Pompeii Ruler is spring racing's dark horse
POWERHOUSE galloper Pompeii Ruler is poised to become the star of the spring, according to the country's leading bookmakers.
Just days before Pompeii Ruler begins his spring campaign in the Liston Stakes (1400m) at Caulfield, a survey of bagmen yesterday earmarked the chestnut horse as the headline act of the season.
The Perth flyer Marasco and John O'Shea-trained Racing To Win also have their share of admirers among the bookies.
But it seems $30 million colt Haradasun is the horse the bookies want to lay.
It seems many good judges are not convinced the horse was worth his eight-figure stud deal.
Some bookies also labelled Golden Slipper winner Forensics "over-rated", along with AJC Derby winner and stablemate Fiumicino.
