I'm a great believer in consistency and betting on animals that show they are already in form. With the greyhounds, you have one less variable to worry about - no jockeys!
This is a system I had some joy with back in the 90's (I still remember when the Melb dogs were run at Olympic Park!!) and haven't looked at again for almost 15 years, so I'm sure the Forum Curse will run hot on this one, but, I'll do the selections anyway and keep a running total. Make up your own mind from there. I'll be using the newspaper Prepost Pricing as I don't have access to an online service.
This system is a full week's worth of action, played at any track in AUS, day or night, and considers only pre-post odds so can be run over a field any day or night, the selections determined, bets placed, and the forgotten about until the next day (the way I like to play it). Or you could be at the track or on your PC and chasing best odds right up until they sprint. Doesn't matter.
Note: Practical Punting Magazine (Blackwell, Jon Hudson, The Optimist, Don Scott, and my Dad) were the guys who gave me every single idea I ever had about punting. Nothing I run is 'original' to me - even the tweaks are other people's original ideas I've incorporated. About the only thing I did different was run these two methods together for more consistent overall profits.
So let's have some fun with the Dishlickers!
Rules
Consider the first 2-3 Favs if all under 4/1 in prepost only.
If last 2 runs add up to 4 or less, the mutt is a selection.
Must be running in either Box 1, 2 or 8. You can ratchet down the action if you want by considering only one certain box (1,2 or 8) as you see fit.
If more than 1 selection, pick lowest box number (ie. 1 before 2) only.
Bet to win only
You'll probably need to average prices at 9/4 or better to make this one pay (a great advantage of being at the bookies back in the day). If you can, level stakes profits are (or were) achievable.
Good luck. :)

Is this one of Brian Blackwell or Barker Bellfield methods.?
Both top dog punters .
As an aside.I reckon the best Horse system they ever bought out was Aus Pro

'ere 'ere for the Aus Pro system, cost me about $20 in the late 60s or thereabouts and it was terrific. But as time went on and with the advent of computerised data bases etc. I found that I would be spending 15-20 minutes per race and end up with my selections almost parallel to the ratings that were being published for free.

Apologies for the slight break in transmission - moving house with a baby is a nightmare. :(
PLEASE NOTE - if you use TAB divs instead of the SKY Racing ones I'm using, you'll do much better. In fact, I had us in profit after completion of Sunday's racing using The Sun results - but lost the workout sheet between then and now... :( Nevermind - the winners are what counts in this - the better prices are for you to chase and will be individual.

I ain't followed your thread bonecrusher, but might do because I find them what follow up their predictions with actual profit loss statements are very interesting, particularly if they show a Profit.
Yours don't.
But is very brave of you to do it and I admire you for your efforts and to me it is not about tipping , but sharing.
Know that I will be here reading if you ever feel dejected.
And that I am interested whether you win or lose.
I get dejected when it appears noboby gets any benefit at all from my posts.
Especially when no one bothers to read, which I can't really blame anyone but myself.
You can't force anyone to admire whatever it is you feel you may have.
Can you do me one more thing please bonecrusher?
Could you paste the animals name beside its number?
It makes for better reading than just a number.
Cheers.

Hey Moeee - thanks for the support. I don't need it though - this thread is about showing ideas and a full workout, no matter who is reading it now. And I agree these ideas need to be fully documented, researched out and then left for others to interpret and (perhaps) modify to suit themselves at a later date. But thanks anyway for the words..appreciated. ;)
I'm confident this system will turn a profit thru the better racing months of November and beyond, and I'll be showing that. I'm also confident that punters backing on the track, or thru anything but the VIC TAB, can do far better than I'm showing. I also suspect that track specialists would find some patterns in the data coming out here. Even if we can't erase the Loss built up, the fact that it can make a profit, even at some stages of the racing calendar, would be enough to make it a worthwhile exercise don't you think? As people can adapt that fact to suit their own needs.
Nobody is the same when it comes to betting. So I present this, warts and all, in the hope someone can take some something from it, 'paper loss' or not. :)
Finally, on the dog's names - I won't be doing that. This system is about a 2 minute work out of fields WITHOUT knowing anything about the dog itself beyind merely it's form and Box number. Sorry about that - its just not relevant to this system (and could possibly hinder a weaker will).

I'm sorry Bonecrusher.
I didn't realize your selections were based on zero knowledge.
Did you know that most winning Punters are winning Punters because they know more than the losing Punters?
I don't know that.But I assume it because it makes sense .
I just read your 5 Rules.
The only thing you have going for you is oif the rules will seperate the Overbet animals from the Underbet ones.
Rule 1 is useful because Don Scott and others have suggested that the best Value bets are around the 3 to 1 Mark.
But not enough to make a Profit. You must get the best Odds available to do that.
Rule 2 appears to increase the strike rate , but not necessarily introduce an increase in Profit.
In fact I suggest it may well decrease the Profit, because uninformed money tends to fall on animals with good latest form.
Rule 3 again increases the strike rate, but many database sorter-outerers have found the middle boxes tend to show less of a loss due to the higher dividends.Middle Boxes are very unfashionable.
Rule 4 again increases the strike rate with perhaps no increase in Profit.
Good Luck with your system Bonecrusher.
But in these days of Computers and Databases, winning systems like these that were around in the old Olympic Park Days, may have worked, but I feel you will end up with a minimum loss of turnover of the current take-out which is $15 in every $100 bet.
Cheers.

The thing is , you can choose your friends , but you can't choose your enemies.
I don't mind having no friends, but it sure is lonely :(

The thing is , you can choose your friends , I think you got this upside down moeee, you don't choose your friends, you become friends through mutual interests and compatibility.
but you can't choose your enemies.Yes you can, just make sure whom you upset.
If you don't speak your mind you never make an enemy.
I prefer to speak up, and stuff the consecvenses.
I don't mind having no friends, but it sure is lonely :(Not having friends sometimes comes from deep down.
Because you don't want to get involved, you subconsciously alienate people. (one can of course be of a natively nasty disposition too)
We are getting into philosophy here, not in the realm of this forum.
But the forum is quiet at the moment, so maybe we can get away with it eh?
