Hi Chrome Prince; just joined. Can you indicate which days you are going to provide selections (just wednesday and saturday?) and an idea of strike rate and %POT.

Hope you don't mind - and look forward to giving it a try.

Selections will be made on any metro racing day only.

jaffa,

ten bets didn't lose.

There were three winners.

I put in the horses that ran second, just to show the place strike rate and how close some of the losing bets were. All dividends are for the win.

Hope this is clearer.

Cheers.

Hi Jaslyn. Welcome to the forum.

CP, all three winners were higher on Unitab... Scenic Mist 1.90, Our Lyndon Boy 2.70, Bawclass 3.60.

I'm using TABCORP for reporting purposes.

There will be a mix of short medium and long priced winners.

The selections are from four seperate strategies, I've been following for a while successfully. Today was a day for the shorties...tomorrow who knows?

With your Belmont selections yesterday Chrome Prince, did you factor for slow track?

Chrome Prince
4th July 2004, 11:28 AM
Hi Paddy,

Well Perth certainly looked ordinary on the scoreboard didn't it?

No, I didn't actually as the database just spits out the contenders. The one thing is that overall the selections show a 10% POT in Perth even if slow or heavy. So it wouldn't have altered the selections.

Chrome Prince,

Do you intend to post indefinitely (or so to speak) or is there a particular target in mind?

Thanks

Hi sportz&all,

I'll post for at least 12 months for races on metro tracks only.

Bit of a wobbly start, but I'm confident a substantial profit will be made within that period.

If this system runs through the wet season wouldn't it be better to factor-in for track condition somehow Chrome Prince? and inrease the profit.

You're right, but track condition doesn't change the result better or worse in the longrun based on past data.

There is something factored in already which partly covers it, but not fully.

Paddy
21st July 2004, 07:50 AM
Doesn’t look that well weighted (compared to a couple of other horses MYTHALO has recently met) IMO, but well drawn & does have the services of Stephen Miller. Happy to be proven wrong Chrome Prince.

Chrome Prince
21st July 2004, 12:52 PM
There's certainly a few dangers in the race, most prominently the two topweights, who are very consistent in their few starts Open Class. Mythalo has won two of the last four starts in pretty good time.

Mythalo is certainly not home for all money, but is a good eachway chance and was only beaten 2L last start, I'd think I'd get a decent price given the others "look" better on paper.

Just seen #2 Arctic Park is scratched, perhaps the price won't be so hot

The place return is around 4% POT with a 45% strike rate (roughly).
I'm betting win only because in the long-run the POT is far greater.
Very frustrating today, but there's always next week!

Only by a nose Paddy!

Actually, the results have been much better for the place than the win since posting, but history says win betting is more productive.

Perhaps the horses are running to the line thinking "I'm on the propun forum, can't win - but I'll bloody well run a place!"

G'day Partypooper,

Yep, very easy to throw in the towel after a couple of ordinary weeks, but stay tuned, the winners are out there and these type of systems have long losing streaks before the bucket fills.
Very easy to look at the tips and say they're no good, I've done it before, but just when you're about to give up, two or three 20/1 shots will bob up.
I know I'm knocking on the door with so many placings from the selections.
I don't need to collect every day or every week, if the odds are sufficient to recoup a month's investment.

Hi Crash.Good to know you are hanging in there also but by gee its been a tough winter.I should have a holiday then too.
As in the above letter I did a bit of checking and recording of various sites around the traps over the winter and got to say I am absolutely appalled at the level of selecting from these so called "experts".
In the majority of cases one would do better with a pin.
The research was quite valuable in that it gives one the knowledge of WHAT TO AVOID.
Good luck with your punting .

Hi Geez,

Unfortunately there were no system qualifiers for Perth, which is the first time in ages, usually there are more in Perth than any other State.

Sorry about that.

Gday Chrome

It was entered at Newcastle today.. In race 5
I had on top there... I didnt do the Sydney Race it ran in.. I think it was a restricted class on a Sat so as a rule I look on .. but from the sounds it was a good win.

Hi ubetiwill,

They are the only qualifiers from a pool of three seperate systems. I don't just post some contenders, I post them all, but they are made up of three seperate set of criteria.

Carlita Miss beaten a nose by a 70/1 shot, perhaps I should also be picking horses with long noses

The reason there are such a small number of selections, is that strict criteria mean that a whole lot of good horses are turfed out for horses capable of winning at better odds.

Thankyou Sportznut, wasn't enough to pull us into profit for the day though. I am dropping one system from the group as it's the one dragging down the profit and strike rate badly. There are two remaining systems which are performing well and will continue to post those.

Do you mind listing how the different systems have gone? I think you may have actually sent me the rules to one of your systems (the one which picked Temple Spirit), but I think I might have lost them.

Sportznut,

Sure makes a difference which price you get doesn't it?

I have to stay with Vic divvies though as this was the starting rule and method of reporting.

The system I'm dropping is pretty much a longshot system, but since July has performed well below previous and I'm sure it will pick up, but not to my liking (too long between drinks and too much risk).

I'll report back on how each system has performed when I do an update of my database in December.

suds
8th November 2004, 11:49 PM
Why such relatively small outlays when you have a bank of $10,000?

Chrome Prince
9th November 2004, 12:22 AM
suds,
Betting 1% of the bank on each selection, betting higher only when in profit.

Betting larger amounts is risky when the performance has been negative so far and 10 bad bets leaves you 10% down. Hard to come back in front with larger wagers.

This is just my method, and it's not perfect.

Back from holidays with a renewed enthusiasm. Last week I didn't post because of lack of access, but there was a $50 profit which I won't include in the results. I'm theme parked out, but had a blast

Could you possibly post those selections anyway, just to let us know what they were?

Hi Sportznut, kiwiz.

Great to see some loyal followers even though I'm a little embarrased by the performance. Still it could be a lot worse after nearly 6 months.A good day would see me bounce into profit because the loss is small by comparison and the win of Johnny Reb bodes a good day.

Last week's selections were:

Ascot Race 6 # 5 Squaw Hunter -
Ascot Race 8 # 4 Who Did It 2ND
Eagle Farm Race 6 # 3 Regal Punch $4.50
Morphettville Race 1 # 1 Sharakazar 2ND

For a profit of $50 on the day but won't include this result as the selections weren't posted before the event.

System 2

Selections 422

That's what I was thinking. Perhaps if you had not included such races in this thread, you would be ahead??? Then again, I suppose as soon as you start leaving those ones out, they will start winning.

Hi sportznut,

Yeah, what I meant to say was, where one system picks two horses in a race, then leave the race altogether, but where seperate systems pick different horses (like today), then have a go. Overall I think it evens out.

Having said that...you know what's gonna happen today just to leave egg on my face.

Talk about a forum hoodoo, two other systems I was doing well on took a dive as soon as I started posting them, before in real time I was well ahead with a lot of past history too. Since posting I've had to drop them altogether.

Ho hum.

Yep, was looking rather bleak before the last winner, but Bondy was beaten a head and Danny Blue copped a check two or three times in the last 400m.

Still, made a $140.00 loss on the day to my grief.

Trying to nail "the winner" can be a thankless task.I keep statistics on tipsters polls (pretty well just for interest). Ian Craig who is head and shoulders above the rest could manage a big fat "zero" with his first pick yesterday, the 26th.Yet five out of eight of his second choices were winners.

That was more or less the scenario for the four major venues yesterday,(sorry you sand gropers). When you select four horses per race it's not too difficult to become an "expert" tipster. Those experts would be on the breadline pretty quickly if they were paid on the result of their first selection.

Out of interest,Craig hits the jackpot (with his four tips) 77% of the time. The worst of them (who will remain anonymous) manages 45%.For me those results seem to underline the disadvantages of punting with single bets.Lolol and following media tipsters.
I enjoy reading all of the different ideas and new systems here on the forum and really admire someone who has the ticker to post single selections.Good luck,, good punting..

Are you talking about just the 2KY/Sky tipsters? If so, I'll take a stab that it's that Adelaide guy???

Purely speaking profit/loss wise, I think Radiotab's Shane Templeton, Brendan Cormick and Chubby Holloway aren't too bad.

Yup the 2KY tipsters.

Curiously two of the worst performers are South Australian tipsters.I'm not sure if that's their lack of competance or some kind of indicator to stay away from CrowEater Country.

Love the thread, but I've just got one question. How many systems are you using at the same time? I remember reading earlier that you were using a few and I'm just wondering if you are still persisting with them all or have you thrown in the towel with any of them.

Cheers.

Hi!
I like your honest approach to posting. You post your selections and results regardless of outcome, unlike some who boast about some big winners after the event but we never see the selections and strikerate before the races run.
Cheers and good luck in 2005!

Hi TenFour,

Originally there were four systems but I've cut it down to two as the long run of outs before a winner was killing it. Unfortunately I cannot specify price cutoffs before a bet, but if I did, it would be a lot more profitable , but a lot less bets - as small as maybe 1 a week sometimes.

So there we have it, the Titanium Tips are Lead Tips or Titanic Tips without price filters.

I'm looking at a new strategy for the New Year that will give a lot more action and profit hopefully.

Thanks Iomaca,

May shift to ratings in the New Year on selected races only, but will always post the profit and/or loss on my selections, as without it I cannot keep track of my own endeavours, and newcomers to the forum might be misled by what looks like a good thing.

Ladies and gentlemen, Titanium Tips are back for 2005!!!!

I will continue the profit and loss reporting from the debt where we last left off, last year. I have found a way to trim the selections using prepost prices as a guide, so we'll battle on to see if we can make a profit out of a loss.

I have abandoned incorporating ratings in my tips for now.
