Rule 1: Operate on 3YO+ and 4YO+ handicaps on metropolitan tracks, but do not operate on slow or heavy conditions.
Rule 2: Distance of the race must be 1200-2400 metres or 2800-3200 metres.
Rule 3: Consider only three-year-olds and four-year-olds.
Rule 4: Must have a Whiteway rating of 50 or over. (Whiteway ratings can be found in Winning Post formguides.)
Rule 5: Must not be first-up.
Rule 6: Race must have from five to 12 runners inclusive.
Rule 7: Must be pre-post favourite priced from evens to 4/1 inclusive.
Rule 8: Eliminate if having its fifth or sixth start.
Rule 9: Eliminate last-start winners.
Rule 10: If unplaced last start, its odds last start must have been from 11/1 to 16/1 inclusive or have been 40/1 or over. (There is no such restriction if the horse finished second or third last start.)
Rule 11: Must have finished no more than 20 lengths from the winner.
Rule 12: Last start must have been in a group or listed race.
Rule 13: Handicapped weight 56.5kg to 63.5kg.
