Summer Punting Comp?

Any interest in a saturday betting comp
$300 a week(all unitab Venues)
Running until last Saturday in January
Commencing Saturday 24 November

Need at least 8 people I'll tally the results each week unless someone else wants to do it

I'm in as long as it's not a luck-fest comp. [able to spend all the $300 on exotics], where one lucky punter gets a big pay out and from then on the only way to possibly catch up is with exotics betting only [boring as watching paint dry]. Why not win and place bets only?

how about we do what we used to do a while ago (but with bigger numbers :p)

you can do:

5 bets of $60 each
or
3 bets of $60 and one special of $120

win or each way is allowed

Since its called summer punting comp, how about have it for 1st december 2007 til february 23rd 2008. That will cover the full summer period. Thats 12 weeks of punting action. we then can have one for autumn, winter, and spring.

If we have 300 a week to play with, we should have 4 x 50 bets, and then one big bet of 100 to equal 300.

people can punt in any combination they like 25/25, 50 straight, 50 place, 10/40, 40/10.

the big special bet can be 100 straight, or 50/50, 10/90, any combination the punter chose as long as it equals 100. and the total bets equal 300.

simple win and each way betting should be allowed.

Sounds good to me. You should think about setting a max. and min. bet. Say, $25 to $50 bets for all-ups with a max. of $100 from the $300 total for that bet type. $25 to $100 bets for both win or place. Something simple like that[?]. It will make sure there isn't too many or too few bets and make your scoring task easier, which is important too.

It's your call anyway, but I'd advise to keep it simple and easy to score. I'm not sure but, you might want to think about breaking it down to 2x6week comps. too. 3mths for 1 comp. seems too long for a result [?]

have two tables, one for amount earnt, and one which has record.

someone who wins might of bet 100 on a 50/1 shot, seems impressive, but not when their record comes out at the end displaying something like 60 starts 2 wins, 1 second 0 thirds.

another person might have 60 starts 30 wins 5 seconds 3 thirds yet didnt win.

i.e. 50/50,20/80,45/55 etc
No exotics apart from all ups Max $50
All venues covered by unitab(within australia:no NZ,Hong Kong,Singapore etc)
Bets to be placed before 1pm on each saturday

I will tally results but will be away for a week over New year so Crash,Chuck or someone else can do the calcs for that week

PS Any other suggestions welcome and will kick it around some more

There will be a minimum of 3 bets since 100 goes into 300 three times. How about a maximum? If someone bets 5 each bet that will be a maximum of 60 bets for the saturday.

Late punters should be allowed to join, but they start on $0.

Your on the right track with the rules. Your better off leaving the Comp. open to anyone for the 3mths. Punters tend to miss meeting here and there and also drop out completely. You don't want to end up with only a few players toward the end.

As a bit of a rule guide, throw in a rule that the Fav. will be a Sub. for all scratchings unless a player replaces it and set a min. bet for win and place bets. Say, $20 or $25 min. bet. You don't want to be scoring 30 $10 bets [or worse] :-)

If your horse is scratched then you can post another selection on here, as long as the 'official' can see clearly that you have allocated another selection before start time.

Next time I will chose substitution horses incase it happens again.

I reckon ...for what its worth and its just an idea to chuck in the pot here.....
that if a horse is scratched then the money for that horse should be spread evenly over your other selections. This means you arent getting the advantage of picking another horse after 1pm QLD time as the rules state. If you can get another selection before 1pm then thats o.k. of course

If you had 6 x $50w bets and one was scr then you then get the remaining 5 x bets @ $60w....and get the full divie as it hadnt reached the $100max value.

If spreading the money over the other selections means you've then got more then $100 on the race as the rules state you cant either then >> you should get back a $1.00 divie on everything over the $100 bet (as long as the horse comes in)

$100 r3n1

if r3n1 is scr then you get:

$150 on r1n1 >> the first $100 at normal unitab dividend the extra $50 at $1.00 dividend

Couldnt be fairer then that could it?

Means you dont have to cop a sub and if your original selections were good enough to come in you get compensated without loss of a bet. On the other side of the coin your competitors wont mind you getting back your money at only $1.

So Good tipping particularly from crash and young buck this week
I would like to finish the comp now as i've never won a sausage on this forum but will continue on until February 23
So thats 4 saturdays left Boys
Its a wide open comp and you can make ground easily particularly if you have a go at a roughie like crash with absolut glam..Offenbach..his original selection won too but only paid $2.30 so he's a grand better off by changing
There are a number of ppl who have missed a few here and there but I decided to leave them in if they want have another go
william will probably have a hundred on a 35-1 pop and run over the top of us all lol :D


PS I wasnt going to have a bet yesterday but decided that I'd have $20 on Danny Nikolic in the jockeys challenge..he got up then i jagged a roughie at the gold coast ...Leges Opinion at $31.70 then had some more on Dakas gem in Perth so ended up winning about $300 in about 2 hours LOL :D

I could not access this site all afternoon, then it got desperate with only the three races left at Ascot, so I would of plunk my dosh on those, but then it became only two races left, and Im sure Ascot is the last meeting today, so I was going to get on here and ask special permission if I can get $200 a win on the second last, and $100 a win on the last.

But, then all the races had been run, and STILL could not access this site, but now after dinner I finally got access to it.

I am not too happy about it, as I was near the top, well top 5 I think anyway, and I post my tips every week without miss.

The above is exactly what happened to me too. One of my 3 bets I had ready to post was a winner [Ascot 3/7 Three Amigos $100 $6w] which would have put me in 2nd place, right up your clapper Rabbitz:-)

Obviously, considering I wasn't the only one unable to get onto this site, there has been a problem beyond our control. If things are going to remain fair here in this comp., those who weren't able to post their bets have to be compensated [not punished].
I'm quite happy to make $400 worth of selection today or have the amount credited to next Sat. Anything else skews the comp. and it's a waste of time going on with it, as the final results will be well and truly tarnished.

It's worth noting only 6 punters were able to post their bets yesterday.
