View Full Version : Refined harness racing

Well the other harness thread is turning into a little bit of a mess, so best to clear it up.

Now after some greatly appreciated suggestions and tips, i have been able to refine the system. Only pre-race odds between $3-$5 will be accepted as a selection.

If there is a horse lower than $3 which comes up as a selection then the race is excluded even if there is a selection between $3-$5

Rules: Must hvae won last start
Must have placed/won second last start
Between $3-$5 pre-race odds.

Here are results since 16/9/05 and im only backing them to win.

Some constructive comments:

1. Beware of refining the system too soon. i.e. too little data. What looks better now may not be the real picture after a few hundred bets.

2. Be cautious when your filter is price retrospectively with the trots. The pools are small and volatile, therefore what might have been $12.00 with a minute to go might be $5.00 at the jump, and you'll miss out.
Vice versa, what might be $3.10 might tumble into $2.20 or blow out to $6.00 and therfore you're betting on something you didn't intend on.

Very hard to assess the final stable price on trots, from the guy who tried it ;)

Im just talking about the odds that are given in the paper in the morning. IF the odds shorten or blow out it doesn't affect the selection, as if they are between $3-$5 in the morning paper then thats that.

Well it has been refined after 162 races which was a fair whack. Im still of course keeping tab on those selections under/over the $3-$5 mark just to see what eventuates.

Thanks for the comments though. Much appreciated.

Today's tips:

Geelong:
Race 5) #2
Race 6) #12
Race 8) #7

Albion Park:
Race 3) #2
Race 4) #3
Race 6) #1
Race 7) #1
Race 8) #6

Newcastle:
Race 5) #10
Race 6) #7
Race 7) #10
Race 9) #2

Globe Derby:
Race 2) #7
Race 4) #10
Race 6) #8

A whoping 15 selections.

Best Bets:

Geelong Race 6) #12
Albion park Race 3) #2
Albion park Race 7) #1
Globe Derby Race 2) #7

Fair enough, the newspaper prices will suffice, I thought you were refining from TAB prices.

Good idea, still keep records and see how it fares.

Good luck.

Oaksnaf, yes frusting it can be, but take heart in that you're usually thereabouts.
I find it really strange that there are no forums really dedicated to harness betting. There are forums that just post harness news, but no real discussion and no tips.

Anyhow, interesting to note that my two specials were in your tips:

1/10/2005 Albion Park6 Wholet Thegirlsout 1st $1.80 $1.60
1/10/2005 Albion Park7 Cecil Roy 2nd $1.60

Seems some sytems select the same horses for different reasons.

Happy Half-Carting ;)

Hey Chrome ive been recording each race results from the paper odds in the morning, and what the winner of the race was at on the form odds.

its early days, but ive done 55 races so far: Ill want to get to 200-500 before i get a valuable result.

FAV 2nd 3rd 4th 5th Over 5th Total
Winners 28 10 6 7 4 55

FAV
$52.24
2nd
$41.60
3rd
$34.40
4th
$76.40
5th
$48.60

Based on $1 investment.

So it seems, no matter what the field size a large % of winners come from the top 5 pre-race odds (paper form odds).

And the largest pre-race odd winner was at $11 so far. But plenty of races to go, and im sure that will change.

2/2 today at $2.20 and $3.00 for the win.

And yes it is in profit overall. I dont have overall results at the moment, still having troubles with transfering files.

But yes the system is in profit. I know its easy to just say this, but if you look at the results from the start of the thread, its there to see that it is in profit.

From 6 selections, it gave me 2 winners priced $30.40 and $17.20

Now ive been having a little bit on the side with this system of late. Its pretty simple. The harness must be the only one in the race resuming from a spell.

This with the current system provides about 3-5 selections per meeting.

There is still one more first up to go, in Race 8) #7 alongside the system top #8. SO will be interesting to see how they perform.

But since the 1st of October, the first up system has also been winning. So thumbs up so far.

And well the first up horse in the last... #7 won $20.60 and $3.90 for the place

Thats a$30.40 / $17.20 / $20.60 winners for the harness tonight. My best ever day on the harness thats for sure.

crash,

I make a very good profit out of harness racing.

Harness racing is actually very easy to make money from. Much easier than greyhounds and horse racing.

and no I don't intend to share how its done. But its very simple and anyone who spends a couple of days checking results would easily be able to work it out.

Also there was a forum (and its been posted on here) around that put up prepost selections and he did very well making a profi most years. So just becasue you can't do it don't say it can't be done when there are probably quite a few people making a nice income off it.

Good Luck.
