Just thought I would put this one up here for everyone to have a look at the best pacing race in Australia abd usually the best to find value in. I am currently looking at Flashing Red, Mont Denver Gold and Oscar Wilde haven't had a great look through the form yet am basically going on what I have seen them do. Te Kanarama was a very good run last start but I would think it is unders at around the 5-1 mark thought Flashing Red was every bit as good a run.

The Falcon Strike, Flashing Red, Yound Rufus, Mont Denver Gold and Blue Gum Forrest have all been the best of the shorteners over the last day or so. I did just hear them say that there has been alot of money australia wide for The Falcon Strike.

Glad to hear that Brian didn't see the run last week his run the week before that was awesome though have backed Flashing Red and gone E/W on Mont Denver Gold and Oscar Wilde at great odds had a trifecta and a quinella as well I will either do my ass on this race or end up very happy.

HUNTER CUP (FNL FLD)

THE WARP DRIVE $3.85
ELSU $4.00
TE KANARAMA $5.25
THE FALCON STRIKE $6.00

ELSU is an out and out champion, there's absolutely no doubt about it.

What were they thinking on The Falcon Strike, you cannot sit in the death seat the whole way round a Hunter Cup!
You either sit one out and one back with cover or come from the tail on the back of something. To pull off a death seat win, you gotta be confident your horse is better than the rest of the field, or that some bolter is going to challenge and give you cover.

Still and all TFS should have run a place maybe third. Nothing could have beaten the greatest horse in the Southern Hemisphere (ELSU).

I have to admitt I doubted Elsu myself it had not really produced it's best over here and the only runs I have seen from NZ were when Just an Excuse seemingly outsatyed it both times. Elsu beat the best field we can put out there and beat them so easily it wasn't funny the strange thing for me was that all the placegetters were all on the pace nothing really ran on all that well might have had something to do with a very stiff head wind in the straight not sure there.

Elsu was an enormous run sat 3 wide for last lap without any cover and then made the best horses in oz and kiwi land look like hacks, cant remember when i have been more impressed by a run.
Only need to reproduce that and will win his home interdominion.

cheers

I backed Young Rufus and got myself excited for a while.
As the race turned out,did I end up getting value for my money at the $22?
Even though the horse lost I consider I got overs.

Might have been value Moeee but it also could be argued that Elsu was amazing odds at 5-1 or that Howard Bromac who is always a place chance in these races paying around $10 for a place. I agree that Young Rufus was probably good value but tyo be perfectly honest there were not many horses in that race that weren't Flashing Red has as good a form as any horse going into the race and I got him at 11-1 on fixed odds during the week sure he didn't win but hey the winner is a champ nothing wrong with running second to that.
