Is it just me or has anyone noticed how many horses carrying the No 12 win or place at huge odds?

E.g On Saturday:

Randwick - 3 Runners - 0 Placings
Sandown - 3 Runners - 1 Winner @ $6.50 $2.20
Eagle Farm - 4 Runners - 0 Placings
Morphettville - 4 Runners - 1 3rd Place paying $35.90!!!! only beaten a lip.
Gold Coast - 4 Runners - 1 Winner @ $19.30 $4.40
Newcastle - 4 Runners - 1 Winner @ $20.60 $4.70
Belmont - 3 Runners - 2 2nds Placed @ $9.70 and $8.50
Toowoomba - 1 Runner - 0 Placings
Swan Hill - 1 Runner - 0 Placings

Thats 27 Selections for 3 Winners and another 3 Placed.

Outlay @$1 Each Way $54
Return $111.80
POT - 107%

I know this is just for one day but there always No 12's popping up everyday at huge odds , i know one punter at my local TAB who only ever backs 12's and is in front by a long way.

Maybe we could come up with a way of getting rid of the losers but keeping the winners and placegetters to make a even bigger POT.

I think it's just you!

Seriously though I ran a query on my database for all race meetings for this year and the results are not good:

4389 No 12's have run this year
200 of them won (4.5% SR)
734 of them placed (16.7%)
Total Win Divs ($1 per runner) = 2749.80
Total Place Divs ($1 per runner) = 3247.20
(Divs based on Tabcorp divs)

You would definitely need more filters on that one!

Hi, I'd like to know what database are you using. Is it publicly accessible. Thanks. Keep Winnin'..

i have battled with just about everything to back winners and do back some great odds
(at times)but i run a database and match the fields from cyberhorse to see what database horses are running but imposed my view on the selections and got so confused i could back winners but still often lost.
so kept analysing and a few weeks ago when interbank and hello pamela won i finally got a clue.
on saturday i tried the process and backed 10 winners including star hit ($43) prince of pop $25 plain crazy $12 sophistocat $11
old man $6 danish storm bold mirage
i narrowly missed our isoceles in perth at $71 and impregnable at $26 and several other seconds. i may have been struck by lightning on saturday but all these horses had a common factor some days they are out there. i wonder if i it can happen again. on past research it should. my own database has been compiled by me since 1993 and is updated each monday. the search/data matching is done by a perl file written by my son. some days its great fun.

Wannawin,
It is my own database that I have compiled. Most of the information is downloaded automatically from the web (the 3 TAB sites + a couple of others) each day by a program I wrote but I also enter manual comments, etc. For the technically minded the database is in Access 97 (but is getting to big at nearly 400MB so will soon be moved to SQL server) and the data retrieval is done with a Visual Basic program that downloads the web pages then extracts the data and stores it in the database.

Topsy99 - don't know about being struck by lightning but it sounds like you found the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow! Maybe you caught one of Paddy's leprechauns! Best of luck for next week.

Thanks for that becareful. It sounds pretty complicated.

As for topsy99, wow. Excellent pickings in winnings. Maybe you'll post some of your tips. Good luck.
