Do you know Class when you look at a Field of horses.
The Quality Class an animal possesses that makes it find that little bit more when it is needed.
Well you need to develop that ability with greyhounds as well.

I ain't got it after 5 years or so.
I don't think system followers can develop it.
But one hint is animals that win on City Evenings and ones that win on City Day Meetings.

SEISMIC GREEN is NOT a CLASS animal.
Its 3 last starts were all on Sunday Afternoon Sandown Meetings.
Be aware of that if you are doing Form Study.

Another tip for you is to learn who the top Trainers are, unless you already know.
But like Bart Cummings and Gai Waterhouse and them others what I don't know, Jason Thomson and Graeme Bate are head and shoulders the best and their dogs are nearly always prepared to win every start, but the Odds are usually underlays.

there must be some way of knowing prior to the race whether the studies will prove right, or are just guesswork, or even wildly innacurate.

I was thinking of comparing my markets with someone with even a modicum of ability to frame a market , but it seems no one is interested in similar form study.

And I really ain't departed in a major way from my usual handicapping.

Woof - did you ever lose a substantial amount in a month , with no definite reason as to why it occurred??

Yes, some mind boggling $ in HK, caused by an algorithm gone wrong.

Moeee,

Your handicapping every race the same, and presumably wagering in the same way, big mistake.
As I bang on and on, look at the Fav, understand what major and minor factors the public have used to decide this Fav for todays race. Then see how your handicapping stands up against those types of Favs. in the past
Then you will come out of your current "blind spot".

Moee, here is a simple race classification of Race 9, I only included simple stuff
the lower the rank the better
Once you classify a race not on Grade/ Class, Distance age sex etc etc you move from Handicapping the animals to handicapping the wagering public.
This is where our horse racing "back-fitting" friends on here are not seeing the trees from the forest.

Forum curse strikes again!!!

Okay Woof43.
I can't do what you suggest because I don't understand what you are saying and never have, and never will.

But what I will do is pay more attention to what I am doing in my handicapping, so that I don't end up doing what everyone else is doing.
Because doing what everyone else is doing, and not doing it quite as well, is a guaranteed way of losing over 14% in the long run.

Let's say in Don Chendo race, the public has made it top elect , not because of the post position, but because of Time, and Early speed. Your handicapping may decide it is 2nd elect. When the race has been run, they were right you were wrong, now you record this over and over for every race that matches that same situation you find your a loser on those types of matching races, now you know you have a "blind spot" in your handicapping for this subset.
Either you avoid those races or wager differently and become a winner.

EDIT you forgot #7I have to admit I omit the late mail and "best overall" from my selections for win, but put them in the multiples.

I was hoping the 3 would do better but can't win them all.

Either you avoid those races or wager differently and become a winner.

I ain't exactly read what you wrote just yet Woof.
I read it but ain't digested it.

So like today in Race 8 at Bendigo.
There was an animal #8 GLOMING who won the race at $3 Favourite.
I dismissed it as about a $7 Chance.
And after the Race, I still couldn't find how to make it win using my style of handicapping.

Is this an instance of recognizing that that sort of Race is not for me, or I perhaps I need to make more of an effort to find out what it was that the public did, that I didn't, and ain't doing when I study.

Yep, thats it, don't dig around finding why, just know Joe public wagered differently, then look at placing your dog in the minor placings and wager the exotics

Check the classification the Favourite doesn't rank 1 except when Class / Time combined and there its equal ranking.
This requires a different wager setup.

hope it runs true.

I only had the one bet on the horses today, no two actually, No 14 50*100 and $30 for win on No 10 as a saver on the last race at WAR.

I was so hoping she'd bring the horse home but I think she ruined her chances by trying to lead all the way.

But that's racing.

Well done with your horse bets Lomaca.

I pretty much do on City Meetings.
I think I clawed back about a hundred bucks tonight.

If I can do as well tomorrow, then that will be simply fantastic, because I felt good about my handicapping tonight, even though I'm spending an eternity on each race.
But if thats what needs to be done, then thats what needs to be done.

I bombed out inb the last Race, but had a collect in most others I played in.

Catch you all tomorrow where there shouldn't be too many races worth playing and I will be able to post most of My Markets.

If you want to post some tips prior to the races start Lomaca, I can let you know whether you may have messed up.
