Hi to Sportz and Co.

I am hopless at systems and the like but have been interestingly following the forum for a few weeks now.

I am usually able to select a winner or two each day, but ultimately dont come out on top as i have too many bets.

I have gone through my records and have found that if i stick to my better bets (or Bet) of the day regardless of price i would come out on top.

I thought i might place some of them on the forum and see if you can let me know if you agree, give comments or even suggest who might beat it, I would really enjoy that.

Looks pretty good to me, but you may even struggle to get $2.50.

Yes, very good idea to try to restrict the number of bets. On Saturday, I actually liked about 15 races, but when it came to my 'best bets', they were Lad Of The Manor, Regal Roller, Raid The Royals, Red Oog, Shania Dane and Celtic Trial, so 5 wins and a 2nd from 6 bets. If I had stuck to just these 6 horses, I would have been WAY in front, but of course I couldn't do that. :o

I agree, restrict yourself to your best bets. How good a thing was Celtic Trial Sportz, i was certain he'd be odds on.

Yeah, well done Dalmacia. As I said, you might struggle to get that $2.50. :)

Yes yesterday proved to be a typical punting day, tell me if im wrong.
You pick a best bet for the day.

You have a few bets until the race so you can have more to bet on it.

The race arrives and you see the price at $1.70.

You spew becaue the money you have to back it will not recover your losses for the day.

So you take a trifecta and miss out with 3rd place.

You say to yourself why didnt i just wait and back it like i was going too this morning.

Sound Familiar.

Thanks to all the replies yeterday and its allways good to pick a winner.

Today is a more difficult assignment.

I will again pick only one and again try to stick to my guns.

However please feel free to add comments , prices and reasons why it cant win or will be beaten by another horse.

Kembla Race 6 No.8
Ponte Picollo

PS.
Sportz i liked your comment yesterday about my selection and the price, so i was not surprised when it came up so short. I think it ran a track record as well.

But i did back it.

Hello Dalmacia:

Welcome to the best horseracing message board in Oz. Even us yanks come here to try to learn Australian horseracing and to get a pick or two.

Good pick yesterday. I always have an extra hard look at anything Beadman is riding. He handicaps his own riunners, and only takes rides he thinks he has a good chance on. He won both of his starts at Wyong yesterday.

I like Dr. Green, the # 1 horse at Kembla race 7. Also like Peace Ruler, #3 in the 5th at Sandown. Probably no decent odds to be had on either, and I am a terrible handicapper. Still I must post my best bets now and then to keep my humility. At least my picks entertain the folk here, since I usually lose. Maybe I'll be lucky and get a scratch on one or both.

Again, glad you're here. There are some excellent handicappers here, which you will see in time.

Regards,

Glenn

My friend at the Chicken shop reckons I have been betting like a blowfly (hes a part owner in Regal Roller) So DISCIPLINE is the key not to mention a staking plan. Im sure that if you have a fair staking plan (and the readers here would be more than willing to share) you will come out on top. Have you thought about putting your method of selection on the forum? My fear was that it would **** the odds however everyone here is acutely aware what should be done (me thinks mums the word). So post with freedom.

Wishing you the very best

Chris

Good stuff mate. You can even lose tommorow now and you won't be sad. Gotta love Meatloaf.

Again thanks to all those that responded yesterday.
But lets put things in perspective.
Its not that i picked two winners that no one else thought could win.
The prices were very short.
As i said in my original post, i dont use a system as such and i am not capable of rating horses eiither.
As a punter of many years i have learned to watch and remember races and horses that have had good runs.
Eventually i started to take notes and record horses that performed well in previous starts.

If i were to list yesterdays other runners i liked we would all be very dissapointed.
but i have tried to narrow things down regardless of price and pick something i really thought would win.

I really enjoy this forum and can see that there are many more on here that have a beter grasp of things than myself.

Hopefuly we can continue to assist each other in finding that elusive winner.

Yep, picking out only the best is definitely the secret.

My best is Alinghi on Saturday and i'm saving myself to BET BIG, she will kick Fasnet's brains in, that's my actual analytical assesment.

Great work Dalmacia! Pity I didnt back it....hahaha..thought I knew better...I have a discipline issue which I need to master...cant stay away from betting on lots of races that I did not intend to bet on...gamblers anonymous help me!!!

Always seem to get lots of great tips from the forum but profits get reduced cos I need to have a little flutter on this or that...

Good luck with future selections! If Alinghi cant beat the Rock this weekend shell never beat him...read that hes on fire in his training work...
