Hi just thought it might be interesting to see how everyone goes with the $50 won off the forums new comps.
Ive put a $5 multi on Speed Gifted (caul cup) into Maldivian (cox plate) into Darcarwasha (melb cup) to win about $100k lol! Also put on tonight a $20 multi for tomorrow, My Emotion into keano to win about $260.
Cause its money I didn't have thought it might be a chance to put some really out there multi's on and try to jag a nice collect.
Anyway cough up your bets people!!

Well apart from the first round I haven't bothered to enter. Initially I didn't realize the $50 prize money from the various management comps. here could only be used in a Sportsbet account. Thats great if someone already has an account, but for those who don't want to open a Sportsbet betting account because they already have established accounts elsewhere?
So these management comps. are really [as far as winning anything] Sportsbet account holder, or prospective account holder comps. I prefer member run comps. where winning gains nothing more than a bit of simple kudos, but thats only my personal leanings regarding comps.
Of course there is nothing wrong with promoting Sportsbet new accounts etc., but free betting money [up to $200 I think] is already offered by most if not all of the NT registered betting mobs including Sportbet I think, as part of opening a new account. I guess they are good comps. though for current Sportsbet account holders.
Anyhow, good luck to all entrants!

I opened up a new account but it didn't realy bother me. I had my $50 on Road to Rock to win the Epsom at $26 yesterday morning. Now I just pray it gets up. Into about $9 now and should shorten more. I must say it is a great prize with the free $50 bet along with the $50 to do with what you want. Yet, it will be an even greater prize if Road to Rock gets up.

I haven't had a go yet. I keep forgetting about them and when I finally remember, it's too late. I normally post my tips for comps on here after midday which isn't any good for these comps. The first week, I missed out on posting a $20 winner by just a few minutes, so after that happened, it sort of turned me off. :(

So if I open a Sportsbet account for $1 and I win a $50 prize, I'll be able to withdraw the $50 will I ? :-)

Crash I didn't have any money at all in the sportsbet account and they deposited the fund by bpay straight in there. So yes in theory if you wanted to you could pull it out straight away. It is as far as I was made aware by Neil and Guy just them depositing money into the account like you or me would.
Although I still don't see the problem, if someone is willing to give me $50 for tipping a good priced winner, whats the problem with using it in the account the deposit it into?

Horsewhiper,
I think you are missing my point.
I don't have a Sportsbet account [and nor do I want one]. No Sportsbet account, no $50 !

No I think your missing the point crash. You don't need to deposit any money at all. All you have to do is sign up for a sportsbet account, I didnt have one either but if I am going to get given $50 with no strings attached I'm pretty sure i'll take the 2min 37sec it takes to sign up for one.
I mean at the end of the day mate it doesnt really worry me, if your not interested in tipping it makes it easy for the rest of us with one less person to beat

I see your point Horse Whisper, but 'no strings attached' or are you guessing about that? Are you sure you don't have to turn the $50 over in bets before you can withdraw it [as you know, 95% of punters lose by the way so very little of the total prize money will ever see a punters pocket anyway]?
Apart from that, with this promotion Sportsbet is only legitimately doing what any other betting agency is doing, and that is trying to get punters to direct their annual loses their way by betting with them and not some other betting agency. I don't have any problem with that sort of business promotion and management have made it quite clear that these comps. are a Sportsbet promotion.
Personally however, I like to buy Australian and I chose not do business with, nor open an account and hand over all my personal details to Sportsbet. That's just me though and others can obviously do what they like. And yes your right, on the up-side, one less competitor to deal with here!
I tell you what though, if any other advertisers decide to get in on this company comp. act, 'Stickys' are going to dominate this forum page! Perhaps a separate Sticky forum page is needed here? :-)

I don't get it, why would you bother whinging about free money if you are lucky enough to jag a winner??
There is nothing stating that you have to direct your losses through Sportsbet, it is simply a free 50 dollars for you, if you win good luck, if you lose, it wasn't your money in the first place, it was Sportsbet's.

I have to open a Sportsbet account and supply them with all my personal information and then might have to turn the $50 over in bets too, so it is not a 'free' $50.
A [genuinely] free $50 goes directly into my bank account thank you and besides, $50 is small change anyway so I'm not 'whinging', I'm freely expressing my opinion as have others here and nowhere am I putting the comps. down [just legitimately explaining my reasons for not joining in]. So please mind your manners schmucta80.

Ok, so say you won the 50 dollars, and then you did back a winner, say at 5.00, you now have 200, as they may take the original 50 stake back, i have no idea, however, with the profits you can continue to turn over on the normal bets you would have had using your own money... Win Win in my eyes.
Just because you have to turn over the bet amount is no concern to me, I get to back some horses or dogs that I would usually back, however it is not my money being outlayed.
Hmmmmmm seems worth opening an account to me.
Watch my manners? Are you serious? It is a forum, and I offered no disrespect to you at all
And what is winging?

Crash the money is not supplied by sportsbet, like I said in another reply to you, Guy paid the money into my sportsbet account using bpay. As far as I'm concerned that's free money. You are right it's $50 and it's not life changing but geez it's gotta be the best tipping comp. around that any of the other forums are offering on a week to week basis.

Horse Whisperer is correct. There are absolutely NO strings attached. The prize is $50 cash which is BPay deposited into your Sportsbet Australia (https://www.sportsbet.com.au/partners/index/PID/107)account by OZmium, the owners of this website.
If you win the prize it is your cash. You are free to do whatever you want with the $50. There are NO conditions. It's your cash.
We started these competitions to add a bit more fun to the Forum plus of course as a promotion of Sportsbet Australia. (https://www.sportsbet.com.au/partners/index/PID/107)
We'll see how many Forum Members enter them during October and into November as we plan to give them a fair trial by running them at least up to Cup Day.
We're currently prepared to give away a total of $100 cash each week on the two tipping competitions plus $50 each week for the Forum Post of the Week.
We assumed that anyone who posts tips and ratings here or enters other competitions here would enter the Tipping Competitions we've recently started, at least the Tip a Winner, where just one tip is needed.
There are also many Members of this Forum who read but generally don't post. We are still hopeful that some of these Members will enter the Tipping Competitions.
There are also large numbers of visitors. We are hopeful that some of these visitors joining as Members each day will enter these Tipping Competitions.
After Cup Day we'll look at the support these Tipping Competitions have been given by Members of this Forum. It's basically up to the Members of this Forum to show by their support whether or not they want these Tipping Competitions to continue.
