View Full Version : 29th. May Box a Trifecta competition

Management
27th May 2010, 09:49 AM
Entries close on Saturday at 12.15 pm. Sydney time. Of course you can't tip from any races that have an official starting time of 12.15 pm. Sydney time or earlier!

The meetings you can tip from are:

Bairnsdale (Not R1 and R2.)
Belmont
Doomben (Not R1)
Gold Coast (Not R1.)
Kembla Grange (Not R1.)
Moonee Valley (Not R1.)
Morphettville
Randwick (Not R1.)
Toowoomba

Please make sure you know the rules before you box your two trifectas in this thread.

This competition is fun and free to enter each week. You are given two chances to select a winning trifecta from Saturday's races. The person who tips the trifecta with the biggest dividend paying at least $240 (equivalent to tipping a $4.00 winner) as published on the Sportsbet Australia (http://record.sportsbetaffiliates.com.au/__BBFWysCs1Wu11z-n_bVh2Nd7ZgqdRLk/1) web site wins.

The winner is given:

1. Three tips instead of two in the following week's Tip a Winner competition.

2. In addition to this bonus, the winner will be PLAYING FOR AN EXTRA $300 FIRST PRIZE in that week's Tip a Winner competition. That's right - if the first prize in Tip a Winner is $200, then the winner of the previous week's Box a Trifecta can win $500 - that is an extra $300!! The minimum first prize will be a guaranteed $350!!

So read on ...

1. Each Thursday we'll tell you the race meetings held on Saturday from where you can box your trifectas and let you know the competition's closing time for the final post.

2. Each person is allowed to select two box trifectas. Each trifecta can have five horses selected. When you box your two trifectas, for each trifecta give:

a) The race meeting.
b) The race number.
c) The TAB numbers in order of your five horses. To help with reading your entries please place the number of each horse on a new line.

Example:

Moonee Valley
Race 7
2
4
7
9
16

Rosehill
Race 8
1
7
12
14
17

You should ensure that you correctly post the details of a), b) and c) above such as the correct race meeting. For example, if the meeting is at Randwick you should post Sydney or Randwick, NOT Rosehill. If you post Rosehill then your entry is null and void.

3. Once someone posts their two trifectas, they own any winning trifecta combinations that can be made from the five horses in each race, so when you post make sure you don't post the identical numbers in the same race.

4. Each person's trifecta is all in, meaning should a horse be scratched after you selected it in your trifecta you do not get another horse. This is only fair because once you post your five horses in a race before anyone else in this competition you own any trifecta combination they make in this competition.

5. For each of your trifectas you are allowed to include no more than three numbers anyone else may have included if they tipped a trifecta in the same race. However, should two or more people have the same three horses in the competition's winning trifecta, the prize will be awarded to the person who posted first as per clause number 3. above. You might be quite happy having three horses which were posted by someone else earlier than you, because you might be confident that one or both of your two other horses will be in the trifecta.

6. However, if you find out that you've accidentally included three or more numbers in your trifecta that are the same as someone who posted earlier you are allowed to make a new post before the competition's closing time.

7. In your new post, you will need to tell us the number of your previous post (every post in the thread will have a different number) and the user name and number of the post that had three or more numbers in their trifecta tipped before you posted. This post will have a lower number than your post.

8. You are not allowed to alter your trifecta just because you've changed your mind.

9. Posts with an edited message at the bottom are not accepted so do not edit your post after it has already been posted by you.

10. The person whose trifecta wins at the best odds, paying a dividend of at least $240, as published on the Sportsbet Australia web site is the winner. Click here (http://record.sportsbetaffiliates.com.au/__BBFWysCs1WhJjIwNC_yVWNd7ZgqdRLk/1/results/racing/Date/today) for the results page. If two or more people tie because their trifectas in different races pay the same dividend then they will each be given three tips in next week's Tip a Winner competition and each tied winner will be playing to win their pro rata share of the extra $300 an outright winner of Box a Trifecta plays for in the following week's Tip a Winner. For example two tied winners will each be eligible to win an extra $150 first prize in the following week's Tip a Winner competition.

11. Please note as it costs $60 to box five horses with $1 units, your winning box five trifecta must pay a dividend of at least $240 using $1 units as published on the Sportsbet Australia (http://record.sportsbetaffiliates.com.au/__BBFWysCs1Wu11z-n_bVh2Nd7ZgqdRLk/1) web site to be eligible for the weekly the prize. This is equivalent to tipping a $4.00 winner.

12. Each week the winner will be posted in that week's tipping thread by the following Friday - usually on a Monday or Tuesday. We'll also allow 24 hours before we declare correct weight, just in case there's a protest by someone who thinks they should be declared the winner because we may have made a clerical error.

Congratulations to Foxseal who tipped the $1,263.30 trifecta at Doomben R6. (Post 19.) Foxseal's five selections also found the $4,832.60 first four.

For next week in Tip a Winner Foxseal will have three selections instead of two and be playing for an extra $300 first prize.

Correct weight will be declared on Wednesday.

Actually it paid over $1400 in NSW and the First Four over $7000. In one of those lucky occurrencess, my other selection finished 5th! And this week I was on...... ( ;-)#

I've previously fluked a couple of these and also nabbed the odd 'tip a winner' - having heaps of fun on SPORTSBET with the winnings - but this week I'm feeling the pressure with 3 selections and the potential bonus. Go easy on me team: I'm currently undergoing intense chemotherapy. Can't complain - this competition cheers me up every week. Foxseal

Well done Foxy - you're tipping like your namesake raced. I think I said he was by a NZ sire called Foxborough but I checked this and he was really by Imperial Seal. If I had a horse name I think I'd be Puramaka, an old favourite and dual Warrnambool Cup winner. He won lots of other country cups too, including Ballarat (I think). OK mate, it's gloves off next week - you've raised the bar though my friend. Gloves off to me usually just means cold hands.

Thanks a lot, "Perce". Nice work on 'my' breeding - maybe Foxseal was out of a Foxborough mare? I remember Puramaka quite well. I saw one Ballarat Cup live in the 70s - I think "Our Dot" won it. I love those country cup warhorses, being a bushie from Bathurst myself: our cup was abandoned this year.

I'm not sure which model of this comp I prefer: the 50 in hand was always great - esp the times I won - the four tip version with unknown bonus is tempting and empowering, but the latest version with at least 300 extra is stressful, particularly as the bare handed Percentum is ready to pounce. Moreover, there were selected winners galore last week and we seem to have a few more starters. Enjoy, all ( ;-)#
