Thanks to those that offered advice concerning the problems with transporting fields from the RISA site.
With the installation of the opera browser and playing around with excel I am now back in business.( not quite as simple as before but)
I would be interested to here from a computer expert their views on why the opera browser allows for selecting and copying from the RISA site and the TAB, whereas internet explorer does not.

If you look at the source code of the RISA page you will find a line relating to IE and Netscape the two most popular browsers "DisableRightClick"
Opera and the other less known browsers are immune to this command, but rest assured if they are as bloody minded as they appear to be, it will only be a matter of time before they close the loop-hole.

I fear you are right.
I have installed another browser. (firefox) which seems even better than opera.
If in the end they close this loophole, there is still the option of emailing the page, saving it as text and then pasting into excel.

If they have disabled right click can't you just highlight the page and use Ctrl+c to copy it

You can also use macro wizard to select View/Source/Edit/Select All/Copy/Paste to Excel and then edit out the non relevant parts using an excel macro.

Right click is disabled and the page cannot be highlighted by using edit, select all.
I have found that using firefox as opposed to opera, the details paste into excel in the proper columns.
With opera, the weight, barrier, ratings headings ended up on top of one another at the left hand side of the page.
The race details also stretched across one line and out of sight requiring scrolling to read.
