Any Fairbot users out there? It's a semi-automated trading interface for Betfair. Looks like the interface Betfair should have had.

Any problems with it I should know about?

Mmm. Ok I see. Just me then.

This actually looks quite useful. Used it to do some FTSE Intra trading last night and other than a few minor issues it look the goods.

PixieI use "Betting Assistant" myself and it's free. Seems to do everything Fairbot does and more, except dutch lays.

The free Betfair results tool is worth just looking at the page.
I got sick of refreshing my account etc for overseas race results.
While expensive, their autobet tool looks well worth it for my purposes.

I think there's a line there... ;) Anyway I'd much prefer a Dutch Lay to a Dutch Oven.

Thanks Burrah and CP. I'll check those out. The Dutch Lay is something I'd use quite often.

Burrah,

If I understand it correctly Betting Assistant is free till April , is that what you understand.
Is there any web site or manual of how to use this software.

Cheers wombat2It appears that the software currently available will remain free, but updated versions will require a 5 pound a month subscription after April. I've been using it for free for a few months now.
There are demonstration videos at:

After April 1st. you start paying for it. Renting it actually as there will be no one off purchase price.

They can keep it!

What version have you got.
I have version (0.99w)
The reason I ask is that I reckon I had a different version the other day, yesterday I had to do a system restore ,thus I lost Betting assistance that I had ,so I downloaded again and I reckon its a different version ( which might be the chargable version ) because when I start it it seems to download from the web and I dont reckon the version I had did .
I was woundering if the version you have doesnt download every time you start it that maybe that version will be free, if thats the case any chance of a copy if thats at all possible .

Cheers wombat2

Well I've been using Fairbot in conjunction with the normal Betfair interface for a few different things during the week. I'll use it by itself for tomorrows OZ racing.

There's some great stuff here. 1 second or less market refresh's give you a great insight into a markets shape. Using the Dutch Back and Lay tools you can actually place single bets of less than the $6 minimum without having to muck about. The realtime charting tool is kinda interesting but of more use in the UK thoroughbred markets where the prices ebb and flow more smoothly.

Still within my 15 trial period but will probably open the wallet.

Personally I have written my own software using the Free API available from Betfair.

Definitely worthwhile and there are enough tutorials around to teach yourself.

I am only using it for collecting data at the moment. It took me around 3 hours to write a program from scratch to constantly download the prices of the next horse race when there is only 1 min to go.

It also allows you to code in your own test criteria and see what would happen in real time without actually having to put on any money.

Anyway Good Luck.

Yes Wes I'm having a bit of a dabble with the API myself. I've worked in the field for many years and although I'm not a programmer by trade I can knock out a pretty decent C# app when I can find the time.

Fairbot is good but it's not Utopia yet.

Great to hear from you

Cheers wombat2I've got the same version as you, ver 0.99w

I appears that they tried to make the "suspended" which appears on Betfair translucent. It caused a few problems so they have restored the original version. It seem that's all the downloads were about.
