Application of System Rules

I have been looking at running a few different systems through a database that has Metro meetings only. (Please humour me Crash and others .... this is all theoretical I'm not wagering any money... it's just for fun - a Challenge!!!)

There are a number of systems I've come up with which appear to be (historically) viable.

(As currently I have no way of running the same systems on Non-Metro tracks) Has anyone have any thoughts on (or experience with) whether the same system rules should hold true on the Non-Metro tracks?

(I know the rules I use will have some bearing on the outcome, but in general terms? - if it is possible to be general)

One of the strongest rules that holds true , no matter what is...
Rule-Must be in the first 3 of pre-post market.
The stats show that there is bearly 1% difference overall between Country Provincial, Metro.

What one will find with certain rules, is that they may work on a Provincial track e.g. won LS in 7 days, 1200m races only.
Works OK on Provincial only.
It falls in a hole if applied to Country or Metro.

Another rule applied to Country races only.
Rule- Must have had a run in last 5 days exactly.
Doesnt work on Provincial or Metro.

Another rule to be applied to races with exactly 10 runners, Provincial only.
Must not have been placed at any of its last 3 runs.
Hits a number of good payers provincial only.
Multiple runners up to 4 in same race.
Falls in a hole if used on Metro or Country.

And so it will go , on & on & on until one goes crazy .

Generally I find systems I use now and then work better on non-metro tracks [no G1's or Stakes races etc. very often]. I guess it would depend on the rules of the system[s].

By the very nature of Country meets there is a of a lot of maiden races, and also a lot of first uppers (and also first starters) so I think things can get tangled there.
But I'm told there's not much difference in S/R say with Fav's or pre-post fav's (about the same), it's worth remembering that most races of 1200metres or less are won by first uppers.

You can run your systems on non-metro tracks by doing a search and setting Last Run Metro track to "N".

Then export the Last run data as an html document and using the autofilter feature in Excel.

P.S. You'll need to set some filters on the Last Run page or you'll have too much data to export, Excel only handles 65,000 rows of data. If you need to you can break the data into groups of two years or something.

Let me throw this into your mix. Laying the "11.00 or less" selections in my current "Pixie's Pix" thread on a Saturday or national Public Holiday is showing, and will probably continue to show a profit. Use the EXACT same method of preparing the selections on any other day of the week and you'll lay your way to the poorhouse. In other words whats a decent lay selection on a Saturday, is a decent back selection on any other day. I've only done limited testing on this but what I'm getting at is that the locale of the track may be of less importance than the quality of the information in the market.
