3 men pay 10 dollars each for a 30 dollar hotel room.the management realizes their was a special of 25 dollars for the room.he gives the bellboy 5 dollars to refund them. the bellboy thinks okay i cant divide5 dollars between the 3 guests so i will give them 1 dollae each back and pockets 2 dollars so each man effectively pays 9 dollars each.question 10 each paid less 1 dollar = 9dollars.3 men times 9 =27 2 in bellboys pocket.wheres the other dollar gone.

OK DarkyDog... you really had me going there... hurt my brain. But I think it should be that you are looking at 3 x $9 = $27 less the $2 in the bell boy's pocket = the $25 they were actually charged.

Hi Darkydog,
You old trickster you. The truth is that there is no extra 1$. The actual room cost was $25, the three men ended up paying $27.
$27-$25 = $2 which is what the cheeky little Bellboy kept....that's embezzlement!
Rumour has it though he splurged it all by backing Bel Esprit last Saturday at $1.40....serves him right I say!
