The straight course at Ascot underwent complete reconstruction ahead of the course’s reopening in 2006. Ascot now has an uninterrupted straight mile course following the elimination of the road crossing and a completely new drainage system has been integrated. The Golden Jubilee Stakes is run on the final six furlongs (1,200 metres) of the straight mile, with the course rising gradually throughout from the start to the winning post.

Amadeus Wolf ran 5th in last year's Golden Jubilee and 4th in the July Cup..,, scored first-up in the Duke Of York Stakes (1200m) at York last month..,,I'd be wanting more than $7.50

humdinger
6th June 2007, 09:45 PM
Asset, a lightly raced 4YO faces his biggest challenge..,,an onpacer and fresh..,, but others could go a bit too quick for him..,,unders imo at $9

Was it Benbaun that flashed home late in last years Golden Jubilee behind Les Arc? if so his run was sensational on that occasion and do either Les Arc or the horse that ran 2nd (Whether Bebaun or whoever) have any form at all since.

That was Balthazaars Gift (50/1 that day), Raw..,,currently listed 70/1..,,done nought since that run..,,Les Arcs (33/1 that day) won the Darley July Cup (1200) following his Golden Jubilee win but failed dismally at York (1200) mid May last..,,currently listed 20/1

Yea you are right I knew the name started with B anyway might be worth a specy at that price was a hell of a run last year if it could recapture that form at all.

I was actually lucky enough to have landed Les Arcs at $51 i think last year on fixed odds for the Golden Jubilee and I thought I got double figure odds in the July Cup aswell wasn't sure what he has done since then though.

Good one Raw..,, his run in the King's Stand before hand was much better than it looked..,, finished midfield..,, got held up a few times..,,wasn't beaten far at the end

No I had seen that that was half the reason why I had a shot at him in the Golden Jubilee did find it interesting that he had been over the hurdles before hand.

Over hurdles! Now I know why I didn't back him last year lol
Still, very strange

Les Arcs needed the run at York!
Had a wide draw, big weight & an easy track which did not play to his strengths.
Same race Amadeus Wolf an impressive winner.
Has matured further since his last campaign.

i understand what ur saying but regardless of the time she would have put in the same effort to win the race in whatever time..... if the time reads 59.44 instead of 57.44 and she still wins it doesnt mean she's done it easier...... they went there to win from the start. they would have planned for her to be at her peak for the king stand but yes the only doubt was whether she would back up. i dont think they would have ever even thought about just giving her the run in the king's stand to save her for the ascot

What a thrilling finish!
Had both Target & Soldiers.
Soft track didn't help Miss Andretti any.
Soldiers may now start in the July Cup.
Don't think Target nominated.
Soldiers a great chance for the double if conditions are similar to the Jubilee.

WAOS said: "Playing the EXOTICS around the aussies in particular Miss Andretti [for obvious reasons]. Best of locals probably Amadeus Wolf, Al Qasi, Borderlescott, Firenze & Soldiers Tale." Add Takeover Target to those and that's SEVEN horses you have backed in a race 17,000 kilometres away!!!

AND your latest comment suggests you won money on the race!!!

ROTFLMAO.....You guys!!! "Desperation" and "self deluding" are the words that immediately spring to mind!!!

See some of the same old faces still pretending that they're gun punters.

...pretending that they're gun punters...LOL..guess that just about sums us ALL up LOL

See some of the same old faces still pretending that they're gun punters.I don't know you, nor WAOS or anyone on this site.
Maybe you are right, I don't lnow if WAOS has a rep of being suspiciously celebratory after the race has run.
I do know, however, that he called it. He not only mentioned it in a list of 7 horses in a race with heaps of runners, but he highlited it and introduced it on top.
It made me go off and web search the horse, and I liked what I saw.
It was a value chance after Miss Andretti's enormous energy expenditure in the last, a comment made by another astute punter here.
I am no experienced punter, in fact, I almost got wiped out again in the last 4 days, I have sailed from great heights and landed near zero with a thud.
I'm posting because even if you are right Privateer, you didn't arrive there by assessing it from what WAOS wrote, it was uncalled for, you come off as a poster unable to see another punter score in a race that took down your huge punt on a certainty at low low odds and make a killing on it, leaving you bitter and writhing in resentment.
I know the feeling, I did it the other day on Goldie, against all my better judgement. Doesn't mean it's ok to allow it to make me knife another punter because I suspect them to be skiting without any evidence.
<dunno if="" waos="" is="" a="" fella,="" but=""> He called it.
And by the way Privateer, that 17,000 mile away quinnie paid HUGE.
Let's try to be a little supportive of each other, it's the height of stupidity to compete when it is really us punters against the system!</dunno>

Thanks for the positive input diogenes :)

Was asked if I backed Soldiers Tale, which I did.
FYI in the end I put more on Soldiers Tale than I initially planned - had good previous form good to soft. My luck!
Didn't say if I made a profit (or loss) overall.
What's the point, that's between me & my wallet.

Looks like someone didn't have their wheeties today :)

In fact Diogenes, I DID arrive at my conclusion by analysing what had been written! Statistical and scriptural analytical profiling is my area of expertise. I did that for 28 years before taking up punting full time.

I simply get tired of posters saying one thing pre race and then another post race. ie I'm playing the exotics/I backed the winner. Further, if he HAD "played the exotics" he'd be spruiking about the quinella that apparently paid well. Which is it? The exotics or the winner? In the end, based on his most recent posting, it would seem that he lost money. I hope he DID win but that is not the issue.

Further, if you ever get the time to read through any previous postings I've made here, you'll understand that there is absolutely no way I would place 1 cent on a favourite, let alone one 17000 kms away on a rain affected track!! You will also see that far from "competing" here, I have generally been more than supportive of the "us -v- them" philosophy.

I suppose one of the points I was trying to make is that if people are serious about their punting, why bet on races with little available form, in a foreign country where knowledge of racing patterns, track bias, etc etc.. is limited, on a race on at some ungodly hour of the day? Can anybody see why I feel that that smacks of utter desperation?

For what it is worth WAOS, I am man enough to apologise for having a shot at you and for the obvious offence you took Diogenes. Good luck.

PrivateerNow I see where you are coming from.
I haven't read back on your postings but I will take your word for it.
I was reacting to the posting from WAOS where he had Soldiers Tale highlighted as can be seen on this page as a quote from Wattsonek.
Seemed unfair to lay into the fella after he pointed out the horse specifically.
I am a novice, I'm new to punting and here to pick up whatever I can in how to go about it. For me, frustration means people talking about which horse will win an event when what I want to hear is WHY , how they analyse and so on.
Since you are being so forthcoming and sincere I will admit I was niggling and manipulating when I stated "that quinnie paid huge". I thought I was engaging someone being small minded and sticking the boot in and hoped to get it out in the open.
It worked but the results weren't as expected, much like my punting!
So I am not offended, but caught in the middle championing anothers' cause as it were.
I understand how it must feel for others far more experienced and knowledgable as I am now annoyed with newcomers making posts like I did 6 months ago.
While the points you made in your last post may be good ones, I think it is fair to say you didn't touch on them in the post to WAOS, (the parameters you outlined on betting on a race without knowledge of factors like track bias and so on I mean).
What did you do as an occupation re:Statistical and scriptural analytical profiling is my area of expertise?
Only WAOS will know if you are correct, and if you are he will be red faced. Perhaps he will be big enough to tell us.
