View Full Version : Is this Copyright? -please explain

Moderator can you please explain why the site racing trades dot com has threads from this site posted under different id names please?
i recently posted a thread on a horse called Ultimate Risk that involved both Chrome Prince & myself. I now find it on this other site under different names not to mention other threads from here.
Why would my posts come up under a site i have nothing to do with please?

Any post i make under the name King Cugat or anyone else makes under their log in name shouldnt be used any where else under a different author. Its called copyright! its also against media laws.

Don't worry AngryPixie,
I am sure you have been copied too. Why, even Benny's thread, about spreadsheets is there, word for word, with all the other comments, under different nicks.
My posts appear under different names as well, and until this morning I never even knew the site existed.
If they want to scoop up my inconsequential and useless offerings, they are welcome to it.

They have whole pages of other forums as well.
Must say, if I had written the parsing routine for them I would have been more imaginative with the names.
I bet their hits had increased beyond expectations.

Cracky, your prob right.
If it was actually someting important in the world Media Watch would be all over it. They love that type of thing. I think the difference here is that they havent taken pieces of information and combined it with other info & their own thoughts as most journos do to make up their stories. They have actually taken posts in their entire content and then added false names.

Your wrong, you have no copyright. Read the rules.
When you signed up as a member you agreed that anything you print here is owned by the site. The fact is anything you or any member prints here is copyrighted to the forum owners. They can use it anyway they like , even sell it. Nobody reads the rules of membership.

our threads are in their full under false names << thats the issue. My thoughts are under someone elses name.
Some of the boys in here who take so much time to put together ratings etc...they are not getting the credit for it.
How do you think they feel.
We deserve an answer...

agree KC...a lot of time & effort put in by many forumites

our threads are in their full under false names << thats the issue. My thoughts are under someone elses name. If it was my name i would see how it works but under different names = purposely misleading <<< thats the point....purposely misleading. Sell posts, name goes with it.
Some of the boys in here like Sportz who take so much time to put together ratings etc...they are not getting the credit for what they do.
How do you think they feel.
Opinions are 1 thing to buy and sell but when someone is shown to have put in time in a specialised field where others can advantage (ratings)it would be decent to tell them where their knowledge is being sent other then where they originally post their articles << which is where they feel comfortable with posting and am happy to share with those they know for free who perhaps have helped them at one stage in return
Sports goes to alot of effort. Ok if they put his name together with those ratings on another site then no damage to his good reputation. For Sportz to go over there and see that everybody but him is getting credit for HIS work..... << copyright is the word regardless of what rules state here.
If they said we can go into your bank account and withdraw all your money upon signing up here.....that doesnt make it legal. They can type whatever they want....doesnt mean its law.
Im not even saying they [pro punter] know anything about it. i would be surprised if they did
We deserve an answer...sportz especially. Regardless of whether it was sold or stolen.

Print anything here and it is no longer yours. Every member has agreed. Ignorance of the rules just doesn't cut it ... weep all you want.if someone typed something on this site that nobody took offence to. Then it was sold to another site & for whatever reason someone in another country did take offence to it OR what was said was brought to be injust in another country and someone from this other country decided to take legal action. They claim in writing to have been to the 'other site' to find this piece of evidence & have never seen the original site that it was posted on, perhaps because it wasnt written in their language or whatever. Who would be held liable? The poster or the seller of information from one site to the other? Does the shoe fit the same foot all the time?

Crash your not listening to the question being asked. Its theirs to own we understand, there is no ignorance. They can sell ....sure
The question is >> re-printing words / Paragraphs / in full under someone elses name where its obvious its done so to mislead the public. Also should the name of the poster be carried over in the selling process if its to be re-used again with the intent of not adding any further information to it. Do you or do you not know the answer that question 100% correctly Crash? The question of being morally just to those that keep your site running is the next one after that

I'd be very surprised if the posts have been sold. My guess is that the other forum is being padded with fake posts in an attempt to add some weight and substance behind whatever it is that they are trying to sell. If it looks like people are around then something good must be going on. What's the bet that you can't even post to it.

p.s. u didnt answer it. Youve just said what we all know. Refer back to them saying we can withdraw $$ from our accounts if we sign up. We know what they have written doesnt mean its legal. I wouldn't be surprised if we have a bit of a home-grown problem here. A bit of detective work doesn't go astray. Everyone has their own idiosyncrasies when it comes to writing posts, just like handwriting!

A copy and paste from the site that was [ironicaly] posted there today:

hi everyone my name is crash. Im a bit of a dope but thats ok. i can supply an answer to all your questions and usually do, well sort of! I hope nobody will steal my nick here although that doesnt matter because i dont really own it now i'm registered. Soon i will tell you all about how clever i really am. Stay tuned
------------------------------------------------------------------

Hmmmm, usually no apostrophes, sometimes capitals to start a sentence and sometimes not and usually a small i instead of capital I for first person. Often fails to use a full stop at the end of a post too.

It wouldn't conclusively prove anything, except maybe a strong smell of fish here, but anyone with half a brain would start looking in this thread [or others] for a match of typing style. It certainly doesn't match mine!

Guy and Neil would not sell the forum content under any circumstances - why would they?
It's an obvious hack and a weak effort to trade on search engine ranking - it may even be someone with a beef.
