View Full Version : 'GROUP RACE GLORY' COMP
Spartacus
29th January 2007, 09:42 PM
Welcome to the Group Race Glory Comp !<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /><o:p></o:p>
The aim of this comp is FUN, FUN, FUN. Oh, and also to see which one of you Horse Racing Desparados will become the KINGPIN GROUP RACE TIPSTAR I have tried to keep this simple because Im sure Sportz and Crash have far too much time on their hands! Ive kept the dollars out of this because Im only a primary school teacher and cant add up too well.
I also kept the $ out of it because I want to reward the best overall GROUP RACE tipster on our fine forum, not just the lucky ************** who snares one or two first 4 for the season.
<o:p></o:p>
OK DETAILS OF THE COMP<o:p></o:p>
Starting with the Lightning Stakes and running every weekend until the final day of the Sydney Carnival (April 14) Ill be asking for your top 4 selections on a group race nominated each week in the order youll think theyll finish.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Eg <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" /><st1:place w:st="on"><st1:City w:st="on">Melbourne</st1:City></st1:place> Cup<o:p></o:p>
2 Delta Blues<o:p></o:p>
12 Pop Rock<o:p></o:p>
23 Maybe Better<o:p></o:p>
13 Zipping<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Well keep a table following each race.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Points will be scored for the following:<o:p></o:p>
Top selection runs 1st 10 pts<o:p></o:p>
Top selection runs 2nd 6 pts<o:p></o:p>
Top selection runs 3rd 2 pts<o:p></o:p>
Box Quinella 15 pts<o:p></o:p>
Box Trifecta 30 pts<o:p></o:p>
Box first 4 75 pts<o:p></o:p>
If you pick the winner 3 weeks in a row you get a BONUS 100 pts<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Points for 1st,2nd or 3rd are earned for your top selection ONLY.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Thus, if you correctly selected the first 4 in running order you would earn<o:p></o:p>
10pts (1st) + 15pts (BQuin) + 30pts (BTri) + 75pts (1st4) = 130pts<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
Note<o:p></o:p>
If any of your selections are scratched your other selections will move up a place and you will receive the sp favourite on unitab to replace the scratching. If there are two equal faves youll get the number closest to #1<o:p></o:p>
If two of your selections are scratched BAD LUCK !<o:p></o:p>
Youll be out of the running for the first 4<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
SELECTIONS NEED TO BE IN 1 HOUR BEFORE THE BIG RACE
I think that is pretty much covers it
If you have any questions just ask and Im expecting lots of customers since Im a L-PLATE COMPMASTER and most of you leave your tips on other threads anyway.<o:p></o:p>
<o:p></o:p>
GOOD LUCK AND GOOD TIPPING<o:p></o:p>

Ahhh, good to see someone else sharing some of the competition organising load.
I think perhaps you could possibly reward people a bit more for picking the winner though. Perhaps 30 points if your top tip wins, 20 if it comes second and 10 if it comes 3rd. Then the highest possible score would be 150 points.

I knew a wiser, more experienced compmaster would help me out.

I certainly won't be backing Miss Andretti, but i've taken on the "best horse" the last two weeks and gotten burnt. I expect now that i have tipped the fav, that she'll duly fall over.

All good fun, tough race indeed, but there you go.
Chuck had the winner, so congrats to him.
Some disappointing performances for mine. Victory Chant had absolutely nothing, Deferential copped major interference by Victory Chant. Camarilla??? Who knows, ran on well so i'd hazard a guess that the race tactics were not up to scratch. Thought Gauci was not aggressive enough out of the barrier to take up a position. Got back and that was the end of her. Few others probably deserve a mention as well. Winners performed on the day.
That's all i really noted.

Nothing wrong with Al Segundo. The pace tactics that can come into play with such a small field is always a big risk for odds-on favorites. Those 2 leaders set him up and knocked him off [both mares too]. El Segundo is a better horse though.

She is doing well but went missing last night when asleep next to our bed upstairs - suffice to say the scream from the wife nearly scared me half to death - daughter was found wandering downstairs shortly after not in a sprawled mess at the bottom of them as we had feared

And the G1 Glory Champion is..... MAVERICK1993 - with some devastating tipping over the last two meetings. WELL DONE MATE!
Akin to his ol' mate Desert War (who gave him the bonus pts he needed)
Mav has run away from Real Deal and Horse Whisperer - who provided great competition in the placings.
Well done boys and thanks to everyone for taking the time to place your tips.
For those of you wanting a bit of fun over the next 8 weeks, check out the 'TREBLE YELL' competition thread i'm putting up today
