Do you think colts should carry 3kg more than
the fillies in the golden Slipper ? This ruling has been in force for the last 40 years. (I just seen it on the TV news). Or does that apply to all races. What do you think folks? Is it luck that in the last 4 years fillies have won or are they being bred bigger and stronger than before. If thats the case then they must be making the colts even better I know you all have your thoughts and ideas on the subject so lets hear them.

I think its fair enough.

Wait until a few more years. If the fillies continue winning perhaps we should look at it, but a good colt should always beat an outstanding filly.

All this hooha about the 3kg advantage has only surfaced because of the dominance of Alinghi. If you look at the last 10 years the score is 5 all.It should have been 6 to the colts & 4 to the fillies except for Encounter taking over Shane Dye & throwing the race away.Heard one of the bigwigs from the STC on radioTAB saying they will be discussing it at next weeks board meeting, but at present have no intention of changing it.He also pointed out the overall figures, and I cant remember them exactly, but it was something like 27 wins for colts & 20 for fillies. If the breeders are allowed to get away with using steroids & growth hormones unchecked we will have no shortage of big fillies like Alinghi, who looks more like a 3YO.If she wins the Slipper as I think she will, there will no doubt be more pressure brought to bear on the powers that be to instigate change.
