I'm speechless. Might as well be really, anything you say has a 50/50 chance of dissappearing anyway. I just thought how well we had conducted ourselves. Basic exchange of information, nothing really derogatory about any site, not really an opposition site that I'm aware of. Actually a thread with possible useful information exchanged by real people as opposed to made up duplicate personalities.
Reminds me of a letters to the editor column I used to write. I mean I used to write it. Real letters were too boring so I just made up some entertaining stuff. I guess that's what will be going on here soon because no real people will be wasting their time.

Sorry to say KV, but you may be right, more the pity, because this site used to be one of the most informative and useful forums. Now, if you are not interested in tipping competitions, (which I was early on, until an overbearing individual put me in my place , saying "I was just lucky"), there is hardly anything left.
I have seen quite a few good people leave.
Still, management must know what's best for them I suppose.
Incidentally, why do you want the margins etc. in the results? It's in the form files already, if you have them!
Email me if you like, I may be able to help you.
Good luck KV

I'll do that if I can find your email address. It's the only way people can exchange anything but sugar coated or meaningless information.
I can get results from another site which would attract asterisks if I wrote it but they are up to a week old by the time they are posted sometimes. I'm just looking for an economical way to get results with margins expeditiously (just used that word to see if it was close enough to get starred :)

You have to understand WHY it was deleted.
Going on previous reasons, you can pretty much ascertain that posting a commercial website address here, while not in direct competition with this site, gives it free advertising. The propun search engine optimization is such, that posting a web address or even using the word of the site gives that site free advertising.
This site is funded by subscriptions and advertising.
Advertisers will not pay, if others get free advertising by way of search engine optimization and forum discussions.
The bottom line is, you can't mention commercial websites unless they are paid advertisers here.

In addition there were in our opinion potentially defamatory comments made about a clearly identified product /after sales service which would be picked up by Search engines for anyone doing a search for that product.
Our search engine optimisation is one of the best around. It has not come cheap. For example, for a Google web search for betting tips - we currently rank number two of 8.6 million.
We have businesses paying us for links so their link is picked up by search engines. Why will businesses pay us if links which will be picked up by search engines can be posted for free all over the forum?

Get a life Chrome. Your stating the obvious and maybe getting a brown tongue in doing so. Management is handling this just fine [all by themselves].
Of course criticizing you is a sure way to a holiday as you work for the man. Still, it had to be said and if a holiday follows, so be it. 'Cookies' don't stop me accessing the site.

So Mr Mod...
if I was to write that .......was an absolutely terrific site for info.. that would be OK
waiting for the usual lame reason why it wont be tho....
Moderation on this site is poorly named.. It is not moderation at all but totally over the top censorship.. and at times too silly for words... In the end the only loser will be the site itself as people with a clue go elsewhere.. but hey the site wil still be ranked 2 out of 8 million... problem is no one will care..

Thank you for your responses CP and M3. Disappointing and frustrating but at least crystal clear.

Nothing really shoto, that's the shame of it. I did thank you for your response though, very helpful. And I did ask if you took the race and horse search (should be OK to ask that now the site name has gone). If so how far back could you check form for?
Cheers,

I had replied, KV, saying I didn't use the search service so can't comment.
I did make the point that it's ridiculous the TABs don't provide the actual result of the race - ie finishing order of the field and margins. This basic info is available just about everywhere else in the world.

I'll do that if I can find your email address.

KV!
I am sure I have given it out, either in a moment of insanity or in a drunken stupor.
Either way, if you can't find it, so much the better for me.
I am trying to contact a fellow forumite who has your email address and I will contact you.
Cheers!

Another local site that is ranked only 8 out of 8 million but are not scared of other sites being posted as long as in their own words it benefits the punter.
Won't be suprised if soon they are 1 out of 8 million.

A hole-in one-there Kenny I think. The entertaining and informative Duritz has either been recently put out to pasture or left to join a long line of past forumites that have also left from boredom, or been barred. I've fairly much stopped writing here as have most forum members I notice. The problem here now is that this section of the forum is not really needed. The many comps. and tipsters on the other section [it's really grown] is what clicks over the forum's 'visit counters' that attract and keep advertising and probably determines advertising price too.
Huge numbers of non-member punters visit the tipping and comp. page for tips and soon recognize who is good at tipping winners and who isn't. It's the visit capital of the forum but was not always so. That's all well and good for management as they got to eat, The downside is that where opinion and ideas are mostly expressed and shared is here, in this section and it is being 'tailored' to look good and to edit out any comments advertisers might not like and even helpful web addresses for punters are being deleted so advertisers can't point and say; "look, they are being advertised for free and I'm paying"!
Basically we are now irrelevant and this section only totters along and originality, characters, humor, innuendo, heated discussion and anything else that might be half interesting is being slowly strangled unintentionally. Not to put too fine a point on it, this forum has become 'bland". Natural attrition is at work from the [natural] action of management, not the deliberate design of management. It's the end result of commercialism everywhere. It becomes dumbed down and squeaky clean.
This post or even the whole thread might go too [it's bad advertising, but blandness can't be hidden] as will any punters here who knock the new order too loudly or often. Slowly the old guard will all just disappear [voluntarily or with a push] and any interesting new members probably won't hang around for long either. The good thing about the internet is that new and interesting pasture is never more than a couple of mouse clicks away :-)
JOKE:
During the depression an old bloke on the road knocks on a farmhouse front door. When the misses of the house opens the door the old bloke gets down on his knees and starts munching on the grass and says: 'Things are crook missus, really crook, I'm starving'. the missus tells him [in no uncertain terms]: 'go around the back, the grass is longer!".
Cheers.

I have a life Crash.
The reason I posted what I did is because I'm sick and tired of seeing people whinge about the rules of the site. It has been clearly explained on more than several occassions what is allowed and what is clearly not - yet people continue to post websites and then complain about the moderation.
When was the last time these complainers read the terms and conditions???
I do not work for the man, but I am a PAID advertiser.
Yet have not once complained to management about any poster, nor competitors mentioned on this forum.
Whether you think I have the power to ban any member is irrelevant - I don't.
The bottom line is for all the complainers...stop breaking the rules and then whinging about the consequences.
I understand the frustration of having one's posts edited when it seems what has been posted is harmless, but this site is not a club or a free service. The forum is free, but it is a commercial business. Surely nobody can complain that they want to protect their income.
Just have a look at the quality of moderation of some competitors sites:
One site has spiralled down into disguised advertising in almost every post.
Another just locks the threads
What's the point?

We suggest some people really do need to read the Terms of Use.
In its sector, this site has very high search engine rankings. That means large numbers of new visitors here each week.
It also means potentially defamatory comments will be picked up by search engines. "Promotional" posts and links will also be picked up by search engines.
There are unfortunately also internet "cowboy" businesses which try and take advantage of our very high search engine rankings for free. If permitted this will affect the commercial viability of our sites. They are not hobby sites.
We are not in a position to allow this forum to be used as a free advertising/recruiting ground for other internet sites such as forums and member only sites where you need to register as a member of that site to access information.
(Note - no registration is required to access 99% of the information on our main sites, www.smartgambler.com.au (http://www.smartgambler.com.au/) and www.propun.com.au (http://www.propun.com.au/) )
We've even seen a post on another forum where a few named people were thanked for joining this forum and recruiting members from this forum! We are not going to name the forum here - free advertising here and search engine rankings.
Please note:
This forum is not allowed to be used as a free advertising tool/recruiting ground for other internet sites and other internet forums.
