someone said to me that paratroopers will be scratched i fsomeone spills a bottle of mt franklin on the track....lol.....
i am leaning to God's Own over Paratroopers (if dry) personally.....but i wouldn't be suprised if Testafiable runs a great race. Perfectly Ready, Red Dazzler, Gonski, Apache Cat, Stratum and Danger Looms are all massive chances
What an open race!

G'day All
My thoughts for the Guineas are:
1 Stratum - Was 2nd to Red Dazzler last start @ MV, so some more galloping room @ Caulfield will help. Seems to be looking for the mile and I think a nice barrier and Callow will run very well and at 11's pre-post looks a very good E/W proposition
2 Paratroopers - First try the otheray around..... so has to contend with Caulfield and going "anti" - which a big ask - but this guy is really flying and with Beadman on board, I expect to be in the first 3. Think he's a bit short, so gunna take him on.
3 Danger Looms - Was easily beaten by Red Dazzler and really has not fired at all this time in, was set for this, is fitter, so I expect improvment. Drawn a little wide.
4 Perfectly Ready - stepping up to the 1600 for the first time, well held by Red Dazzler last time - Don't think he can win it
5 Red Dazzler - Is racing really well and still learning, over the 1600m at the tight MV circuit he won by 1.25 ln and with the Caulfield track which should suit - given he has won there before - looks really good value at $5.50 pre-post
6 Apache Cat - The forgotten horse.. has been kept fresh after last start Caulf win over the 1400m, has won over 1600m before at Flemington, I reckon he's up to his eye balls in this - @ 12's and with N Ryan on board he is very attractive
7 God's Own - Just beaten at only Caulf start by Apache Cat, who I think has an excellent chance, is drawn wide but has won from a wide gate and has Group One Glen on board.
8 Gonski Backed him last start and and won by 2.5 ln, the extra distance will suit has barr 3 and Nash on board first look at Caulfield bu handeled the "anti" racing well at Vic debut.
9 Testafiable Making up the numbers. 2ln to Paratroopers last start, but 2nd (Primus) was 1.5ln, getting fitter but will struggle (you watch him win now - LOL!)
10 Primus Antoher debuting in Vic, will he run a solid 1600m? I think he will struggle, but has been racing really consistently
11 Paternity - Don't think he can mix it with this field, not going well enough at the moment - easier races for him (he is 151's)
12 Silent Echo - Well held last start and another looking elsewhere...
Well .....after I have built a case for 3/4's of the filed - My Ratings are:
5 Red Dazzler
6 Apache Cat
1 Startum / 7 God's Own / 8 Gonski / 2 Paratroopers
3 Danger Looms / 4 Perfectly Ready
10 Primus / 9 Testafiable
12 Silent Echo
11 Paternity
Tips :
5 Red Dazzler 6 Apache Cat 1 Startum - 1,7,8,2
Good Luck
(Now that's what I call leaving myself wide open !!! - go easy on me pls......)

I knew paratroopers was special last prep and backed him from his first race start. He is a cat on the wet, he raced on a dead track (may have been slow) and he failed dismally before being put away.
I am pretty much with you stix. Stratum and apache cat look the overs to me. Dazzler and gods own both good chances. I think i will take the price on the cat now before everyone starts saying he is the forgotton horse and i the space of the day he will become the 'boom' horsel, these things always seem to happen in racing. I would not be surprised to see Testafiable and silent echo to improve quite a bit.

Testafiable at $26
Last start 3 rd, sectionals identical to paratroopers, paratroopers had 2 lengths on the turn and thats how it finished:
Paratroopers: 600m: 33.80, 400m: 22.23
Testafiable: 600m: 33.88, 400m: 22.22
I dont know, mayby the figures are decieving, but given the extra 200m, bigger field and possible soft track + he will strip a lot fitter, he looks the one to me.
I really cant understand the fixed market at the moment, $26 seems ridiculously juicy!

What do you think a pace map of the race is going to look like (not really my forte)? Gonski from 3 pings out and paratroopers moves in from 5 to sit outside the leader (they might cut away at each other), dazzler and stratum just off the speed or something like that?

Hi Stix :D I’ve been a big fan of STICKS 'N' STONES from the start, honest as they come. Love the look of my alias with an "X” there and a “Z” here - looks pretty modern eh. Not sure if we’re cuz’s but love you’re posts. Mate of mine (just call him Justin H) been posting on this forum for a while under a couple of aliases, always talks about the forum and the fun he has, so although I’m just a novice punter thought I might join in the fun as well.

New to the forum.
Like Stix I viewed the TVN replays and keep coming back to Red Dazzler and Apache Cat.
They had 22 ml of rain in Adelaide in past 24 hours - so hopefully we might get at least 5ml here overnight.
Caulfield surface has been really problematic when it rains. They haven't watered the track so its rather firm now.
But even a soft Good rating would really suit these two who have both won there.
Mick Price rates Red Dazzler the best horse he has trained and Apache Cat is a fast miler.
I took the $6.50 on offer on Sportsbet this morning and the $14 for Apache. I backed Apache at $12 in the prelude and it duely won when not fully wound up and raced 3 wide entire journey - so "how good it he?"
Go the cat!
Cheers maties.

usually funny results in this race...initially i thought Testifiable might be a worth an e/w...but the Dazzler looks to strong..the way he darted through the gap last start was awesome,, he went past Stratum like he was standing still..
go wide with the tri's ,, and good luck :)

Apache Cat for mine that was a terrific effort last start could get in nicely here just off the speed I just hope they don't scratch Paratroopers will keep his price up if he is in the race. I don't really like much else to be honest but I thought Silent Echos run was alright last start and like has been said there have been some very wierd results over the years in this result.
