Reaper.
Stick to the Sportsman.
The middle page liftout will give you everything you need "at a glance "
Just take the Sportsmans handicappers at their word. They have done the work for us.
DO NOT add any further rules as you are likely to "cruel" the method and effect the high strike rate and profitability.
I see where CRASH has kindly answered your questions.Thank you CRASH.
I am the author of this plan .Any problems contact me at hotmail.

When considering weight rises, do you count from the given weight or the carried weight?

Hi Mr.Quaddie.
The Official Handicappers weight.
Monthly update for the method is.5/4/2008 - 26/4/2008
Win % 37.5 Place % 70.8 % POT 35.86 %
These are the WORST possible figures from the SP Nsw TAB ( and will use these figures as their possibly the lowest you could go,and I think thats fair to all)
Much greater profit of course can be made from BETFAIR /BOOKMAKER
Cheers.

Mr Quaddie.
Thank you for your kind comments.
I particularly like this one.
Been doing some research on another one with very promising results although the method only averages around 2 bets per week on Saturday.
I am hesitant to post that one as it probably wouldn,t have enough bets to interest anyone but I can say at this point the strike rate and profit is staggering ( albeit a short result base so far due the low rate of bets.)
Cheers.

Hello Darky Dog.
You have posted these figures.
Monthly update for the method is.5/4/2008 - 26/4/2008
Win % 37.5 Place % 70.8 % POT 35.86 %
I monitor this publication as well and I cannot see where your figures are correct. ??? Are you Sat only or Wed and/or other days Sportsman is published ??? Metro/all states ??
For the sake of all looking at your results, why don't you post the selections prior to running.

I cant see why Pundits like Darky has to have another unpaid job.
People can do there own research .
The idea is to put stuff up for consideration, do ones own research before betting real money .
Then drop it if its not their speed, rightly or wrongly.
It's not as if we are applying for a bank loan here, where people have to be spoon fed information before a due dilligence check is placed over them.
If this was applied to every idea, no matter how wild , no one would post anything, for fear of the due dilligence police, start trying to belittle them publicly.
Seeing that no money is involved, take what one wishes from some of the ideas that may prove valuable, into ones own punting ideas & make them your own.
At the end of the day, very few punters ever run with the exact rules to a system anyway. Punters instinctivley feel they can make it stronger if I just change this...
Cheers.

Hi everyone.
Thank you for your kind comments.
Thorns.
Yes. I am still doing the Super system ( has some great results)
I dont mind sharing system ideas with others though I do like to have runs on the board before I share the complete rules .The 2nd method has too few runs on the board at the moment to have the utmost confidence in it.
But I do believe it could be my best yet..
One thing I like to do with my methods is to keep them as simple as possible as I found a Complicated plethora of rules only lead back to a short priced horse ( the worst aspect of commercial systems )
i.e One old commercial system had averages of 18 - 34 bets per year at prices averaging $2.10 and a win % of 16 - 20 %.In my humble opinion no more form of punting torture could have been developed.
Being somewhat masochistic I recently monitored that one for 3 months with a 0 win %.
If my 2nd method works over my trial period I will certainly post it here for those interested.
Cheers and thanks once again for your kind and positive comments.

Darky, is all the criteria for whiz punt only found in the sportsman? been looking at winning post, but blowed if i can find it...
LEADER OR RACES ON PACE (H )?
SENIOR RIDER TO 1.5 KG APPRENTICE?
also, does more weight, or less weight than last start indicate a drop in class?
thanks mate
darkydog2002

Reaper.
ONLY in the SPORTSMAN. Though WIZARD online has the same info From everyrace.com
My suggestion. Use the SPORTSMAN exclusively.
Both Sportsman and Wizard are the "Rolls Royce" of form papers.
Re Class Drops .Normally drop in class = up in weight.

Reaper,
In reply to your questions:
LEADER OR RACES ON PACE (H )?
In the Sportsman Chartfrom section, you will see a column labelled 'Speed'. 'L' = Leader, 'H' = Races on pace
SENIOR RIDER TO 1.5 KG APPRENTICE?
You'll find this in all form guides. Senior rider = non-apprentice. 1.5Kg Apprentice = an apprentice with a maximum claim of 1.5kg (this happens when an apprentice wins so many races and loses part of the maximum 3kg they started their apprenticeship with). The from guide will have the jockey's name and apprentice's claim in brackets. Look at Moonee Valley Race 4 Sat 3/5, Nicholas Hall 2kg (still has some of his claim but lost some due to good riding perfromances), S Murphy 0kg (has lost all of his claim coz he's won so many races), L McGill 3kg (still has complete claim)
Hope that helps
Cheers

Reaper,
Forgot to answer your other question:
also, does more weight, or less weight than last start indicate a drop in class?
Sportsman Chartform, column called 'Class'
S = Same class as previous race
U = going up in race class
D = going down in race class

Well done Darky hope the success continues.
Just a few questions.
1. Are you betting only on Saturday meetings?
2. Do you bet on the 4 main meetings (Syd, Melb, Ade, Bris) or do you include Perth?
3. Do all the city meetings perform as well as each other?
Again well done and keep up the good work.

Mr Quaddie.
The rules are unchanged.
I feel that adding any further rules will knock out the higher priced winners.
I am not fond of a great plethora of rules as too many rules ineveitibly lead back to short priced favs ( the bane of Commercial systems).
Never tried it on Midweek meetings. But if the rules fit I cant see why not.

Hi Darky,
Just trying to get my head around all the rules - must be the cold weather (Melb).
1. Do you include WFA races?
2. Does it matter if the horse has a spell between its past 3 starts (adding upto max of 9)?
3. How long have you been following this system? I have had a look back to start of 2007 (Melbourne only unfortunately) and it looks very promising!
Thanks Try Try Again
Try Try Again
22nd May 2008, 04:12 PM
As I mentioned in the previous posting I have looked at the results for Melbourne only, starting from the first Saturday meeting in 2007.
For people who are interested there were 51 selections for 13 winners (25.5% S/R) and 31 places, including winners (60.8% S/R) upto 17th May 2008.
Betting $20 on each selection ($10 win and $10 place), using SuperTab prices
Win bank $171.00 (POT % = 33.5%) and Place bank $121.00 (POT% = 23.7%)
However if you used Best of 3 totes or SP (if better)
Win bank $206.00 (POT% = 40.4%) and Place bank $164.00 (POT% = 32.2%)
I noticed that if you included the apprentice allowance to include jockeys that claimed 2kg there was a further 9 bets for 4 winners and one 3rd. You could argue that with the strong apprentice groups Melbourne has had for many years that including these 2kg apprentices would be worth considering. I do not know how other States would stand up.
There were now 60 selections for 17 winners (28.3% S/R) and 36 places, including winners (60.0% S/R).
Betting $20 on each selection ($10 win and $10 place), using SuperTab prices
Win bank $284.00 (POT % = 47.3%) and Place bank $134.00 (POT% = 22.3%)
However if you used Best of 3 totes or SP (if better)
Win bank $338.00 (POT% = 56.3%) and Place bank $181.00 (POT% = 30.2%
Congratulations should go to Darky for putting up such a worthwhile system - let's all hope it continues to prosper!

Try Try Again
23rd May 2008, 08:55 AM
I have looked at a further rule that I include in most of my form study and that is Average Prizemoney Ranking (APR).
From my previous posting if you delete all contenders, for the Melbourne races since start 2007, that do not have an APR of 1 to 4 i.e. must have one of the top 4 APR's you get the following result:-
42 bets for 16 wins (S/R 38.1%), Win Bank (for $10 bets) = $425.00 (POT% = 101.2%) using best of 3 totes or SP if better.
You eliminate 18 contenders but lose only 1 winner (paid $9.30).
From a place point of view you do lose quite a few good place dividends so I would suggest if you are looking at exotics I would include the APR rule to look for winning chances but would not include it if you are looking for place chances for the Tri's and First 4's.
Food for thought!

How do you work out APR?
Try Try Again
23rd May 2008, 10:46 AM
Hi Mr Quaddie,
Either use The Sportsman Chartform Average Prizemoney column. Horse with the highest Average Prizemoney is rated 1, next highest horse is rated 2 etc.
Otherwise Divide Total Prizemoney won by the Number of Starts to get each horse's Average Prizemoney. Then rank them in order from highest to lowest.

And will post on the forum .

I do include WFA .
I only look at starts in from a spell.

Darky,
Thanks for clearing up the questions I raised especially about whether the total of the last 3 starts MUST not be broken from by a spell. This has certainly improved the overall picture - one I am quite excited about!
Using the rules as set out by Darky (except including 2kg claiming apprentices then the results for Melbourne only since start 2007 using best of 3 totes (or SP if better) are :-
50 bets, 16 wins (S/R 32%), 33 places, including wins, (S/R 66%)
Win Bank $422.00 (POT% = 84.4%), Place Bank $202.00 (POT% = 40.4%)
If we now only bet the selections that have an Average Prizemoney Ranking of 1 to 4 then the results are :-
35 bets, 15 wins (S/R 42.9%), 24 places, including wins, (S/R 68.6%)
Win Bank $479.00 (POT% = 136.9%), Place Bank $102.00 (POT% = 29.1%)
From an early look at Melbourne for tomorrow there appears only to be one selection M7#6 Maunatrice.
Let's hope it is a winner!

Try Try Again
23rd May 2008, 05:40 PM
The results I just quoted includes Maunatrice in the number of bets had but obviously the race has not been run so the Win and Place banks, S/R and POT% are actually slightly better than quoted.
If Maunatrice does not run a place then the results quoted will be correct.
Shouldn't rush to get the posting out!

Since I commenced putting the rules on this thread and now with your added 2 filters API = 1 - 4 and allowing up to 2 kg claiming apptc.
29 bets /12 wins /win % = 41.3 % /POT 23.1 % ( flat stakes.)/Av number of bets per week = 4.All states including Perth.
In my opinion your suggestions are very worthwhile.
My plan of attack will be .
Continue to monitor with your added suggestions for a further 3 months.
Continue to bet the original rules only until those further results are in.
