachway odds. You won't get anything flash because this stable attracts the money. The alley and the jockey help the cause too - there should be plenty of speed, so we can sit just off them. Sequestrate is a nice horse when right, but he has just run into the wrong horse or been given tough runs which have played havoc with his form. In this easier grade, and with the decent alley, i think he is a nice chance - market seems to have forgotten him too, which is nice. I would've had Rasmussen on top if i thought they'd accept, but given that no jockey has been listed, and the fact that this horse was scratched multiple times last prep, i don't think he'll be there. Promising horse though, can't wait to see him back.

Race 6 - They'll go like anything here. Theres nothing like these 1000m open sprints, it brings all the speedsters out. I might go for Steel Cap at big odds. Is a total speed machine, the 1000m suits perfectly i think. The alley is awkward, but if he jumps well, i think he can cross most of them. Given that, im willing to have a gamble on him. That's Better is a really nice horse, who has just been in the wrong race at the wrong time. Ran into both Starlactic (a few times) and Babinda Half last prep, which spells disaster. Given that there isn't any of those in this race, he is a definite chance...especially fresh. Grandway Shogun is quality, but generally goes better over a bit more ground. He may find the 1000m too quick, but is a place chance, for sure. I wouldn't recommend a large wager there though, those 1000m races are too risky for me.

Race 7 - Well, theres some speed here. Mitanni, Omnitrader and Umaprince will ensure that they don't get a rest. I like Smart and Mighty. I think he was on the wrong part of the track the other day and things just didn't go right. With a better track tomorrow, and given the hot pace, i think he is well worth a go. Byrne has stuck, which is a positive too. Grecolo has been in great form in the 3yo races, which are often great form races in Brisbane. I see that he is fav in the paper market - i wouldn't back him at $3, but he is a nice chance if the price gets out to about double that. He struck a good one in Accardo last time too. Don't worry about the beaten margin. Thats a very very good horse. Step Right In is about ready to show something too. After having the runs over the shorter journeys for fitness, the 1400m is about his go at this stage and i think he should be respected. The market will doubtless forget him because he was beaten 9 lengths last time, but he has form behind Hard To Catch last prep...not too shabby.

Race 8 - Bad one to finish on. Maybe Thee Auld Hussie, who finished hard the other day. Form is dubious with King of Soul failing during the week sometime, but i spose she should be respected on previous efforts. The weight is a slight concern too. Rapid Reason has been in great form lately, and i can't see any reason for that to change here. Good alley, Bowditch on (don't know why Pengelly isnt....) both point to a strong showing tomorrow. Skyleda's last run screamed 'back me next time', but the wide alley at the 1800m start has put me off a bit. If he gets a nice run, then wtach for him coming late. Thats a big if though, this is a nightmare start.

Overall, not bad tomorrow. A good betting day. My best would be Muscle Up, General Patton and Consider Yourself with eachway chances going to Steel Cap and Step Right In.

Good luck all,

Sven

Great day for odds I think. Gotta have a laugh at some of the PP favorites. A bookies picnic today, just to tidy up their profits after the carnival end last week.

If Brisbane doesn't get another dam soon the tracks will have to go to synthetic. Worst drought in 150 years. The track will be 'good' dry, dusty and full of bog like my 4x4. The short and not so sweet rains and carnival action will have made the Eagle Farm track a bit like our back road into Bairnsdale.
Plenty of good 'Lays' on some of the shorties if your into playing bookie today. R2 Chasin Tail [ 3 in a row? :-) ] is a good one to lay-up on betfair for a nice little earn to kick the day off and Silky red boxer in the last who hasn't won since Adam was a lad [3/04], is a good one to get out on !

For bets I'll be having a bit of e/w on these few that should have 'air odds:
R2 Two Dancers missed out with the big weight last start after 2 nice returns from a spell. 53kg Down 4 1/2 kg. for the step-up in grade but to a track that suits: 3 starts [1.0.1].

R4 Persuades finally gets a decent alley here after 2 bad ones and 3rd up is a good number as is the distance and track.

R6 will be the formula 1 speed race, so watch out for the big swoop coming from Imperialism first up from the ideal outside alley, with the Greek setting things up nicely.

R8 Seven Crownies [an omen bet after Bad's 9 Crownies post for sure] is ready to peak for this after doing the business over this distance last start on the Gold Coast.

Have good day and avoid the shorties !

Hi guys,,
No sven ,,didnt back Socialist for the win...when he won for me last time i thought that will do ...but had a great result with the multis ...Consular was good for the syndicate (in reality just paid for all the money we have lost on him recently) but a mate whos a consular freak had a huge amount on with his own money..so we've been celebrating ever since...his shout of course :)

General conclusion and Star Peril ,Cocktail Supreme and Kim Invader all winners today...some good results there ,,excellent exacta profits today...got a nice 1st4 and a bit of another...
Eagle Farm wasnt fantastic...not often i dont pick anything on top (alberts in the 1st was to easy)......but it was good to see Socialist and Consular win...both been good horses for me .....Socialist has always shown he had it in him and Consular forgets how old he is......
will post a summary when sober and had a look at the replays....

y not? [posted by Stix].

Why didn't I mention Sociologist here Stix?
Besides Sociologist, I didn't mention Orrong here either, as they were Persur's view of the meeting and his only 2 selections for it.

My selections here were my thoughts [7 crownies my only correct one] which weren't going to be a copy of Purser's selections. Didn't stop me benefiting on the Socialist's win in the comp. and in the pocket though, as unlike here, they were comp. selections [get them from wherever you like or handicap your own], not a meeting point of view which I posted here.

Great win by the All stars in the comp. Stix. Nice going by all of us:-))

Race 1.
Alberts Return always looked to good for them and did a few things wrong and still beat them easily...to short for me though
Race 2.
Didnt get the odds for chasin tail but did have a play with the multis here and was nicley suprised at the exacta..
Bikkie tin Blues was just outstanding...has jumped another level of late..
Race 3.
Nothing here for me.....thought Buzz was very honest as usual...and was nice to see Circus Maximus finish off the race well,,not usually ridden that far back and it seemd to suit..
Race 4.
Backed Persuades and was just no chance after racing wide,,,..Spur me on looked solid and was primed for this .....capable of going on with it next start...
Race 5
Every man and his *** was on Mosso including me...but Socialist was incredible ..hindsight i should have backed him aswell at the odds after following him for years...did have him in the multis..had the 1st4 in my 1st 2 lines....exacta was very nice .... Socialist doesnt owe me a thing now..
thought Sequestrate ridden to close battled on very well to finish 4th...Bold Reason should have finished closer,,no luck at all..
Race 6.
How unlucky was Sir Monashee...had to stop in the straight and start agin and still finished 3rd,,huge run...
i was very happy with Grandway Shogun..a ittle to nippy for him and he was ridden alot closer than i thought...but still a very good run..
Race 7.
Devil raced well with that sort of tempo up front..battled on nicely...Consular just keeps on keeping on.....
I backed Devil even though i was expecting better odds....
wish i had a piece of the 5 figures a friend of mine won on Consular ...celebrations went well into the night...(still feeling it)
Race 8.
Silky Red Boxer was ridden closer than i thought...,,had the good run though and was entitled to do better...Benedetti's run was the run of the day...wide , big weight and still ran on well...massive run...

i knew it was going to a tough day at the Farm...
got lucky with some nice multis...2nd and 5th race...the Socialist result was very nice ,,especially the exacta..,,,..still a loss at the Farm but not to much damage..

Sydney
Awfull
Our Jetsetter, Gumnuts, Prima Nocte ...all losing...
Melbourne
Umbula...loss
General Conclusion...woohooo nice win ,,nice odds and had the race rated 1,2,3 ..great result all round...
Adelaide
Akhton..to short,,
Star Peril...woohoo..just hung on ..needed this...
Gold Coast
Cocktail Supreme...promising horse this...very nice win..
Katenian...never got a crack at them...unlucky
Belmont
Kim Invader...another win,,,,in great form....keyton grace unlucky..

Another profitable Saturday that keeps this little dream run going......
Sydney really hurt and the unusual loss in Brissie meant we wont be retirering just yet but i'm happy with anything in the black as we are bound to hit a snag sooner or later..

Horses to watch,,Bikkie Tin Blues, Sequestrate, Circus Maximus, Benedetti. Bold reason..

Hope you guys had a good one...
