Welcome to the World Cup tipping comp. Make sure you read the rules carefully please.

RULES

Everyone to have their tips in for the whole round before the first match in that round.
I've divided the 64 matches into 8 separate "rounds". The first 3 rounds contain the 48 preliminary games, then the next 5 rounds contain the remaining 16 games of the competition. You have to post your tips for ALL matches in the round before the first game in that round begins.

Tipping - Rounds 1-3
For the first 3 rounds, you can pick either team to win or a draw. You must also pick what you think the exact score will be.

Match 2 - Draw (1-1)

Tipping - Rounds 4-8
From Round 4 onwards, the games are knockout and there has to be a winner. DO NOT PICK A DRAW. You have to pick the team you think will be the eventual winner of the game (even if you think it will be a draw at 90 minutes). You also have to pick what you think the score will be at 90 minutes. In the final, you will also have to pick the first goal scorer.

Thought Germany were impressive last night, unlucky with a lot of their chances but impressive nontheless. Similarly thought Brazil not-so, however the next couple of games will tell us a bit more. Sorry mate, a draw is a reasonably common result in Soccer, so no, you don't get any bonus points for picking one. The bonus is that you get more points than almost all of the other tipsters who didn't pick draws on those games.

I could understand them trying to put off the Argentinian guys taking penalties, but during the whole 120 minutes of the game, whenever Argentina had possession of the ball for more than a second or two, the jeering and whistling would start and continue until Germany got the ball. I thought it was pretty disgraceful actually.

Yeah, interesting thing. Would you actually call Italy the best team at the World Cup? On radio this morning, Colin Turner said no. He called them the "lucky" team. He said that things just fell into place for them. Personally, I think they WERE a very good, very professional team (especially in defence), who just happened to get a bit lucky as well. Ironic to see the guy who took the dive against us, score the winning penalty this morning too.

We were about 30 seconds away from extra time and a great chance of beating a tiring Italy, and if we had done so, I'm sure we could have beaten Ukraine and made the semi final against Germany. How big would that have been!!! But even so, it was still a good effort from Australia to reach the round of 16. Unfortunately, I think they still just lack that kller instinct and the knack of scoring goals which is after all what it's all about.
