I'm a fan of Dan O'Brien and John O'shea. So for some interest I'd thought I'd post their runners - we will have collects!!

To add some spice I'll run a progression stake over their runners until we strike a winner and keep a running account.....

Gday stix...

they are 2 of the trainers I use in a betting plan based soley on Trainers and Jockeys... Those 2 guys go pretty well... I use a stack of em tho.. I like Paul Cave and Ronny Maund and a couple of the other less hi profile guys... Jockeys like Jessica Hill and Robbo (god rest his soul for 3 months any way) have proven pretty profitable.. Rachel Mason up North drives home the odd huge winner and is always worth a look...There are plenty of em if ya take the time to look... Finding the right ones to back is the hard bit..

And how do ya get that to format so well? I am 100/1 to get anything looking that good... cept the woman ofcourse LOL

the only thing I can come up with is, leave the odds on alone and bet dry tracks.. I know that is probably not what you are looking for... But flat stakes seems to work OK, for me... others will have other ideas tho

Good method!...., with the potential to be a profitable venture in the long-term. Both trainers are potential up and coming stars and are producing many quality runners.
However, could I suggest that you consider an investment strategy of 1unit for the win and 5 units for the place? On past results it showed good results. I utilised a similar method with my Brian Mayfield-Smith plan some years back and it was so successful it attracted the attention of a prominent magazine.
Good luck to you as with these two trainers I think you are on the right track.

Yeah, good win by the O'Shea horse,Cannon(HawkR4 2:25p.m.EST), ridden by the mercurial D.Beadman.
I was on the runner up, Five Bob, ridden by an apprentice. I was hoping that he could "steal" the race...but once I saw Beadman riding his mount with such authority I knew it was all over in the run to the line.
A case of "Master and apprentice."

With O'Shea's stable of stars there is no doubt that this Spring should be a very profitable period for stable followers.
We are sure he will place his runners to the best advantage and we followers should reap some very good prices. He is definitely the "up and coming " star trainer!

Yeah, In my everyday form study I also incorporate jockey/trainer form analysis and some time ago, I, too, identified the O'Shea establishment as a potential future profit-making possibility.
Accordingly, the depth of stars in his stable have continued to win listed and Group races and will continue to do so! Therefore, the astute punter should continue to follow stable runners and expect to return a very healthy ROI!

I have been following the progress/preparation of the following horses:

Men At Work
and am convinced that J O'Shea now has them ready to perform at their best in the upcoming group races. Do you agree?

SR6 2 Musaytir ran 2nd narrowly beaten after being caught in traffic and paid $1.90plNSW.
it returned a nice profit(1x5). So, the two runners, although not winning, certainly returned a respectable POT.

Isn't he the shortest -priced winner ever of this race?
Did you see the stats(courtesy of TVN....that in the last nine Saturday meetings, J O'Shea has trained at least one winner)!
He is definitely stamping his place in Sydney training ranks!
NB. Don't give up on Fooram and Men At Work after today's race(SR6....I left my money in the bookie's satchel with them(but, recouped it with Tawqeet) but will regain it soon....I am sure....follow these two horses!

Anyone have any opinion(s) regarding the apparent recent reversal of fortunes for the powerful O'Shea stable, both in Melbourne and Sydney?
Have most of his carnival stable stars now gone "over the top" or can we see a resurgence later today and in the near future and should we "stick solid"?
I am currently haemorrhaging from the 'hip pocket nerve" with this stable so I hope that Fooram can get things back on track and finish the big Melbourne week on a high note!
Otherwise, it's baked beans for the next week!

In a post race interview J O'Shea made it clear that he was less than happy with the ride.......but the bookies still pay....that's the important thing!

What else could happen to Just Mambo?
Just before the start he broke through the barrier, dislodged G. Boss who held onto the reins and was dragged on his backside for about 50m.
Surprisingly, the horse was then allowed to start(remember my thoughts on this matter).
He was going alright in the run until into the straight there was a bit of tightening and guess who was "flattened" by Empires Choice....yes...that's right, Just Mambo which continued to battle on and was just beaten in a photo for third by Raheeb! We may hear more from the Stewards.
That's racing I suppose!

Any Danny O'Brien fans out there?
In SR6 today my initial form study concluded that No.1 Honor In War had a very real chance.
However, I am still concerned with the 60.5kg impost although the rider, being S. Arnold gives me confidence because there will be less "dead" weight to carry.
The horse can handle the track conditions so are there any unforseen reasons why he shouldn't perform very creditably?
I look forward to any views from punters/form students.

Despite many scratchings due to inclement weather J. O'Shea secured the following results:
BR6 1 Reigning To Win WON $2.7w$1.6plNSW what an incredible victory after this horse raced at the back of the field and then "bossy" unleashed him in the final 200m to secure a memorable win....that is what racing is all about!
SR8 10 Flying Alpha WON $12.6w$4.0plNSW, defeating it's stablemate Strong Choice:
SR8 11 Strong Choice 2nd $1.7plNSW
NSW quinella paid: $22.60
NSW exacta paid: $51.30
so, a very "succulent" result from this "power" stable!
Not so lucky with S. Arnold/D. O'Brien but there will be better days I can assure you!

Although D. O'Brien failed to train a winner today a "smart" punter should have secured a healthy POT investing in the ratio of 1x5:

Absolut Glam comes from behind and there is no pace in the race, so shouldn't have much trouble slotting in. Hasn't been ridden for 25 days though which might be a worry. Might be there to smell the roses and gain some fitness.

Only Bourgogne and Grand Journey have run the 1600m before and Bourgogne scored a win [Cran. Maiden]. Grand Journey scored a close up 2nd twice to Tan Tat De Lago over the distance at W'bee [RS1mw] and the Valley [Open].

Danny O'Brien was on the Today program this morning outlining the effect this scourge has had on his stable although, thankfully, no outbreak in Victoria yet and let's hope it stays that way.
I am a little concerned about the apprentice rider and the wide barrier today but as crash said-if it is ridden in a competent manner it may be a good chance of winning or being amongst the place-getters.

Well.........!
followers of Danny O'Brien, like me, will be dining out in a fine restaurant tonight.
There was never any doubt in my mind that Danny O'Brien would scale the heights that he has now achieved.....and good luck to him!
I'm sure that Stix would agree as he started this thread which for followers has provided the chance to make a big dent in their mortgage payments if they "stuck solid."
Make no mistake, Danny has not finished yet and he has obligations to his legion of owners to keep churning the winners out.....!
Undoubtedly, he will continue to do so....punters would be wise to follow this rising star!
POT(1x5) today = 138.6%! Betting for the win only obviously returned a better result but that is an individual choice.

I saw glimpses of the free-to-air coverage...just enough to hear John O'Shea comment that the O'Shea household can eat again.....meaning the income/fee he received for being a guest commentator.
It's not that bad is it.......?

How he keeps freshining up Gallopin for a 1800m + 2000m respectively is beyond me. let alone winning them.

I cant cop that betting wise so missed out but thats either some horse or some trainer (danny)

Yeah, he's pretty good and is amongst the leading trainers in Melbourne/Oz.

You can't beat a skilled jockey who has evaluated the going which best suits his mount.

O'Brien is a good trainer, but knowing which of his horses to bet on is the problem. Backing them all will put us in the poor house [like many other good trainers]. His winners have no rhyme or reason to latch onto that I can see. If anyone thinks differently, please explain precisely.
