Just goes to show that bookmakers ain't racially biased against Aboriginals or Muslims.
The difference between Muhammad Ali and his stronger opponents was his skill.
Brain beats brawn any time.
Not saying Mundine is clever, but very cunning.
What tricks has Green got planned. He is so easy to read.
Hope the white supremists don't ruin the country to racial riots again.

Well, I must say I'm very surprised by the odds.

I'm certainly no boxing expert, and I must admit that I'd been influenced by ALL of those many comments about Mundine, saying how he was fighting total no-hopers and how he's been avoiding Green for years.

I just assumed that Green would be an overwhelming favourite when they finally fought.

Id be more worried about the blacks going crazy in redfurn when he loses

Gonna be a good fight me thinks. Mundines speed vs Greens power. Be interesting to see if Mundine can handle getting hit. Don't recall him ever taking a pounding, he's too quick. If Green can hit him i think he wins.

Thoughts?

if Green hits him just ONCE it will be lights out for Anthony.
remember that "reputed" non hitter (whose name escapes me at the moment) who put Anthony to sleep, totally.
got to ask yourself who has gone thru the harder opponents over the last 12 months?
Green easily for mine and at $2.15 looks like money in the bank.
off to IAS!

All those people who don't like Mundine?

Mundine may or may not be Australias greatest athlete at this ponit in time.
I know a bit about boxing,I know bugger all about rugby or whatever it was that Mundine did.But I have heard he was quite skilful at that!
Do we bag Thorpedo?.NO!
Anthony Mundine is on our side, fellow Australians.
Can you not see?

oFF TO IAS!

And how many times did he smack his previuos opponent?
And went the whole 12 rounds.
How many rounds did Mundines opponent last that same night?

Only reason you going to IAS is to top up your account!

I think it will be 50/50 , leaning so very slightly towards Green and at $2.15 i might have a little bet, if it was a match of the motor mouths or ego's Mundine would be a special @ $1.01 :D

Moeee , Mundine is one of the best athelete's going around the moment as he was when he played rugby league, but in the 99 Grand Final, his EGO when showing off , cost his team a premiership, then guess what happened ?
he spat the dummy out, threw the towel in, QUIT , took up boxing ,same thing happened again when he lost , he was going back to league , STILL WAITING ANTHONY !, maybe if it happens again he might take up atheltics or basketball or rowing or polevault or............, he still would be the greatest, definately a legend in his own lunchtime.

Haha...very funny,i've put my money where my mouth is ,have you?
i've been following boxing since i can remember and Tony Mundine had the best glass jaw of any Aust' boxer in my time and i've seen enough to suggest that he's son is made of the same ilk.
i am willing to stand corrected if this is not the case.

I don't bet on boxing.
I like to bet small to win big, like in quadrellas.
And Trifectas.

Anthony Mundine is very quick and very strong.

To be honest, this fight has come 2-3 years tooo late, as both are past their best and i WAS only going to watch it to finally see an end to all the trash talking, but there is already talk of a rematch .. P.L.E.A.SE !

I watched the special on Main Event last night where they had all of Green and Mundines fights.

Mundine has definately improved. He is much quicker then he was when he first started. You could see definite improvement.

Green was showing improvement up until his title fight which he lost due to headbutt. Since then he hasn't been quite the same fighter.

Saying all this I watched the last 2 fights each of them had over in Perth and if you watch the fighters that Mundine have fought, most of them don't have much defence so his speed is useful. As soon as his opponent held his hands up and protected his face Mundines speed was nullified. Also mundine may be quick but when he gets hits once he seems to cram up for a few seconds but none of the previous fighters went on with it. They threw 2 punches and stopped.

Green on the other hand was fairly predicatable but fought well. He covered up, kept his hands up in defence for all 10 rounds and seemed focused on not knocking the other guy out and just using it as a training run. Green looked a lot slower than mundine but he also seemed to control the fight better.

Mundine went out there to knock his opponent out, Green went out for a training run. If you were constructing the odds based on these 2 last fights you would have mundine miles in front.

My personal thoughts on the fight is that if Green keeps his hands up and he puts together a few combinations he should beat Mundine. He should be able to handle the speed and hopefully lands a few punches early. Mundine will probably want to showboat and prance around a bit so I don't see this fight ending early.

My money will be on Green to win. (Mainly cause I don't like the other guy).

Not much in it, leaning towards a Mundine win by decision.

They're not black.

Who aren't?.....And what colour are they then?

And Mundine on points at $3.20
How I know?
He told me to back him and let him handle the rest.
And he not capable of knocking Green out.

If it comes down to points Mundine.

I can see the show he will put on if he lost on points he would claim corruption and the mouth Mundine would start.

Just noticed that Tab Sportsbet has both fighters at $1.90 head to head. Any explanation?

classiconi
17th May 2006, 09:42 AM
Reason being there has been a late plunge on Green, last 48 hours there have been 5 dollars placed on Green for every 1 dollar on Mundine.

mecurial
17th May 2006, 12:05 PM
The point I am trying to make IS...week in week out TAB Sportsbet has equal favourites at $1.85 and $1.85. Why have they increased this, and is it a one-off, or a new regular thing?

classiconi
17th May 2006, 12:15 PM
perhaps it has something to do with the volume of money being placed on the bout?

goldmember
17th May 2006, 12:29 PM
I was wondering the same thing this morning about the $1.90 each of 2 as everything else before has been $1.85, i dont know, maybe its a one off because of THIS fight, OR could it be they might be cathing up with every other sports betting organization, i'm going to email them and find out,if its permanent I WOULD bet with them rather than centrebet and sports acumen, a good boxing site i browse through is www.secondsout.com, good reading in there.

just rang aussie stadium and the recorded message said the fight was to start at 10:05pm,anyone verify this or heard different,is this so everyone in perth can watch it after dinner, danny green is apparently from there isn't he?

classiconi
17th May 2006, 02:45 PM
10:05 PM is definitely the scheduled fight commencement time. But as always, boxing bouts don't always start as scheduled. I believe it will start sometime between 10 and 10:30.... anyhow Im heading down to Aussie after work to take my ringside seats

Darky,

I guess you can be forgiven for not knowing as the guy who won actually kept himself composed and didn't go shooting his mouth off for once. I was more amazed at this than the fact that he actually won.:)

Good Luck.

Shaun

All i can say is the fight came a few years to late for Green, If Mundine hadn't ducked him for so long it would have been a real good fight....but hey thats sport for you.
