One of our aims with this competition was to generate excitement with someone tipping to win at least $1,000 every week.

Much to our surprise this has not happened as weekly winners have chosen not to tip for $1,000 the following week.

As a result we have made some initial changes which hopefully will mean most weeks someone is tipping to win $1,000. This also means that we will be able to pay some lucky big winners $1,000 in cash!

Tip a Winner Competition - Cash Prizes

This competition is fun and free to enter each week. All you do is tip a winner from Saturday's races. The person who tips the winner at the best odds of $5.00 or better as published on the Sportsbet Australia (http://record.sportsbetaffiliates.com.au/__BBFWysCs1Wu11z-n_bVh2Nd7ZgqdRLk/1) web site wins and we'll give the winner a cash prize based on the number of valid entries in this competition OR the chance to play for at least $1,000 the next week. So read on ...

The winner will receive a cash prize of

$20 - for up to 39 valid entries.
$40 - for 40 to 69 valid entries.
$60 - for 70 or more valid entries.

BIG DOLLARS CASH PRIZE BONUS
$1,000s dollars cash prizes up for grabs!

This is how it works.

1. When you win Tip a Winner with a first prize that is above we will give you the option when we declare "correct weight" for you to choose not to collect your cash prize but instead go all up to win at least $1,000 in the following week's Tip a Winner competition for outright first. (Pro-rata amounts if there is a tie for first apply of course.)

a) If your prize was $20 cash you can choose not to collect that $20 and instead play for a $1,000 cash first prize in the following week's Tip a Winner competition.

b) If your prize was $40 cash you can choose not to collect that $40 and instead play for a $2,000 cash first prize in the following week's Tip a Winner competition.

c) If your prize was $60 cash you can choose not to collect that $60 and instead play for a $3,000 cash first prize in the following week's Tip a Winner competition.

2. Should your cash prize for winning Tip a Winner also include prize money from one of the four cash prize bonuses below you can elect to go all up with that part of your prize money which is above PLUS also collect in cash your Cash Prize Bonus. (Pro-rata amounts if there is a tie for first apply.)

The $500 cash prize bonus

If you tip a winning horse at odds of $20.00 or better, but do not win Tip a Winner, if you win next week the cash prize you receive will be increased by $480 to a minimum of $500 cash!

The $400 cash prize bonus

If last week's Box a Trifecta competition winner wins this week's Tip a Winner the cash prize will be increased by $380 to a minimum of $400 cash!

The $200 cash prize bonus

If you tip a winning horse at odds of $10.00 or better, but do not win Tip a Winner, if you win next week the cash prize you receive will be increased by $180 to a minimum of $200 cash!

The $150 place cash prize bonus

If you tip a horse that places and pays a place dividend of $10.00 or better, if you win Tip a Winner next week the cash prize you receive will be increased by $130 to a minimum of $150 cash!

Entries close on Saturday at 12.30 pm. Sydney time. Only TIP FROM RACES that have an official starting time AFTER 12.30 pm. SYDNEY TIME.

Please make sure you know the rules before you make a tip in this thread.

1. Each Wednesday or Thursday we will tell you the race meetings held on Saturday from where you can tip your winner and let you know the competition's closing time for the final post.

2. Each person is allowed one entry. In that entry each person is allowed to tip two horses for the win. When you tip each horse give:

a) The race meeting.
b) The TAB number and Race number of your horse.
c) The name of your horse.

Example:

Randwick
Race 7
Number 1
Melito.

You should ensure that you correctly post the details of a), b) and c) above such as the correct race meeting. For example, if the meeting is at Randwick you should post Sydney or Randwick, NOT Rosehill. If you post Rosehill then your entry is null and void.

3. Each person's tips are all in, meaning should a horse be scratched after you tipped it you do not get another tip. That's only fair because the moment you tip a horse means that noone else is allowed to tip that same horse.

DO NOT DELETE OR EDIT YOUR POST

4. We need transparency with everyone entering being able to read what has been posted. You will be disqualified if you alter your post once it is posted (it will then have an edited message) or delete your first post after you have posted it (we will see a post deleted message) and make a new post.

5. Leave your old post as it is and make a new post before the competition's closing time if you find out you've accidentally tipped the same horse as someone else who tipped it before you. It's also best to refresh the page after you posted just in case someone else posted the same tip while you were typing it up. In your new post, where you tip a different horse, you will need to tell us:

a) The number of your previous post (every post in the thread will have a different number)
b) The user name and number of the post that tipped the same horse before you posted. This post will have a lower number.
c) If you do not provide this information your new post will not be accepted.

6. Leave your old post as it is and make a new post before the competition's closing time if you find out you've accidentally posted your Box a Trifecta selections instead of your Tip a Winner sections in this thread. In your new post, you will need to tell us:

a) The number of your previous post (every post in the thread will have a different number)
b) Why you are reposting.
c) If you do not provide this additional information your new post will not be accepted.

6. You are not allowed to tip a different horse because you've changed your mind or your horse has been scratched.

7. The person whose horse wins at best odds of $5.00 or better as published on the Sportsbet Australia web site is the winner. 8. Each week the winner will be posted in that week's tipping thread by the following Friday - usually on a Monday. We'll also allow about 24 hours before we declare correct weight, just in case there's a protest by someone who thinks they should be declared the winner because we may have made a clerical error.

9. As a condition of entering this competition you accept that decisions of Management are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

When your win has been confirmed by us declaring correct weight:

1. Please let everyone know in that Tip a Winner thread no later than midnight Wednesday, Sydney time if you are playing in the next Tip a Winner competition for the Big Dollars Cash Prize Bonus.

2. You will also need to confirm this by clicking here (http://www.propun.com.au/contact/) and sending an e-mail to Neil with the subject "Tip a Winner Competition Cash Bonus" no later than midnight Wednesday, Sydney time and telling us you are playing for the Big Dollars Cash Prize Bonus in the e-mail.

I can understand the frustration but wouldn't increasing the $1,000 make more sense?Entries seemed to decrease in the Trifecta comp when an actual prize amount was taken away and reducing the actual prize in this competition may result in something similar. Maybe offer $1,500 but you have to tip the highest priced winner and get a trifecta over a certain amount? That way interest may increase in both competitions.

Thanks Axledog. I was in the car so didn't see the run but the caller got a bit tongue tied. I thought it might've been Oh My Papa because he called it coming from way back and the horse was a good finisher. Named after the song, Oh My papa, to me he was so wonderful etc... (and he was) sung by Eddie Fisher in the 1950s.

This week's winner looks to be Jasent2006, who continued in great tipping form and tipped $23.90 winner Mumma at Doomben. (Post 14.) Jasent2006 was tipping to win $200 cash.

Correct weight should be declared on Tuesday.

There were plenty of other great tips.

Makybe Diva tipped $8.00 winner Looped at Gold Coast and Shaun tipped $11.00 winner Fillydelphia at Doomben. Shaun's tip qualifies for the $200 Cash Prize Bonus - if you tip a winning horse at odds of $10.00 or better, but do not win Tip a Winner, if you win the next week the cash prize you receive will be increased to $200 cash.

Both Axledog's two tips placed at good odds with Pontiana paying $5.90 for the place. Muzza61's two tips also placed at good odds, with Straight Albert finishing second by a long neck at Scone at double figure odds.

However there were two tips that ran second at massive odds. Sirpent tipped Dane Julia in R7 at Scone. It started at $41.00 with the bookies, finished second by less than a length and paid $10.70 for the place. While Percentum tipped Oh My Papa in R6 at Scone. It started at $61.00 with the bookies, finished second by a long neck, and paid $11.00 for the place. (Haven't checked the tote win odds for both these tips.)

Both these tips qualify for the $150 Place Cash Prize Bonus - if you tip a horse that places and pays a place dividend of $10.00 or better, if you win Tip a Winner next week the cash prize you receive will be $150.
