What about this form ??

SPELL then 6th over 1200 then 5th over 1400, and today running over 1600. You could add a zillion filters including days since last run, won at track or distance, handle the going and on and on and on and on. You’ll filter yourself out of existence.

Lets just say that the horse is lightly raced, say 12 runs for a couple of wins. We’ve got a horse that might have been set for this particular race simply because of the step up in distance at it’s second run and further step up in distance to today’s race. It might have reached peak fitness. There are enough examples where horses win 3rd up after being set for decent races to suggest that 3rd up might be the easiest area to specialise in.

I’ve noticed that horses who run extremely poorly with their first up run, do not do so well 3rd up, no matter how well they perform 2nd up. So it appears important that the horse must go OK first up.

Basic rules

3rd up without a win this time in.
