As you have seen fit to close a thread.. yet another victory for freedom of speech I might add... you might like to look at the title of the thread you chose to close.. Now if that is not a troll I don't know what is... As for insinuating myself or jfc are to blame for the closure of the thread (you do that by agreeing with the last poster then closing the thread) YOU have totally ignored the troll nature of the the thread and the poster in general.. I am quite sure that you could not agree that stats and ratings are dead end, given that YOU sell products based on those 2 things. yet you choose to shield a person from criticism for stating exactly that...
All I can say is I am very Glad that thread is closed... As GWB once infamoulsy trumpetted... mission accomplished.

XPT, I don't think the thread was closed becaause of the topic, more for the negativity of jfc. His only posts seem to be to knock other peoples ideas rather than put up any ideas of his own. Sponsors of this website pay because they think that may get business from visitors to the site, if all they see is negativity to ideas then the visitors will go elsewhere, ( along with a few forum members) to other punting forums where this a bit more positive stuff and people dont get into slanging matches about who is right and who is wrong. The bottom line is if you are making a quid from whatever method you are using then then it is right for you. If you don't like other peoples ideas then say so and leave it at that rather than find little things to have a go at people for. I am not directing this comment at you as I appreciate the contributions you make to the forum by putting your ratings up for evrybody to use or not. XPT, you once wrote on a post that someone emailed abuse at you for not rating the price of a favourite short enough for them to place a bet on, and that the horse consequently won. It is this sort of pettyness that jfc is into and I am surprised that you have included him with your shot at management for this. I certainly think that the automatic editing has gone too far, but apart from that the moderators of this forum have a job to do in protecting the thier investment and for the most part I thinkthey do a reasonable job of it.

Gday Dr Ron
I take your point... tho I am in no way criticising jfc... I am agreeing with the point about not liking an idea and leaving it at that..
You and I obviously read the tone of some posting totally different to each other. And that is fine...I took the title of that thread to be a deliberate premeditated attack on ratings.. AS you know I swear by them.. I think I did well to stay out as long as I did :)
I read the person who penned the original thread post, much the same way as you seem to read jfc... I guess we will just have to agree to disagree..
I am in NO WAY being critical of jfc in this post... I think that all he was doing, and managed quite successfully to do IMHO, was prove that the Emperor, in this case, indeed had no clothes.. and he proved it by using facts and figures.. something that has been sadly lacking from the other side of the discussion.

XPT, I know that ratings are your thing and you produce some very good ones ( often aginst the public thoughts and successful) I dont think that P 57 was premeditated in his attack, rather than annoyed at people putting down his ideas that seem to work for him. And yes, you did do well to keep out as long as you did. Dont think that I am having a go at ratings as such as I have used them myself, ( sometimes with success sometimes without) I am just putting forward the point that people have different methods that work for them and should be allowed to put them forward without having the stats men shoot them down. Stats can certianly be useful however I'll go with gut instinct evey time. I just believe in the old saying, if you dont have something nice to say dont say it at all.

Seconds out!.ROUND 3!
I pick Xptdriver as a person who sweats his guts out and gives his hard work out for free.
You gotta love anybody who does that.
And JFC is one of the smartest, yet dumbest on this forum.
His mathematical skills are excellent but his humanitarianism skills do need a little work.
And Dr. Ron is somewhere in between.
And I'm still undergoing counselling for my problems.

moeee, I certainly do admire XPT for his contributions, and agree that mathematically speaking JFC is up there, however his personal skills leave a bit to be desired. As for me, I am happy to be ranked somewhere in between, I am not the smartest person in the world, but I am far from the dumbest. But then again, if I was smart enough, I would be in the Bahamas right now, and not having to worry about other peoples thoughts.
