With the outbreak of EI punters have a full card of greyohund meetings to choose from so i thought i'd give a late mail review of tonight's Group 1 National Sprint Championship run at Sandown tonight.

Current Unitab market

$3.60 Mandagery Man
$3.80 Buckingham Chuck
$5.50 Pure Burst, Nitro Nori
$6.00 Bit Chili
$12.00 Back Tonight
$18.00 Scull Murphy
$23.00 Capriccio

Box 1 - Back Tonight

West Australian representative for astute trainer John Iwanyk. Key Factor is his perfect record from the one box with 7 from 7. Class could be the worry with weaker racing in W.A however does possess brilliant early speed and in group 1 races leading to the first turn is vital. Huge knockout chance.

Box 2 - Buckingham Chuck

Queensland representative for second year running for trainer Greg Cannon. Finished runner up in Launceston last year from same draw behind Immortal Love. Latest group victory came earlier this month winning the Group 2 Gold Coast Cup. Pre Post second favourite who posseses unbelievable first two sections. Can be tardy out which is a worry and will need to be out and running early for any chance. can win from any draw

Box 3 - Capriccio

Tasmanian ****** rank outsider in the field for long time trainer Ed Medhurst. Has an imposing record with 15 victories from 24 starts but on times run looks completely outclassed. There for the glory of running in a group 1.

Box 4 - Pure Burst

Dual Group 1 winner showed form of old last week defeating first class field around Sandown Park in 29.67. Another who shows early speed but can weaken late. Under the watchful eye of trainer Wayne Vassallo and will be the crowd favourite. Box Draw generally wouldnt worry but with plenty of speed inside doesnt look like she'll be able to cross early

Box 5 - Nitro Nori

Victoria's second representative shown plenty of promise early in his career and is in the hands of genius trainer Darren Mcdonald. Has recorded impressive win at the track and will chase all day. Career has been plagued by poor draws and the trend continues but has shown plenty of character defying those draws for a record of 12 wins and 10 minors from 27 starts. Might not be his time just yet but is all class.

Box 6 - Scull Murphy

South Australian representative for Rob Isaacson. Capable young ****** whose racing style is usually from behind. However doesnt look to possess the speed to win a race like this from behind. Has run some flying times around Angle Park and Gawler from wide draws so box six should pose little problem to his chances.

Box 7 - Bit Chili

New South Wales representative who finished second behind Mandagery Man in state final. Undoubtedly the fastest ****** in the race. Bad Box manners have kept this dogs record to just 12 wins and 7 minor placings from 25 starts. Ran a flying 29.77 at Wentworth Park two starts back and ran 29.64 in a trial at Sandown last week. The only ****** in the field capable of winning from worse than mid field. If he's within two lengths of the leaders going into the back straight shut the gate, he's home. If he leads, which he can, he'll win by 8. Box manners a huge worry but usually jumps when transferred to a new track. (he's run here before)

Box 8 - Mandagery Man

New South Wales leading representative has impressive form across the country and the early race favourite. Does mix box manners but usually good. Doesnt possess the early speed of some others but eight box a help to stay out of trouble early. The most consistent across all three sections and trialled 29.70 at Sandown Park last week. Surprised he's starting favourite despite being all class. The draw will be a worry because i dont think he can cross or get in by the first turn. Helped that Sandown is a track back markers can make a late impression.

What I Think.

Usually in races like this early speed wins it. I think Back Tonight will lead with Buckingham Chuck sitting off him. Buckingham Chuck flies through his middle sections and should be able to tackle for the lead. Mandagery Man has the aid of a possible few slow beginners on his inside and should be third or fourth early. Nitro Nori may be the greyhound who could surprise and Bit Chili will be flying late.

if you think bit chili will jump there's no other ****** to back.

my selections

Buckingham Chuck
Mandagery Man
Back Tonight
Bit Chili

Good Luck and hope this helps

possibly a huge all up bet going into the national sprint on fixed price rank outsider Capriccio. The greyhound is on the third line at 5.00 with 35,000 in the win pool well under the expected 20-30.00 starting price...... gives punter better than expected odds on the other runners. on supertab.....

Final Placings

7 Bit Chili
4 Pure Burst
8 Mandagery Man
6 Scull Murphy

Bit Chili - Amazing Run. Last halfway down the back straight was 7-8 lenghts from the leader Back Tonight. Produced a brilliant run wide then railed under the leader, crossed to the outside and nabbed Pure Burst to win.

Pure Burst - Looked the winner with 50 metres to go. thought running second down the back she'd weaken but put in the big strides only to go down

Mandagery Man - looked the winner on the home turn after producing a strong run down the back but couldnt sustain it to finish third

Scull Murphy - Stuck wide the whole way was a huge run and again forced 5 and 6 wide on home turn.

Back Tonight - As expected led them out but in the back straight could see he wasnt going to be the winner

Cappricio - Outclassed and lost his chances when tightened in running at first turn

Buckingham Chuck - Got more checks than a chessboard. hit at box rise, down the straight first time, at the first turn, in back straight ran up the three's ars.e. again another dissapointing big race run.

Nitro Nori - dissapointing. caught inteference but didnt turn up to race on the night. he'll hit back

a great win to Bit Chili who produced a flying finish. great run
