3 System Overview
Posted 6-29-2001 09:53
hi,
great site !, i've found many of the topics to be very good reading, keep it up. since this is my first post here, i hope you don't mind me commenting on topics which were posted some time ago, it's just
that i've only recently read them. i thought if i combine in one post, responses to two or three others, then the information would be more readily available to those initial posters, as the topics are
closely related. thanks.
the following are overviews of systems / services , ( whichever you like to call them ).
draytec - the service is win based. you can either use their software, ( in conjunction with a results database, which you have to pay extra for ), or call racedays to receive the daily tips. many of the
bets are in sydney. their most recent strike rate is very poor. favourites are generally tipped, although longshots also appear. over the last few months, nothing over 6/1 or 7/1 has saluted. start up fee,
$3,700.00, after your profit reaches $10,000.00, you owe them another $3,700.00. as was mentioned when the draytec service was being discussed, the tote, ( especially in melbourne ), really does take
a hammering. here's an example: selection was 16/1 pre post, opening tote figures were as follows, syd - $11.30, qld - $5.80, s-tab - $2.80 !!!!!, in fact, if you want to know what their selections are on
any given saturday, and you have access to all the tote figures, just look for a situation as i've pointed out, i'm sure you'll find them within minutes.
possible outlays - i'm only familiar with their win option, i think they have other offers as well. you are given 4 horses per race, 6 races are rated. two from melb, syd and qld. your bets are determined
by the prices of each of the runners, starting from the top selection. if this runner does not fit the criteria given, then your bet becomes the second selection and so on. after you strike one winner for the
day, betting ceases for that day, and all other selections become null and void. can become messy trying to isolate the actual bet because of bookmaking fluctuations, and yes, you really do need to be
oncourse for this one. the results which are attached to this offer are very misleading. what you receive are results of bank.a, and only bank.a. what needs to be taken into account is that you should
also be betting with another bank, bank.b. this of course is not mentioned when you initially sign up for the service.
equine gladiators - there are many different options available with this service. again, i'm only familiar with their win option. number of bets range mainly from 1-3 per saturday, a phone service is used
to access these bets. generally second and third favourites are tipped, with melbourne and adelaide venues preferred. when they hit a losing streak, many short priced favourites are given, they're not
scared to offer up odds-on either. recent winners include yammer, native jazz, casino heights and chattanooga. they generally seem to have a reasonable strike rate, around 30%, but with average
returns of 5/2, you're hard pressed to make great strides with your profits.
i hope this information is useful to those who raised questions earlier about these systems. also, i hope that i have been fair in my assessment of these services, if errors have been found, please let me
know, because i'd like to keep updated with all that's available out there. thanks again.
quick note - does anyone use a self constructed system developed from don scott's books, namely winning, the winning way or winning more. interested in any responses, cheers.
good punting.
copy & paste, my only vice, sorry.

Self constructed system
Posted 7-2-2001 08:34
Reginald,
A couple of guys I worked with a few years ago had the following system.
Place bet only on a runner that has not placed its last three starts but is in the top half of the betting.
A few of the rules were like most systems a) not on 2yr old races b) stick to Sat metropolitan meetings (they only bet on Brisbane meetings) c) tracks dead or better d) if there is more than one runner
that qualifies pick the shorter one.
Basically betting on runners dropping in grade or with good first up records or that have had a run of bad luck in races. There is usually a couple of runners that qualify per meeting.
They claimed to have used it for over eighteen months and were in front (no figures). They weren't big punters but were disciplined (boring) and used it like a bit of a xmas club - too slow and steady
for my patience. Also I believe if a runner can place then it can win so at least a small % of stake should be for a win.
I used it a bit for fun but never kept a record of how it performed - it certainly won't make you a fortune but it may suit someone out there.
Actually I might start going through the rag on friday and post the runners on the Tipping forum and keep a record for a few months and see if there is any merit (profit).
Regards
Lex
PS I'm sure there is some ligitimate flaws with this system and look forward to a sharp response from Mr Logic and friends. (Terry - relax. just a bit of fun to take the mind of life's stressors - like
pop-up adds.)

Kincourt
Posted 7-5-2001 05:39
I remember Kincourt resuming last preparation over 1200m in Sydney screamed home beaten a 1/2 head paying $7 a place. Most people assumed it was just building fitness for longer races -
"whatever he does today he'll improve on". If I had a dollar for everytime I heard that and the horse has run in the placings. Tie the Knot is another memorable example. One you might have missed is
Double Time (miler/mid distance). It resumed in Brisbane last preparation in a big field ran third at 100/1.
Three I can remember off the top of my head.
There is merit in what you say - is there enough of these type of runners week in week out to satisfy a punting habit.

Asset Swop

Terry - will you be backing Asset Swop in Sydney going by your system. (Its Bris form prior to spell wasn't great but there does look to be a deal of speed in the race which should suit).
