stugots,
Thanks for the leg up, got 3.1 a place, which is a good divi for me being a place bettor.
I wish it would have won for your sake.
I just wish I could get the divis that you got today for the place, I would be in heaven.
Cheers.

8 bets
5 2nds
1 3rd

anyway now that the red mist has cleared, im after a bit of advice from the place punters amongst you
one of my win only methods is still doing well but the number of minor placings has forced me to have a closer look - figures for the last 20 weeks -
bets 1280
collect 1515
net 235
pot 18.4%
s/r 46%
high div $17.70
low div $1.10
average div $2.61
4 losing weeks out of 20
while the win still easily outperforms the place, days like today happen too often & the place looks able to help smooth the highs & lows out.
thought?

I bet to win, i find more profit in it.
Latley i have been looking for another addition to my portfolio and was going to see if i could profit from my top raters running a place and was thinking what is the best way to do this.
I have decided to run it as a seperate system say 5% of highest bank non reducing, if i can make a profit with them at level stakes then this will do me fine.
Another thing i was going to look at was a 2 horse allup win/place and see how my current figures would have gone.

Stugots,
There are days worse then this. I was betting a longshot system where a selection was a qualifier only if double figures. I still remember the day where from 18 bets I had 3 wins, 13 seconds and 2 thirds ...... yep I was betting for win ofcourse .......
Hang in there

in 40 odd years of betting I think the hardest lesson was to think in terms of 1000 bets, YES I mean 1000 not even 100.
Because our bets go on daily it's hard not to think in terms of todays result, but the only thing that matters really is "how did we fare in the last 12 months"?
You can lessen the impact though if you think of each days betting as ONE BET!
What I mean by this is say you have 8 bets today, and you back say, a $5 winner and a $7 winner, then your result for the day is $8 on $12 back so 1-2 for your money, etc etc.
OR, if you unfortunatly mix the size of your bets then think in terms of Total stake today say $16 return $20 so have backed a 1-4 shot, get it?
But be warned it will certainly bring you down to earth sharpish!

level stakes the only way to go - 1/2% religiously, & i do look at the longterm as much as possible, weekly result rather than daily, monthly rather than weekly etc, & taken the plunge & added place betting as well, just too many juicy divs missed out on.
week so far (units)
mon +24.1
tue -4.0
wed +3.5
thu -8.0
fri -0.6
but some days do drive me to distraction, see what today offers up - looks like the middle of winter with 4 heavy's & 2 deads!
