Ok so of course they have changed it from last year so the class 6 on the end is no longer in the quaddie. It is 5,6,7,8 so we will add the MM Stayers race to it.

I'm not going to leave out the 3 in that race MD, really think it could improve with the distance jump and being on a track it likes.

Yeh I was thinking about including it and perhaps Centover.

I think I'm going to go very wide in this quaddie tomorrow. This track scares me....

Looking at 1 3 5 6 9 10 for the first leg.

I have a soft spot for Jazz Heart and the horse improved out of sight for this same meeting last year when it came third in the Magic Millions 3yo sitting 3 wide the whole trip and missed out by about half a length from memory. So depending how wide I go in the other legs I might have to include that one.

Best to go wide in quaddies.

Abs
11th January 2010, 11:31 PM
Best to go wide in quaddies. But if you go much wider than 24 selection, say 28 then ur percentage goes well done and quaddie was 4.5k hmmmm.

Unless u hit a massive 15k plus quaddie

I wonder what is the best quaddie strategy then.

I wonder what is the best quaddie strategy then.I seems i either go wide and the quaddie is small so i lose money or a bolter ruins everything. Just from my experience. I am sure some have won big.

Don't have a crack at it.After about 10 goes in the last month i have to agree, better off putting 100 on a tri/first 4 in one race and going wide i reckon.

The closest I have come to a big payout (for me) was on Toorak/Guineas day last year. Had 4 going into the last leg, the 3 fav's paying a minimum of $35k and a roughie paying $360k. I had 10% and of course didn't include Our Lorna who won the race. I will never forget that horse, it would have cost me an extra $50 to box the field and still keep my 10% payout and would have won me just over $10k. Oh well.

The best strategy is not to have a go at the Quaddie just for the sake of it , If you like a couple of the races and have a couple of selections you think are way over the odds then have a crack.

I think its all about trusting your ratings . Not just Quaddies but i'll look at Exactas, Quinys , Tris , 1st4s , trebles , extra doubles and doubles. Depending on how my ratings work out and what races the exotic legs fall on.

Last week Walking or Dancing should never had been at those odds , He was out of sorts a little down in Melbourne but previous to that had shown he was more than capable against that lot. Hes a horse i've followed for awhile . The race he was in has been good to me , last year Masai Pride won at ridiculous odds aswell and he's a horse thats an enigma but a fav of mine as i've seen first hand the times he can run. Then again i never rated the race (and last year) because its the time of the year i'm on the road visiting family and friends and holidaying (and checking out the sale) so if i rated the race i might have found a reason not to back it maybe ??

anyway H/W has proven you can profit on the Quaddie , i know its early days but it'll be interesting to see if he has the stamina to go on for about a year ;)

Good luck , you're doing well :)

I'm not looking to stop posting these up anytime soon Mav and It would be interesting to see how I go after a year. It only takes a couple of nice results to keep you in front and I generally go for the horses I consider value coupled with the obvious favourites. I've found your better putting the extra couple in for a few less % and getting a smaller payout than missing it completely. Either way I find them a fun way to bet.

I'm going to Melbourne for the blue diamond in february so can't wait to have a crack at the Big 6 down there! Last time I was there I put one on for about $20 had 65% and missed the third leg, threw my ticket away and didnt realise they paid a dividend on 5/6. Woops haha, it was only about $30 so nothing to cry over but still.....lol
