That asterisk represents their specials for the day.

I notice their specials sometimes get up if <=3.40
But fall over horrible if 3.50-5.90

Maybe this price 35.0-5.90 range could work for your selection process.

I have been dabbling with this crazy idea of backing & laying the same horse in the same sequence of races .

It is not quite right yet.
Further input would be welcome.

This is how it goes.
Lay bet flat 5 units to fall over if price is =>6.20 .
Lay bet 10 units if price is <=$6.00

Back bet is 20 units with an increment of 10% on the last losing Back bet,
Allow a max run of 6 outs then start again if no winner picked.
Also start again if winner is picked.

The general idea is to try & minimise ones total outlay if possible
Its the losing bets that do the damage & punters should try & think in terms of Liability, whether its Win or Lay betting, rather than just profit all the time.

Because if the looses are minimised , the profits will generally follow.

The Lay bets try to pay half of the Back bet losses & soften the blow a little especially on a bad run , if that's possible

First bet is always a Back bet say $20, with zero Lay bet made.

Second bet would be a Back bet $10 +10% due to previous loss .
Plus a $5.00 flat Lay bet to go towards the loss of the 1st bet.


We wish to hit 3.5% a day, then stop , or option to continue for the day if you feel you can hit another 3.50% on the day.

Example of a non winner series.
Back----Lay
20------ No bet on 1st race.

Like any system, method, call it what you will, there are boundries.
When I first tested this system, it showed amazing results with a
ceiling price of $4.00 (5.00 BF)Lay price. Cosequently since putting
it up here it has gone backwards. I extended the price to $5.00 (6.00BF)
To see if this would reel in a profit, but to-date as you can see we are
continuing down the track to ruin. However,(Thanks to UB) Backing has
saved the day, and with your Back/Lay process, we gain a leverage.
Any attempt to gain a leverage with higher prices is compounded by the
lack of action.

The UB Train just seems to puff along.
Although not in this selection process there are quite a few

Well,as I stated at the start I was hoping for a 40% increase on the LAY

Just curious.Perhaps we should remember that these are backfitted systems and thus not proven to win. They are indicators at best I would have thought.

I have no problem at all with looking at past performance to predict future outcomes, I do it all the time but I draw the line at torturing data to submit and yield preconceived results.

to wit, if one slavishly follows the line of say "last start winner" regardless of the last race class and other parameters pertaining to that race, then that is "backfitting" and most of the time it will fail.

I think it's pretty good that people are having a go at systems.
As long as there is accurate data and logic to back it up.
Unfortunately amongst the decent efforts we have "try this" or systems made up with innaccurate data.
There's no hope of it making a profit.

This is not directed at P2W, just an observation on other threads.

The whole exercise is pointless if the data is wrong to start with or it's guess work, or there are two many irrational filters.

Is it not true that these days Banks are using expect systems with past data variables to issue future loans to consumers. This technology has stopped defaults dramatically. Much of the Australian data is however limited and bought from overseas. If you have enough data, there is no reason why backfiltering won't work. Many will disagree, but hey, opinions are opinions.

It is true that banks, insurance companies, advertising agencies, governments, ratings agencies, federal and state police all use data from relatively small sample sizes.

Scientists also use databases as part of their arsenal now.

I have seen many illogical and unfounded conclusions to the data they use.

But the major difference is they use this data to limit risk, rather than base all their profit on thought up filters.

If someone put forward a system with a proven failure rate over the last 150 bets , would anyone want to put real money on it.?

I very much doubt it.

Back data is all we can go on to start with, because the future is not available.

One could argue that using rules like "must have run in last 7 days" as back fitting so as to show a profit.

The seven days rule is used by Read and Bartholemew in their ratings.
It's something that improves strike rate and POT, so it's logical.
It's also a well known fact among trainers that some horses do better with less time between runs, especially fully grown older types who otherwise can "train off".
