In yesterday's Telegraph the racing editor wrote that Tabcorp supremo Robert Nason revealed that Tabcorp would soon announce a series of innovative betting dividends that will prove a bonanza for punters.

Having just studied that article, my bet is that it is just Nason's way of pretending to be doing something when actually nothing will happen.
The Spring Internet merging initiatives have produced a backlog of problems that will literally take at least a year to patch up. TABCorp also claim they will never get the Internet speed back to what it was.
I'll be amazed if they can introduce bonanza innovations without considerable Internet development.
The main thrust of that article is merging of pools. The resultant removal of competition could well have an adverse effect on turnover, and who his going to risk their job by approving the mergers?
One thing merging should do is give Betfair a huge boost. The pools will be less volatile early making it easy for the ever-growing number of astute players to find value on Betfair.

In case anyone is still holding their breath for an imminent rash of Nason-induced punter-friendly initiatives, consider these news headlines currently being trumpeted at the TABCorp site.
Competitors must be quaking in their white shoes.
