View Full Version : Derby Day

Real Deal

Not much been said so far..... Let's get into it.

No doubt its the biggest day in racing for the actual racing for the year.

Lets get some thoughts on what people like, Personally i have marked a few:

Permaiscuous after its last run should be a massive show.

I was very impressed with how close green birdie got to Miss Andretti last start and have loaded up at $3.50 a place. It wouldn't surprise me at all to see green birdie win the ascot vale and miss andretti win the salinger.

Alot of people are writing off El Segundo-NOT ME. In one of the weakest fields the Mackinnon has assembled i think big El will donkey lick them (Bit like Armee 2 years ago when a cert beaten in the cox) and prove he is the best we have (Vics).

I also like the chances of malcolm in the last. Beadman no doubt would have had the choice out of Malcolm and Amerryking, whilst i am not reading too much into it but i think that it is a big enough lead along with malcolms last start 3rd to RTW for me to get on board.

I think cheeky choice will run a massive race and shorten considerably for the oaks where she will drop a couple of Kilo's and be very competitive.

Initial thoughts....

R1-13 Permaiscous
R2-2 Maybe Better
R3-1 Wonderful World
R4-1,4 Cheeky Choice/Anamato
R5-2 Rewaaya
R6-3 Efficient (Gorky Park?)
R7-7 Accumulate
R8-1 Paratroopers

Good Luck..... might see you there (we'll be in the Domain Marquees ;) )

The latest news is that El might not even run tomorrow due to the track condition which is currently rated as Dead.

I like the way King of Ashford ran in the Coongy. Might put in Temple Hill and Molotov in my trifecta as well.

For the main race, as the track expect to favour the front runner, I might go for Get Square as it hold of Ulfah well in the Robinson.

I hope Maybe Better can win the SAAB. I like the way Vanquished finished in the Geelong Cup but wet condition (dead track or slower) doesn't suits him.

In the Salinger, I like Magnus and Shadoways. I like the way Magnus finishes in the Caul Sprint behind Biscayne Bay and I also like the way Shadoways finishes in the Gilgai behind fast n famous. Too many to pick from this race.

In the Ascot Vale, I will take some risk on Nediym's Glow for some value. The main danger is Wonderful World and Gold Edition.

Im going tomorrow, its going to be ************ PACKED. My dads friend has a share in Divine Madonna, so we are hopeing she runs well. Hard to beat Rewaaya but its racing so you never know; apparently the jockey said the track was to hard for Divine Madonna in her last start, a dead track will suit her well.

Real Deal: Cant agree with you more about Green Birdie. Finishing a length behind Miss Andretti and also up the straight. I couldnt see any of the others running that close to her. Biggest danger i feel will be sharkbite.

Shadoways in the Salinger, meets Fast & Famous 2kg better than when it went down by a head last time, if the speed is on which i have no doubt it will be, this horse will be in the mix at the finish. Wasnt suited last start but still hit the line well.

Im gunna chuck Legs in the mackinnon, seems to have some great form over in NZ and basically just for a bit of value, as the NZ runners always are here in their first runs. King of ashford was impressive last time but ill have legs over it in this race.

Ill be on Tuesday joy, just trying to get my money back from the spring champion.

Imana, ill have a little e/w on it in the last just coz i always do. Prob one of the most underrated horses around.

Good luck tomorrow. It should be a great day.

How about Aqua D'Amore in the Mackinnon. Not in the MC so probably set for this after beating all but one in the CC. Good record at track, trip and dead ground.

Can someone give me some solid reasons why Miss Andretti can be beaten as I can't find any so maybe I'm missing something.

Race 1: Wordsmith E/W (he looks big odds at the moment IMO)
Rcae 2: Irazu E/W (Thought Vanquished should win but i don't take those odds)
Race 3: Snort E/W (Surprised noone is mentioning it will be flying home late)
Race 4: Rendzina/ De Lago Mist E/W (wet track worries me with Rendzina)
Race 5: Lyrical Bid E/W (Reckon it is the best E/W of the day)
Race 6: Sirmione W (Either it The One or Ankh Morpork will do me)
Race 7: Purde E/W (I am struggling to pick anything in this outside El Segundo)
Race 8: Gee I Jane E/W (Great odds for as pretty damn good horse)
Race 9: Spirit of Tara E/W (What can I say I am a sucker for this horse)

Great win by Tuesday Joy!! I thought nothing would get to Cheeky Choice turning, so for tuesday joy to win has to be a great hope now in the oaks.
