Very impressed with the determined Wigan performance vs Chelsea - anyone else see it? I thought that Chelsea would easily win 2 or 3 nil. Instead a freakish strike in the last coupla minutes by Crespo was all that seperated the two teams. Might keep a close eye on Wigan to see if they can repeat the performance.

Yeah Mad i saw the game, Wigan were VERY unlucky to lose it in the last 30 secs considering they had a great chance to score 30 secs earlier. They have recruited well after promotion and have a team capable of staying up.

I know its early days but i think it could be a long season for Sunderland (i hope, considering i support Newcastle :D). Blackburn might do it tough this year as well, still seem to have a leaky defence, it all depends on how Bellamy performs up front for them. Newcastle played well and were unlucky not to get a 0-0 draw after Jenas was wrongly sent off and Arsenal were given a dubious penalty with 10 mins left, if we get Michael Owen before the transfer window closes i could se us making Europe next year :).

Great to see a EPL (soccer thread) thanks Sportz...sorry have had so much on my plate...Floydyboy mentioned the BBC site...Mark Lawrenson (Lawro's tips) is one of the better pundits around and worth consulting if considering a bet on the Premiership...have followed Chelski for years and with the Roman chucking roubles around it has been fantastic...Mourinho will find it harder to match their defensive efforts of last season and will have to score more freely this year...first months are always a settling phase and sometimes new or lower teams can get on a roll and are worth backing...esp if they get a win first up!

I had a bit of a go at an Arsenal /Chelsea double last week
and a real decent go at Chelsea ...I considered myself very lucky to get out of that with my shirt after watching arsenal for about 75 mins and kissing the double goodbye as I nodded of ..Im glad I didnt sit up for the Chelsea match ...the nerves would have been janglin that hard I wouldnt been able to sleep after ....Mans a mug for betting big this early in the season ...Im gunna pull my head in for a few weeks at least

Same here Floydy. Just offering my thoughts. I will wait for a week or two before having a punt outright on any of the major european soccer competitions. I have included a few games in selected multi bets and been lucky like your good self but nothing major at this early stage of the season.

Good old Denmark, served it up to the Poms 4-1. Woo-Hoo! As usual the British tabloids are going ballistic.

Anyway, these games i will be having a punt on - so best of luck to me.

United over Villa - too strong at home plus seem to be in good form at this early stage @ 1.30 TABNZ. (Hope P57 doesn't see this) Thinking 2 maybe even 3 - 1 so Over 2.5 @ 1.89 Betfair.

Liverpool over Sunderland, similar reasons @ 1.32 Betfair to win. Over 2.5 is also appealing @ 1.89.

Lay Charlton to win @ 1.89, think Wigan are a chance for a draw at least.

Similarly i will be laying everything i can get, including Chelsea to win - not impressed with their performance against a dogged Wigan last weekend. Arsenal with +0.5 goal start @ 1.87 Pinnacle

Best of luck for the weekend boys and girls and i'll see ya when i get my glasses.

Yeah Jack sometimes I just look at things and think how can they get beat but as P57 intimates. Show me a bet that wont get beat and sure as eggs it will

What sort of Glasses would they be MAD ...Pots or Pints ...........you have mail

I was lookin at the asian handicaps ,the odds are a bit skinny (i think) Ive got $20.68 spare change sittin in my account I might just spend that and go for broke on the $4.30(which equates to bees dick under 4.10 after commisson) that betfair are offerin on the Gunners ....Thiery was quiet last week but from what I saw ,Newcastle stacked the defence (why wouldnt they )every time I looked they seemed to have most of their team cloggin up the box. Granted Chelsea were(are) the best defensive team in the league but Arsenal have got some firepower when they put it together ..So have Chelsea but $4.00+ to me is over the odds for a team with so much talent .....I think Manu providing they can keep their players reasonably injury free will have a much better season than last year, they got rolled a few times last year when they realistically shouldnt have .I dont think thatll be the case this year (wishful thinkin maybe?)But I wont be takin 1.28 about em ........ thats ya lot '
.............good night / morning

Man U look good early and will score more goals...my observation has been that the squads that have lots of new players take time to settle so its an opportunity for new or settled squads to steal points early in the season...a lot of the lower teams also start well at home but fail to convert points away which creates potential for good home team bets...West Brom, Newcastle and Charlton possible examples...anyway, picking Chelsea will beat Arsenal but this is more gut than anything else...

Liverpool should take the 3 points and the rest look like draws or close at the very least...good luck!!

My tips for the weekend:

SAT Man United WIN vs Aston Villa

SAT Blackburn WIN vs Fulham

SAT Charlton WIN vs Wigan

SAT Liverpoo WINl vs Sunderland

SAT Newcastle WIN vs West Ham :)

SAT Tottenham WIN vs Middlesbrough

SAT W.B.A WIN vs Portsmouth

SAT Birmingham vs Man City DRAW

SUN Bolton vs Everton DRAW

SUN Chelsea WIN vs Arsenal

Hopefully the home teams have a good weekend!!!

In the big game i have gone for Chelski, Arsenal played poorly last week against 10 men for the majority of the game, they didn't have any rhythm to their attack, they were missing passes etc. Chelski played well i thought against a very determined Wigan side, although they didn't derserve to win they played much better then Arsenal.

Hey all

I've taken 6 units on Chelsea to beat Arsenal tonight
Realistically $2.00 for Chelsea at home is pretty darn good
although anytime you get close to $4.00 for Arsenal is also quite good

However on last seasons home form, Im tipping Chelsea to win

Good Luck!

OK, OK - I've learned from my mistake.

Tipping Chelsea to win this week, the goal being scored by the keeper or perhaps the Ref. I expect a cross or some such, the ball will bounce around for a while, off the bar, rafters, make its way down through the crowd getting wedged up the goalies arse at which time he'll do a double twist half pike and fall over the line. Bingo 1-0 Chelsea win.

Where is everyone - Off spending your Chelsea winnings from last week?

Anyways I'm gonna have a go at United away to Newcastle.
And since i can't seem to seperate Middlesbrough and Charlton, i'll guesstimate Middlesbrough at home or perhaps a draw. I think i may lay the Charlton win. I dunno really, can anyone suggest another course of action?
