So, going by those figures, he hasn't actually been out of the placings in his last 17 rides and he's won 9 of them!!! Can that possibly be right???

Yeah, I noticed this Ginger.
I also watched him ride Loves Here into 2nd place at Cranbourne Sat.
Had invested $24-00 on the Cran. quad. and had Loves Here, a solid $2-80 fav., going for a return of $775-00.
I reckon this brings my tally of 3 winners and a 2nd., in quadrella investments, to around 30, from the last 40 tries.

Good post Ginger. There is no doubt jockeys & trainers do have their runs. Duric is on one at present after being quiet for so long. I know this is a little after the event - I was going to post soon after you started the thread - but Peter Mertens has also started a run. Note a long priced winner today as well as some winners/places in line with Duric. Ginger, I think you mentioned there is a meeting at the Valley on Thursday. I know Mertens has had good success there in the past - maybe look for any outsiders he's riding. Has anyone noticed the run of D Freedman from late last year? He went very quiet for a while early/mid 2003. I think there may have been an investigation/positive swab from one of his runners pre this time.
Makes you wonder. Why do jockeys/trainers have these runs after periods of quiet - call me cynical if you like. If you can pick up on these you can get some good winners. Remember the Prebble/David Hall combo of Spring 2002 I think it was.
Finally as noted on another thread, jockeys do have good runs on a particular meet ie if they salute early they can go on & have a good flow of winners/places for the rest of the day.

Cheers

i,ve heard people talking about gai having a bad run of outs could be the same problem,

usually top jockeys are overbet and are of no value to the small punters??? jockeys like v duric,m pay, nifty,d pires,b hull,p mertens etc
when they strike that purple patch knock out some good pried winners. p mertens rode three winners today totango $52win/$9 place
