This looks an interesting race not sure what rain they have had but I can only guess it will be a heavy track and if that is the case after the run of Top Marc last start at the Coast behind Amex he will start a deserved favourite. I think the best roughie in the race might be Malta currently $51 has some solid wet track form and will be benefitied by a very good 1st up run last start and a massive drop in weight coming into this, Not to mention he has won 2 out of 4 2nd up so at the odds he just looks a good e/w bet.

1. Top Marc
2. Malta
3. Amex
4. Little Punc
5. Omnitrader
6. Serenote

This will be the triffecta I go with on a slow or worse track the top 3 will be on the 1st line and the the others will join them on the 2nd line for a half which will set me back $30

Omnitrader ran yesterday, Raw.

I agree with you on Top Marc. One of the very best wet trackers in Australia, and if it is slow or heavy, I think it's definitely the one to beat. Amex and Little Punc also great chances. Maybe Diamonsondinside as well. Don't know about Cool Front on a wet track. Perhaps Ally Bee and Clanger as roughies that might sneak a place.

Can't think of any better reasons to Jump off :) But Top Marc certainly has gills.

Looking for something to beat it... I like Cool Front.. I am a sucker for O'Shea trained runners at Provincial tracks.. according to my form guide, it hasn't been on worse than dead, so that is not neccessarily a negative... But the spruik horse is the one to watch... terrific wet form....

Others with a chance IMHO Prosecution, Clanger and Showbiz Kid... Good luck with it...

anyone know what the entry cost is to the races up the coast??

XPT I would have had both Show Biz Kid and Cool Front in there but personally I just do not think eoither of them will handle the going there aren't many Hurricane Skys who like it and as far as Show Biz Kid goes the 0 for 8 on a dead track is a worry not sure what the record sits like after that but I can't see him figuring unless the track dries right out.

I am a huge fan of Show Biz Kid to I would just like to add that.

Sportz as far as the races went yesterday you'll have to excuse me I have had a bad chest infection since Thursday night my whole body has been killing not to mention the coughing everytime I try and sleep if only I could master the art of sleeping standing up although at the rate I am going at I will pass out not go to sleep.

Gday Raw

I agree with your sentiments... it's the way i do my ratings, I just don't really take the track into account and they can sometimes come undone on wet days, tho yesterday in Bris I had a pretty good day with 5 on top winners....tho the SS Coast is more often rain affected than not... or is that just my imagination?

So Showbiz is coming off a nice Win at Toowoomba carting 61, gets 5 or 6 kgs relief today.. class should not be a worry with him... I just think he is a chance... The fish is the standout, but I am looking around him. Amex is a horse I can't catch... If I rate him well he goes under, if he starts at double figures he wins... he is a hard one

with Cool Front, I am an unabashed O'Shea fan... this horse is not in this race for nothing... is untried worse than dead, that doesn't worry me, it's form isn't disgusting, beaten 1.8 last start by Plans at the Coast, had a good win on Christmas eve in A WFarm welter... The track is the worry, but I am prepared to take a risk on that.... the form at the distance is ok 1/1/1...

Tho the swimmer will probably win :)

xpt,

It seems that ever since they changed the name from "Caloundra" to the "Sunshine Coast", there's hardly been any. (sunshine that is)

It does seem to rain an awful lot there compared to anyone else in Queensland. You could be right about both Cool Front and Show Biz Kid and to a degree I wouldn't mind seeing Show Biz Kid win he deserves to win some nice races. I like O'shea as a trainer aswell but has he gone a little off the boil I am only going off the top of my head not looking at any figures just hasn't seemed to be getting the winners he was a couple of years ago, Ofcourse that can happen when you lose a horse the quality of Private Steer to.

I was at Goldmarket day when Top Marc had the great run and when I was visiting the stables, I heard his strapper saying to some old ducks that he expected the horse to run well despite the poor barrier and he also said that when the horse is calm in the stalls, he is likely to run well but if he is stirred up, he wil run poorly. Now he was calm on Goldmarket day and unfortunately I didn't take the advice and backed Nessuno which ran 4th, although I believe could have placed if Brad Pengelly hadn't have gone so early on the horse.

Well done. I think you're the only one who mentioned it. The favourites were nowhere. I'm not really surprised though, seeing as it's the Sunshine Coast. I find that place a real punting graveyard and very rarely bet there. I only bet today because it was a wet track and I thought that made Top Marc close to a good thing. How wrong can you be? :o

Very poor ride by El-Lissa on Top Marc he isn't the sort of horse you want to fire up out of the gates just let him come out and settle at his own pace. Very ordinary ride IMO

BTW well done XPT looks asthough your the only one who tipped Show Biz Kid hope you won a packet on him I love the horse I just couldn't back him today will just back him from now on however he will never be at those odds again.

Hmmm, he's not really one of my favourite jockeys. I think I was so taken with his last start and the wet track record, I didn't take enough notice of who was riding it or I wouldn't have been quite so keen! :o

Meanwhile, Allan Robinson and Greg Ryan ARE two of my favourite jockeys and they've both given me two from two today!!! :D

well done X and whoever tipped Show Biz ...i was on him last start at toowoombad and jumped off today with the wet ...

as for Elissa i think he suits certain types of horses ..he's very strong and suited to the horse that needs that extra niggle,,,he's not that great at geting horses to relax....(probably what happpened today)

no joy for me today ...
postcard bandit nearly got there ...hes been good to me that horse,,

(great run by Serenote)

In case anyone wants to know I am going to have one more bet in Honkers I am going with Greenessy can't guarentee anything but has some solid form putting what I won on Clean Sweep over to him I'll be happy either way but if it gets up I will be ecstatic.

down 5.5 kgs. last start winner. glad i didnt hear them say he was a duffer in the wet.

i recall saying in the past that knowing too much is worse than knowing too little as it causes a bias in our minds.
on the face of it show biz kid with $452k in prizemoney has been a maginificent horse.
i like the previous posters who say that what the heck i am going to back him from now on.
what the heck we are wrong most of the time anyway.
but. a fine horse and a well deserved win.

I have just heard something interesting from the old man who must have listened to the post race interview and he said that since the last run that Show Biz Kid had on a rain effected track he has been gelded, I turned around and asked him what difference does it make he said to me well think about it if you have crap spraying up between your legs sticking in not the most comfortable of places then you would probably find it isn't all that comfortable racing in the wet.

Interesting thought anyway probably doesn't stand true for alot of horses but maybe it is a case here.
