If on Thursday you did your money cold like me at Ipswich, don't throw away your handicapping methods, because we were all duped by the stewards and track manager !
There were some reliable racetrack sources who said someone had left the sprinklers on all night, yet stewards had 8 races to notify the poor mug punter that the track was officially 'slow' yet failed to do so. Most jockeys and trainers spoken too were also of the opinion the track was 'slow'.
Race 1 was run in 1.07.03 for the 1100 metres trip.
Race 8 1500m took 1.34.36 to run.
The races in between were also similarly plodding times, which for Ipswich are 'slow' times, yet officials didn't seem to notice.
The racing industry is wondering why punters are deserting racing in droves for other gambling pursuits. Look no further than Thursday's outrageous treatment of punters for a typical example as one of many reasons.
